ABC Wins Adults 25-54 After DVR Viewing

For the week of Oct 15-22, Live+7 DVR timeshifting increased average viewer totals by 4.2% overall among the top 6 broadcast networks over their Live+SD totals, from 48.33 million to 50.34 million, and changed one of the demo winners as ABC moved from 2nd to 1st among adults 25-54.

Although it does seem a bit unusual to us that the Fox 25-54 average viewer number didn’t change at all from Live+SD to Live+7, those are the numbers from our friends at Nielsen.

We were skeptical and contacted Gary Holmes at Nielsen who attributed the lack of change to 83% of FOX’s programming for the week being sports related due to the baseball playoffs and football overrun — sports programs don’t typically get much of a DVR bump between LIVE+SD and LIVE+7.
