i think it's actually neither. It's just that since the info's through ABC it's immediately biased toward where they pull the strongest numbers. No ABC soap ever rises above #3 in the overall ratings, thanks to CBS' long-held stronghold on overall ratings in daytime, but as you can plainly see, GH, The View and OLTL are regularly in the Top 3. Thus I don't think it's all that matters.

Remember, Passions lasted 8 years on NBC almost exclusively based on their constant #1 rating with Girls 12-17, even though I don't think Passions EVER got higher than a 2.5 overall, and that's when most soaps still pulled in 4s and higher.

Eva - I can't really be sure if women 18-49 are all that matter, or if it's just legacy stereotyping.

But, it's all that ABC reports in its press release. Also, even if they air on local Network affiliates shows like Springer, Ellen, and Oprah are not considered "Broadcast Network" shows, but syndicated shows which are not included in these results. Oprah, Dr. Phil, and Regis and Kathy Lee all do much better numbers -- not sure about Jerry -- we only get access to the top 25 syndicated shows and Jerry isn't among them.

Hey Robert, so the only demo that matters during the daytime is women? That's pretty cool to know, and I'm so glad The View beat The Price is Right, because personally Drew Carey is way overrated. The View had great political leaders the week of October 15-19, so I hope all those women watching enjoyed Senator Clinton, and Speaker of the House Pelosi. What I don't get is who's still watching Jerry Springer, in the morning?
