Jay Turney, I'm not sure I exactly understood your comment, but will try to respond anyway.

(1.) I believe that almost everyone with a DVR fast-forwards through commercials almost all the time.

(2.) There are a variety of reasons people wind up watching commercials. The limited view of the C3 numbers I've seen leads me to believe that most people (well over 50%) wind up watching most of the ads if they don't have a DVR.

(3.) Those shows did NOT lose 50% of their timeshifted audience. The second two weeks of numbers, as noted, were only Live plus same day DVR usage. The Live+7 day DVR usage numbers lag behind by a couple of weeks. We simply do not have them yet, but it's reasonable to expect the DVR usage for 10/10 and 10/17 will at least double from what is listed.

Why is it clear only to nonprofessional observers of your scene that (1) it is counterintuitive to believe viewers with a chance to skip ads won't do so (2) These will be the most likely to be sedentary, ie, the 225% who don't pick up a magazine or use the john already during the obnoxiously overlong ads (3) by your own numbers these two shows lost respectively 50% and 80% time-shifting and 30% to 50% overall viewers in four weeks. Suits me fine for the leg-crossing skirts execs foisting TV for women only on a 50% plus male viewership to destroy their own feminist propaganda devices through arrogance. Maybe Wolfe should write a new book, Twilight of the Matriarchal Moguls.

I agree with Sheckman to a point. It does deserve a different "tone" of shows around it...and it is tough for a new show to have a brand new show, Phenomenon, before it....but in a remote control and DVR world, lead ins and program blocks mean little to me..we flip around the dial like walking through a grocery store, picking out what catches our eye. I think lead ins are very, very overrated in today's TV world.

For me, again, that opening scene was a failure and all we need to know about what is causing this show to fail....too serious for a comic book adventure about a super-chick who kicks ass....for me, it was one of the most violent and disturbing cold open of any show in recent memory, with a US Soldier slashing an officer's head and then shooting up a military hospital with a machine gun.

STOP BEING SO SERIOUS...WHERE IS THE ESCAPISM and drama....?

thank you for a show without Sarah...although I miss the kid...but can't we get out of Iraq war sensationalism as plot?

What's killing me is that BW is killing Life. As she drops, so does Life. Give Life a chance. Give it a better lead-in, and one that isn't so radically different in tone/target demo.
