CBS Wins the Night, The CW Puts the Smackdown on Fox

CBS won this ho-hum (in terms of number of viewers) night of television. Women’s Murder Club vs. Moonlight is turning into an interesting competition with the hot maturing policewomen having more viewers than the metrosexual vampire – but the metrosexual vampire won the 18-49 demo. Fox’s Next Great American Band is not resonating with viewers and The CW spends a night out of the cellar. On to the shows:

ML’s numbers are really making me very happy. I love the show and I love how it’s gaining viewership. Maybe the fact that CBS ordered more scripts are giving viewers the confidence to at least watch it and not be so scared of it being cancelled. I hope CBS is happy with ML’s numbers. Thanks for the numbers.

I agree ML’s numbers, especially consecutive wins in the 18-49 demo are good signs.
The only concern I have stems from a lack of knowledge around CBS’ expectations.
I don’t know how CBS feels about this: ML loses over a million viewers from Ghost Whisperer, and then Numbe3rs seems to get them back.

Then if you look at the other shows….FNL looses about 5M from it’s lead in, MIT looses about 3M. I have to say ML isn’t doing so shabby. Plus a show about vampires is really a tough sell but it seems to be working.

fair points though I think both Men in Trees and Friday Night Lights have to be worried about survival and and probably can’t be too far from the “Deadpool”!

I hope CBS see the numbers as worthy of an entire season. This show is developing nicely. I was almost afraid to get into it with CBS’ propensity to cancel good television too quickly. This show certainly should have a place in the line-up. The casting is so well done, the chemistry between the leads compelling. I love Alex O. Never had seen anything with him in it, he’s quite the talented handsome man. Sophia and Dohring are excellent as well. I was a fan of Ron Koslow’s “Beauty and the Beast” and this show resonates with his romantic writing abilities.

While CBS can “think” about what to do, NBC has got to be heading to repeats to stem the 40% drop from “Deal” to “Lights”. If the young eyes were keeping Lights afloat this year, Moonlight has taken them all away.

In response to Robert’s point regarding C2H having more viewers a year ago and still got canceled, I am just wondering if C2H ever had a devoted and passionate fan base like ML seems to be developing now after just 5 episodes, I , for one, never care for any show enough to post anything on any message board, ML is the very first one , I guess in this time and age, I just need some good escape

Moonlight,in my opinion,is the best show on TV right now. The casting and story lines are impressive. CBS I hope you are hearing your audince, keep this one around!

It’s been such a long time since I have liked a show to the point of working my evening around it. And now with Moonlight, I count the days/hours. I absolutely enjoy everything about this show. Good Job CBS
If the show does get cancelled, I hope they sell the season on DVD, I’m definitely a buyer!

I am totally in agreement with all of you ML is exciting and Alex is quite the dapper vampire. I liked Jason Dohring on Veronica Mars and he is even better here. Last week his looks when he met Sophia Myles for the 1st time was hysterical. I hope CBS won’t be trigger happy as well, although it appears ML is doing fine. My wife and I watch faithfully.

Moonlight is a great romance novel put to screen. The hero is a great looking, sensitive guy and the heroine is feisty. They have obstacles to overcome. This show has all the makings of a cult classic. Please do not cancel!

I love ML but I know CBS will drop it. Probably for another crappy reality show. Network tv don’t care much about it’s viewers. Oh well back to Discovery and Science Ch.

Looks like ML is loosing in the ratings. Did anyone check out the Futon Critic/s 11/2 ratings. We dropped something like 12% but we still did pretty good in the 18-49 category. Anyone have any input on what this all means.

Alex OLoughlin and Sophia Myles have the best chemistry on television since Mulder and Scully on the X-Files. The show has alot of potential and will go far if CBS doesn't get nervous. It's important to note that there are few shows in this genre with ML's style and acting chops on TV. CBS should let it go this season and next to let it gain a following. I know in my house we're glued to our seats!

I have never before been compelled to post for any other show, but I am now. Yes, CBS, KEEP THIS SHOW! It is growing and so is the fan base. It is superb and has so much potential. There is buzz not only on the internet about it, but through general converstations with many people. I make sure to tune in every Friday night as well as record it for later enjoyment to get through the week. Excellent chance on a show that is and will pay off. KEEP MOONLIGHT and order more shows. Complete seasons! MoonLight is the reason I watch CBS on Friday night. Actually, the only reason I watch TV on Friday nights. Plots are good, character development is good, the show is GOOD. It should be picked up and kept.

Since so many shows get canceled, it's hard to invest much attachment for fear of the let down. I agree that this is the highlight of Friday nights. I have lost all interest in Ghost Whisperer. Don't care for Cameron Manhiem at all. Numb3rs was the only show I watched on Friday last season. Glad to have something else that's fun to watch. I hope they don't continue with this line of Mick being stupid concerning Coraline. He's a smart vampire, not a stupid human. I'm bored with her already.

CBS please listen to your viewers and don't can Moonlight, this is one of the best new shows in years and who ever cast this show should be given a huge raise, it's brillant. I look forward to Friday nights all week long just for this show alone.

The bottom line to networks is ratings…we know. Lets make this a grassroots effort. Everyone who reads this e mail, call, encourage everyone to watch. Hopefully it will catch on enough for ratings to skyrocket!!!
