With news that the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) put a new proposal on the bargaining table yesterday, some in the industry are hopeful that there won’t be a strike on November 1, immediately after the contract runs out with the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) in October 31.
However, some at the WGA are unimpressed by the proposal, while others feel that the WGA may have backed themselves into a corner.
Earlier we projected the disruptions likely in the case of a strike, but suggested that many shows may have been stockpiling scripts and hurrying production to create a buffer in the case of a strike. It turns out, that stockpiling may not have been taking place to the extent suspected.
And specifically for House, Fox’s highest rated show to start the season, production delays could mount because of Hugh Laurie’s sudden departure from the set.
