Moonlight Now Top Broadcast Show on “Hey Nielsen”

Posted on 07 November 2007 by Robert Seidman

Of course, on the Hey Nielsen list the top two shows as I write this (Dresden Files and Blood Ties) are both on cable, but shooting to #3 is still a very impressive rise in the ranks. Can adoring Moonlight fans send the show all the way to #1?

  1. Leeser says:

Moonlight IS the best show currently on TV. It has dedicated fans who won't abandon it and who all agree that each new episode is even better than the last.

It's a shame that reviewers couldn't have seen more than one show before posting such abysmal reviews in the beginning.

Kudos to CBS for this wonderful show! We love it and will keep coming back!

  2. Candace says:

Leeser's right, as usual. One of the things that keeps the fans coming back is that Moonlight, regardless of what any critic says, is a complex, multilayered show that holds up beautifully under repeated viewings. the fans are absolutely right to be so dedicated.

CBS, you've got a good thing going.

  3. chukkagirl says:

I only started watching the show on the third episode, and it grabbed me hook, line and sinker! I watched the previous 2 online, and wait for Fridays with increasing anticipation — it just gets better and better — I can't get enough of this show!

  4. wondergirl9847 says:

I came into the show during the episode Fever (4th episode) and I was instantly hooked! It DOES get better and better every single week and I love rewatching the show. It's a fun show with terrific actors, writing and music. Everyone should give it a chance.

If any show reaches #1 it will be Blood Ties!!!!

  12. Debbie says:

I agree with everyone. Moonlight is the best show on TV. The story twists keep even the most addicted fans on the edge of our seats.
    I can't wait for Friday.

  13. Teri says:

Moonlight is good, but Blood Ties is the best. Blood Ties all the way.

  14. Kelly says:

Moonlight is a great show but I also love Blood Ties (as it was the first show out on the market). Both are equally great shows for totally different reasons. Henry is hot in that sexy, bad boy sort of way and Mick is hot in that cute and charming sort of way. I love both shows and hope to see many more seasons of each!

Moonlight is good, but Blood Ties is better. It is great to see two vampire shows on tv. Both of the vampires are sexy in their own ways. Let's hope both shows are around for many more seasons!

  23. Marie says:

I like Moonlight more. Blood Ties is okay, but there seems to be less and less of Henry this season and more of Vicky. I watch it for the vampires, not the detective!

  24. cherribaby says:

Moonlight is the best thing on right now! I'm about to wear out my iPod watching the first six episodes over and over! I can't wait for Fridays to get my Mick & Beth fix and Saturdays when the show is available on iTunes. If the powers that be at CBS read these messages, PLEASE keep our show on the air – writers' strike or not!

Moonlight is fantastic! Thank you Nina Tassler for letting this show have a chance. Good to see someone at CBS cares about the viewers and not the REviewers. I haven't watched network tv in ages, now I'm hooked!

Thanks for the mention of Moonlight…again. All of us fans of the show really appreciate it.

And, we know it is the best thing on TV right now…really glad to see it is starting to get the attention it rightly deserves!

Moonlight ROCKS! Every aspect of this show is far superior to ANYTHING on network OR cable television in a very long time.

Moonlight is the performing arts at its finest. To have captured their audience so completely, in so few episodes, bespeaks the tremendous talent of the entire cast.

I applaud the head of CBS Entertainment for recognizing a diamond among the coal. We, the fans, want Moonlight to be gifted with immortality for many seasons to come.

  36. Lynn says:

Lifetime series Blood Ties is an otherworldly addiction and one I am oh-so-happy to be caught up in. It is an exploration of what it means to be human as seen through the immortal eyes of vampire Henry Fitzroy and the supernatural forces he and mortal private detective Vicky Nelson track down each week to bring to justice. But the monster-of-the-week is not the most compelling thing about Blood Ties. Because it airs on Lifetime, it is a show about relationships above all else. Shows like Blood Ties give me hope for the future of urban fantasy and paranormal romance on television. It is a story we have seen a thousand times yet placed in a paranormal setting that makes it new again.

I haven't made any effort to watch any show on tv in the last six years (kids, job, etc). Moonlight has become an my addiction. Can't get enough of it. The chemistry between Mick and Beth is amazing. Thanks to CBS for such a great show.

  43. Marianne says:

Vampires are great characters. My favorite night of TV is Friday, because I get to watch Blood Ties and Moonlight. Both are great shows with lots of sparks flying between the characters. Blood Ties is my favorite by a hair because it has a strong female lead and its vampire, Henry, is more comfortable with his vampire nature, than Mick is. Of course he is way older, so that might make a difference. Bottom line is, we need more fantasy, science fiction, and romance mixed in with what's being offered on TV.

I believe that there is room for all,(moonlight and Blood ties). The networks have yet to see a real following for these types of shows. It is important that all of us work TOGETHER to prove that this genre is what women want.! Blood ties is my favorite, but i really enjoy moonlight too. We must be careful in the way that we support our shows, if we continue to knock one show it could hurt us all. I think that we should present a united front on behalf of our shows, and perhaps someone will listen.

  48. Kelly M says:

I definitely highly anticipate my friday nights for Moonlight. Between the chemistry of the characters, the smokin plot and, well, the hottest of all hotties for two of the main characters, you just can't beat this show. It keeps getting better and better. I hate that people are comparing it to other shows that really aren't close (Angel). I need this sort of show to keep up my fantasies :) )

Does anybody know how the strike is affecting ML? I haven't been able to get any information. I watch BT too, but I have to say ML is sexier, I hope both shows survive though.

  52. FarCry says:

Moonlight will very likely be affected unless the strike is short, as with any show that wasn't picked up for the full season. As for Blood Ties, it is written by Canadian writers and produced in Canada, so it shouldn't be affected. What a shame for Moonlight, the most addictive show in years. Think positive, I guess.

This is by far my favorite show! What more can you ask for…film noir, mystery, vampires, dry wit, action, great actors and chemisty and conflict that is addictive? Wait yes, I do have one more thing to ask for…more episodes!!!!!! Love this show!

  58. greenbird says:

Since so many new shows are weak in the beginning, I always watch at least a handful to see how they develop….and Moonlight didn't dissapoint me. This show was a bit campy for the first couple episodes, but by the 3rd it was flowing better and by the 6th both my boyfriend and I were begging for more! (and we don't even watch regular tv very often) The chemistry between Beth and Mick is really something to see, and having an attractive male lead will definitely keep the female fans interested :)

I love this show! I was an avid Angel/Buffy fan and I have to say I am very impressed by Moonlight, this show has incredible acting, amazing chemistry between the two leads, romance adventure, action…. and I like the new twist on some of the old vampire myths, I was hooked from the minute I watched the pilot, I love this show! Way to go CBS!

I can tell you I have never seen any show like this one. Alex O'Loughlin is a great looking man. I am glued to the tv on Friday night. I love this show. I want to see more of Mick & Beth. CBS did a great job. Thank you for Friday night.
