In a fairly weak group of new CBS shows, Cane’s ratings started at the top, but the rise of Big Bang Theory and Moonlight ratings, along with Cane’s ratings loss has dropped it to 3rd among CBS new shows.
It started near the top of all new shows, but has drifted down to merely above average. It’s 11/6 ratings performance was in a week without 3 strong new ABC shows airing.
For the first time we’re including Hispanic viewing rank among English language shows here, and Cane’s ratings rank is remarkably inconsistent. One week in the teens, the next above 25.

Except for its debut week (and 18-34 on 11/6), Cane’s ratings have finished at the bottom of the major English broadcast network shows across the board at 10pm Tuesday.
It has also consistently lost viewers each week (*10/23 data is Live, all other data is Live+SD, useful for rankings but not viewership trends) and 11/6 was at 69% of it’s debut viewership.
12/21 UPDATE: Added data through 12/11. After continuing to decline, Cane ratings did see an uptick on 12/11, but is it too little too late?
1/9 UPDATE: Added 12/18 data [no regular broadcasts since then], and those numbers were not good news. #6 in adults 18-34. Yikes.

Some marginal new shows may benefit from a long writer’s strike. If the studios cannot choose new pilots for next season in the spring, the thinking goes, they may end up resigning mediocre shows from this year. Could Cane be one of those?

sadly, this is my absolute favorite new show to watch. It really is an excellent show and I am intrigued each week. Is it the right timeslot for the show? The right network? All I know is I am fascinated and love most of the characters and I haven’t missed a week.
This show is provacative on many levels. I really hope it gets renewed and revives.
Cancel Cane….it is crap! Bring Nestor back to LOST! The world demands it!

Cane is the only show I never ever miss. The show is so great–I don’t understand the drop off in viewers. This is the only thing I watch on CBS, so I really hope they stick with it to see if it can build an audience.
I love this show myself I can’t believe the show has low ratings could the rating be rigged. These two epposides were great and have me wanting more Cane that whole cast is excellent, I love the storyline I have not missed one epposide, So Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee don’t cancel Cane that is the only show I watch on CBS and if it is cancel I would not even bother watching nothing on CBS because this is the only show I love.Also we don’t want to give up Nestor to Lost as the title of the show they lost him.
CANE is the only show on CBS that I watch also. I watch it every Tuesday, and when I dont watch it live, I have it recorded on my DVR. The show is awesome but it just hasn’t gotten the right promotion for it like how Survivor or LOST gets. I will definitely purchase the first season DVD when it comes out. Please don’t cancel the show. I can’t wait for season 2.
As usual a great show comes along and they want to cancel. This show is the best new show of the season next to Private Practice. I look forward to my Tuesday evenings and can never get enough of Cane. It was so nice last night to get 2 hours. The writing is the best and it g=keeps gettting better. I am from Fl. and can’t believe this show is not doing goood in the ratings. Please where are all the true Neilsen people out there I’ll start ratin the shows for them. I have watched this show from the very beginning. I love the characters. I feel it is very well written. If this show is cancelled, I will have a a very hard time putting forth any effort to watch any future new shows on CBS. I feel CBS should give this show a chance. Try moving to a different night or time slot CBS. We can’t let network television fall to all reality tv!

It would be a shame to cancel this show now. Some of the best shows (ie. X-Files) were given a chance during initially poor ratings even only to blossom. Keep the show. It is well written, well acted and interesting.
My sister loves it, my aunt won’t miss an episode, my mother is hooked and it’s the best show I’ve seen in eons. Great writing, great cast and I know plenty of people who LOVE Cane. Funny thing, these ratings, how accurate are they really? Please CBS, keep this entertaining show on tv. If you must, give it a better time slot , but please don’t cancel.

If cane goes, then I will punt my tv into the studio lot. where can you get characters like that? Not easy to do. It’s a great concept. They should make an effort, move it around, something! Everyone on the show is great, Smitts, Carbonell, Eddie Matos, even guys like the white doughy guy who is the marketing exec for the rum. All of ‘em are good. Watch out, if it goes. FORE!

Aside from college football this is the only other thing that I watch on CBS. Since the show aired I’ve been glued to my tv every Tuesday @ 10. With the Sopranos off the air this show can fill the void that many viewers now have. I recently turned on 3 of my primos, who were big Sopranos’ fans, to CANE. They love CANE. Funny thing is that they hadn’t heard about CANE till I text ‘em 2 weeks ago. Apparently CBS should market/advertise a little harder. If they do this and air CANE for a 2nd season I’m sure that CANE will fair better.
The plot is great, characters likable, relevance dang good! It has all the elements of the Sopranos. CBS big shots help make it the next Sopranos.
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!!!! If for the sole reason to watch that guy “hunter” that guy is freggin awesome and steals every scene he’s in! Jimmy Smits kills it too! We need to keep these edgy shows and actors on air!!!!!!!

Cane has one of the 3 or 4 best casts on Television. The writing is fine and storyline is intriguing. It would be a shame to see it go – to me its right up with West Wing as far as quality goes.
This is an excellent show with superb acting. If it is having trouble getting viewers can it not be moved to a new slot and given a try. My absolute favourite show on T.V.

Cane is by far, and I mean BY FAR, the best new show on TV this year. I haven’t missed an episode and absolutely love the cast, plotlines etc. This is so much more enjoyable than the reality TV crap being shoved down the throat of U.S. viewers. I refuse to watch reality TV any longer. Please bring Cane back next year.
Cane is an amazing show that should not be canceled. My whole house watches it and we are just starting to really get into these characters. We are drawn to the writing, acting, and unique content that Cane provides. PLEASE keep my Tuesday nights alive!!!

My wife and I watch Cane every week and have never missed an episode. We think it is exceedingly better than Private Practice, which is the show everyone else seems to be watching. There isn’t really a weak member of the excellent cast, and each episode has been top notch. Unlike some other shows which have some throw away episodes, Cane really hasn’t yet. We hope it gets new episodes for after the holidays and strike.
cane is ok and the hurricane show was absolutely ludicrous…I would like to see it continue but if it was cancelled I would not lose sleep over it…the problem I have with it is I think Jimmy Smits is a much better actor then everyone else on the show and he steals every scene he is in

Why cancel CANE? Are you kidding me? It’s one of the best shows, with some better writing than many shows these days. I suppose you want to see more sex and blood in the show. It would be disgraceful if CBS cancelled CANE. Everyone knows Neilsen–the pay per family service–is not a reliable source. What else is there to watch that isn’t a crime scene or reality TV these days?

I like many things about Cane. Jimmy Smits is a delight to watch and the supporting cast is also good. I like the Cuban/Spanish flavor of it, kind of a Hispanic Godfather, if you will. But … the story will be increasingly hard to sustain going forward. I predict it will be cancelled.

True– I was a little overwhelmed with it at first– but each week the plotline got better– the characters got deeper–
In my house it was “Mommy’s show” at first– and Mommy doesn’t even WATCH network TV, but now my teens are coming in to watch it with me, and they are as transfixed as I am.
Give it another season– it’s just now coming into its own…
The only week rating probably dropped big is when cbs was idiots and changed the time. My dvr missed it I imagine so did a lot of other dvr’s which would equal ratings drop.

I hope cbs takes a hard look before canceling this show. The casting of Cane was supurb, they are performing a great job. Jimmy should get an award for his performances, especially regarding last weeks performance when he informed the family of the truths he kept from them. I to hope if CBS cancels that they will be picked up from another network, that is the day I will switch from cbs to ?????. So, change the time slot or change the network, but I hope they do not cancel the show.

CBS needs to find better shows to put on after NCIS. The Unit loses over a third of its lead-in and Cane loses half of what’s left.
If they put a couple of good, compatible shows after NCIS they’d have a powerhouse.
I don’t think Cane is under-performing because of its time slot.
Jimmy Smits has done an excellent job at producing this show. It is exciting, intriging, action packed, yet sentimental about the latino family and culture. I’ve not missed an episode. Don’t cancel it.
If CANE is cancelled, I’m Cancelling CBS. This is a GREAT show. Move the show to another time slot. It is 10 times better than the other garbage CBS comes up with.
CANE is the best thing on CBS in my opinion. Do not cancel it. Who needs another “reality” show or forensic detective show??? Enough already. Whatever day of the week is okay with me, but it does need the late spot. (Some shows are just for adult viewing, and we love it.)

I personally would like to see Cane come back for a second season, being of Latino background, it is really the first of its kind to be broadcast, I say give it at least another season.
Tuesday night for me was a bad night for TV until Cane came along. I am HOOKED! Great setting and wonderful actors, I hope it makes the cut and is around for a while. I will be greatly disappointed if the show were cancelled.

I can’t believe we’re even talking about cancelling this one! PLEASE Don’t do it. It has such great casting and storylines. This is a little escape every Tues night.
I truly hope this show isn’t cancelled. I just read an article by a TV critic stating that the show is already cancelled, and wont be brought back after the writers strike. I think CBS would be making a huge mistake.
The cast is excellent, and the storylines interesting and exciting. I think what might save this show would be a move to a different time slot. The 10pm Tuesday night slot is difficult, against Boston Legal. I would try it, perhaps on Friday night, where the competition might not be as tough. Friday at 10pm Eastern would be a good slot. “Las Vegas” ,on NBC, has deteriorated since James Caan left the show, and the only other network show on at that time is 20-20, due to the Fox, UPN, and WB channels having their 10pm news casts. Not everyone is into News.

PLEASE do not cancel this excellent show! It consistently has fine scripts, excellent ensemble acting, rich plot lines, great locations, great music, and is one of the best series to appear on TV in a long time. Jimmy Smits anchors the top notch cast and the women have good roles, too, for a change. CBS needs to make this work – if they cancel “Cane” it will be a sign that they are selling out on one of their very best shows in years.
This is a fast pace series, with twists and turns of real family life. whether they are rich or poor all walks of life and they have new and upcoming stars that are loyal to the genre. Let’s be loyal to them too, keep them on.

Renew, renew, renew!!! My entire family and I are addicted to this show and would be very sad to see it go. It’s entertaining and a great look into our Cuban culture. It is one of the only shows on TV right now that keeps us guessing every week. These last few weeks really got the discussion going in our house about ‘who did it’. If CBS cancels this show, I don’t know what we’ll do!!!
There is talk of canceling because it’s doing horribly.
Noy only is it not a new Dallas by any stretch (the closest thing is perhaps Desperate housewives) but it is also playing to Latino negative stereotypes.
I think the show hasn’t been embraced by Latinos because they are just not going to embrace shows where they are portrayed as gangsters (no matter how high-class).
When portrayals of Latinos by Hollywood become more realistic, maybe there will be space for a Latino Godfather wanna-be, but it’s not surprising it’s not doing well.
You have to keep Cane!!!! Jimmy Smits is AWESOME!!

Is it just me or is there really no point in having a dozen fans of each show post essentially the exact same message.
Nielsen’s site is trying to grow itself but it’s a complete bore due to endless fanfest messages, of no interest even to fans, by the same few people.
Please, please renew Cane. This is my very favorite show on TV. I have never taken the time to even give an opinion on any show before, but this one is different. It’s fresh. I simply love it. What a wonderful cast and wonderful plots. I can’t say enough about it. I havn’t missed a episode. My family and friends love it too. I think it’s # 1. This is a great show, we never miss it, we record it, we discuss it, we love ALL the actors, ALL the story lines, it’s actually interesting, reminds us of HBO series that we love (Deadwood, Rome) where it’s a progressive drama that makes you think, yet entertains you. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL!
i agree, i am turned upside down now that it has stopped, i really hope they dont cancel. i dont really think it is the right time slot, its hard to compete with law and order. but simular to csi miami, i believe it it the right company, but if they dont know how to sceldule a great show like this so that it thrives, maybe they did chose the wrong network.
My husband and I have started watching Cane this season, and we are absolutely loving it. We both think that this is the best show that has come on T.V. since NYPD Blue. It is awesome, we love Jimmy Smitts, and the rest of the cast are great. We love the storyline, and can’t wait for Tuesday nights to watch it. We are going to be very disappointed if this show is cancelled, and have vowed never to watch T.V. again if this showed is pulled off the air!!

I just can’t stand the thought of not seeing CANE next season. Both my husband and I have not missed an episode and can’t imagine not seeing more of the Duque family saga. The cast is outstanding, the music exceptional, the scenery wonderful and the story real. In a time when network viewing has gone to too many reality shows we find CANE a plus to the weeknight line-up. Please don’t cancel this great show.

i started watching Cane while in Australia and I was so upset to come back to States and find out that it is possibly canceled. Please don’t do this. We need some new drama in the evening. Remember Dynasty, Dallas, Falcon’s Crest, only to name a few.
I love this show. Its got a great, talented cast and an involving storyline. If they give this show some time and an advertising push it could really shine. The star power alone should get it renewed for a second season. I look forward to it every week and I really hope they keep it going.

‘Cane’ is a good drama. It reminds me of the good ol’ days in drama shows like ‘Dallas’ ‘Knots Landing’ ‘Falcoln Crest’ and ‘Dynasty’! It compliments the campy drama of ‘Desperate Housewives’! Don’t cancel it, give it a chance CBS!

I have waited for a show that grabs my attention and keeps me wanting for more . Cane does that for me. It is definetly the shortest hour on tv. I haven’t missed an episode yet.
It is the only show I look forward to each week.I love it and I think the actors on this show are amazing. Wake up CBS. Canes turned me back onto TV again , as I am sure it has for others .
I like the show because there are moral dilemmas for Mr. Vega. He isn’t a creep – he is caught up in things where the use of force seems to be the only way, and then he has to pay the price of it. Meanwhile, he has a family which actually seems to try to love one another. It’s a struggle, but they persist in the face of suspicion and difficulty, and they run into a culture which doesn’t hold those same values. I personally know the value of a strong Latin family (being an associate member of one, and having been raised a Catholic). I am seriously grateful for the good things from the Mediterranean world. In spite of “I Claudius”, it isn’t all decadent. I am also sick and weary of the hardness of a lot of modern life. This is a fine, beautifully colored escape. It plays to the heart mostly, but the head is also involved when someone like Vega has to trim his moral sails close to the wind.
As a viewer in the stands, I would let this gladiator live to fight another day….

Cane is my favorite show. I’ve been telling all my friends to watch it – doing my small part to keep it on the air. I agree with Buck that you’d have to be crazy to cancel such a quality show. If I were a network exec, I’d put it in a different time slot & see what happened. More people just have to discover it. It has the potential to become another “Dallas”-type blockbuster. Okay, I have missed a few episodes of Cane, because CBS has aired other shows in its timeslot. I think the problem is the network, CBS is not hot enough to contain a show like Cane. I wouldn’t of even knew about this show if I didn’t by chance see an article in the newspaper. Like alot of other people I do not look at CBS at all. With all the trash that is on TV I would be sick if this show was booted. By, the way where can we find out if the show was cancelled for real?

I say RENEW the program. Are you kidding!!!!! Its one of the best programs since SOPRANOS.I watched it every Tuesday night faithfully and all of a sudden it went off with no warning. Whomever were the JERKS and RACIST that said if its based on Cubans do it in Cuba. We didn’t say the SOPRANOS is about ITALIANS so do it in ITALY. people are idiots I say RENEW the show or I will be one less person watching CBS. I have been hooked to this show since the very first time of watching. It would be a shame if they decided to cancel! My opinion is to RENWEW. I love Cane. I hope it does not get cancelled, it is a unique show with characters and actors we may not otherwise see. The acting is top notch. People need to just give it a chance.

Any show has fans, even the worst rated. Getting 150 comments by supposedly different people saying the same thing really doesn’t make for an interesting site. Perhaps those comments could be condensed into a “best of” of something.

There are so few adult, reasonably intelligent, [programs to watch these days – I was intrigued by Cane due primarily to Jimmy Smits, whom I had last seen in West Wing. And it is such a pleasure to see Rita Moreno again! And now it has disappeared. Do we always have to have “spectacular” or teenage tv shows? I certainly hope that NCIS and Criminal Minds don’t disappear or there goes my week!

Cane is the only show that tears me away from house on fox every tuesday night. It would be borderline craziness not to renew.
I am not a big t.v. person, since Cane came out i do not miss a show. I believe the cast has done a fenomenal job, they do a great job on keeping you interested thrugh out the entire show. The show is adicting if I may say, absolutely love it. I hope the network does not make the mistake of taking it off air. I do not believe the show got the advertizing that it needed, more comercials would help. Everybody I told about the show either started watching it or recording it since the first time the watched it. I cannot wait for the second season.

J, I have been checking around and I can’t find one started yet, but I do hope one does get startted. A online petition to save Cane would great. I noticed some of the other new shows are doing online petitions. To my understanding it was very sucessful for Jericho. I noticed that they were using petitiononline.com for their petition to save Journeyman. I also noticed that some others from other blogs are using ipetitions.com and petitionthem.com. I think it is a great idea. To me Cane is definately worth saving. It’s my favorite show. I do wish there was something we could do.

In speaking with others I am not alone. There are very few people who dis-liked CANE. Just as the momentum was building it is off the air.

I was reading through this site and was just about to post my comment regarding this awesome show when I read your personal attack on those who are not commenting in ways which you find acceptable. I moved on to read a response from someone who had the courage to stand up against you. Later, I saw that you called her response to your judgemental comments a “personal attack”. Please take a moment, sit back and reflect on this situation. After doing so, I am sure you will agree it was you who started the personal attacks and that you should truly feel ashamed of yourself. Once this realization sets in, I am sure that being the good person you are, you will feel extremely compelled to apologize to this lady and to the rest of the fans who have a right to have their voices heard. However, after reflection, if you do not come to this conclusion, you are free to not visit the sight again; perhaps this will upset you less. It’s really not healthly for you to get upset over something so small. Take care of yourself and have a wonderfully healthy 2008.

This is hilarious, I jokingly told my wife last night that they were canceling Cane. Little did I know that I may have been prophetic.
It makes me sick though. We’ve never watched anything on Tuesdays. It’s pretty much desolate on Tuesdays (and CBS for that matter). We didn’t miss an episode. It wasn’t the Soprano’s by any stretch, but it had us hooked like Tony used to.

How can this happen??? This was the best drama on primetime TV for years. My husband and I watch very few drama shows, but this one won both of us over and became a favorite in a short time. We kept commenting that we could hardly believe that this show was a network television show. It was so well done and very intriguing! We certainly are missing Cane on Tues. nights at this house. This show has such potential if CBS would only give it a chance. It has such a fantastic cast Jimmy Smits, Hector Elizondo, Rita Moreno and the list goes on. Even the ones that are newer to me are absolutely awesome. What show can even compare to the talent this show has. It keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next. I can’t say enough about this show. It’s the best show to come along in a long, long time. I like all the CSI shows, but its time for something different and Cane is it.

Not to make you guys upset, but this is a site about TV Numbers. Have you checked out the Cane ratings? If so, why would you be so incredulous at CBS thinking of canceling it.
They wouldn’t be doing their job if they weren’t thinking of canceling it.
They gave it a huge push and it didn’t deliver.
The only thing that could save it is that Les Moonves has already said he’d pick up two shows for renewal no matter what so he can boast of having a .400 season.
I think Les will rethink that and take more at bats next year because renewing low-rated shows is the way to join NBC at the bottom of the heap (My Name is Earl – 30 Rock – Friday Night Light etc…)

Now, Bill and company may want to turn it into a HeyNielsen competitor and fight for the “Fans Trying to Save a Show” crowd, and in that case I will probably stop reading it.
As it were, I think it’s a great site because it deals with numbers.
Hundreds of posts saying “this is a great show” are in my opinion not only irrelevant to the topic, but also make it difficult to find interesting and relevant posts that I’d like to read.
There are plenty of shows that I have said nice things about. Sorry that you’re upset Cane is not one of them. I like the cast, but I have no interest in mob family stories. It looks like I’m not alone in that category.
Another fact to militates for CBS canceling Cane is that CBS Tuesday starts with a Top 10 Show (NCIS – yes, believe it – no hype and yet a wonderful show with a huge audience!) and CBS loses all that lead-in audience by the time Cane ends (The Unit is also guilty).
If CBS wants to improve its numbers, it should look at being very aggressive at finding shows to complement NCIS and either cancel or move The Unit and Cane.
I don’t know how they figure the ratings, but I am sure if you had a pole of regular people that watch and love the show. You would find that we want Cane renewed. It is a great show. I am a 64 year old women that don’t watch a great deal of tv because most of the shows is not worth me wasteing my time but Cane is a great show.NCIS is another great show, but I like Cane better.

I cannot believe that CBS is even considering cancelling Cane!!!! This show is loved by many and we are ALL wondering what the network is “officially” doing except leaving its audience “HANGING”!!! I did not graduate from Harvard but the network execs should read the comments above they oughta know that the show at the very least deserves to be moved around and given a legitimate chance to thrive. If CBS cannot figure it out, maybe one of the other networks with smarter execs will figure a way to buy the show and air it on one of the more savvy networks!!! If the show is to be cancelled, at least let the masses know what’s going on!!!!

Cane is on Tuesday which is a great night for CBS (or at least should be in The Unit was squandering the awesome lead-in given by NCIS).

I agree with Susan (back in Dec.)-I have missed the ghost of Bobby Simone and CANE is the next best thing to bringing him back! Find another time slot for this action-packed show with poor conflicted Jimmy/Alex and let them keep going-they haven’t had long enough to prove themselves and Boston Legal is too established for them to compete. CBS needs good shows like this. Nice switch from all the reality crap and the law/legal shows that flood TV.
I really like Cane. The network need to give this show another chance. I have been wondering why it is not been on the last couple weeks and I had to search the net to find out:(
I also agree with some of the past comments there are way too many CSI types shows out there we need more shows like Cane. The cast is pretty awesome too. I just think the writers needed to get a little more creative and stop pushing the same content on every episode.
Finally a great show appears and people can’t be bothered to take the time to follow and/or understand a relatively good, continuous storyline. The attention span of most people nowadays is less than a fruit fly’s. But it’s really fantastic that we can either watch like 20 different forensic detective shows every night, some more gruesome than the others (and vomit in front of the tv, yipeee!); or we can have our fix of those ‘pound to death many times over’ reality tv shows in their 53rd season that the masses seem to gobble up. Would really be a waste if Cane gets canceled. At least for me.
CANE is my favorite show of the week, not just Tuesday nights. I have been waiting for it to come back on and then I hear it is being cancelled. I have recorded each episode and when my son came home from college over the break, he watched each one and was anxious for it to continue. It has a GREAT & BEAUTIFUL cast along with family values that include making difficult choices. I hope you reconsider and give it another chance! This is the only CBS show that I watch.
I’m very very disappointed. Cane is the most imaginative tv series. I find it incredible that viewership is declining. What garbage are these people watching? Maybe requiring the use of your brain eliminates these viewers!! Please bring CANE back.
I will be very disappointed if Cane is cancelled. It has strong characters and a great story line. It’s a shame that reality tv has taken over all programming. Please leave this series alone so those of us that enjoy mini series type of shows have something to watch.

Cane had a very small audience before the WGA strike. CBS may use the strike as an excuse to cancel it while claiming victory, but that will just be an empty PR move.

CANE is the only show that I HAVE to watch every week. If I can’t be home, the VCR goes on! Then I’ll watch the tape a couple times. The actors are all great. The storyline is exciting! Each week after watching an episode, I would always think, ‘how are the writers going to top this’? They ALWAYS have. It’s one show my husband & I agree on. He’s a faithful viewer too. PLEEAASE ~ we want to know who killed Joe Samuels!!!

I’m sick and tired of minority shows being the first to get cancelled. If this show is cancelled which is really what seems to be happening, it is a damn shame. You’re not even giving this show a chance. As a minority myself, it’s nice to be able to watch a show on TV and see a little color.

We know the purpose of this site is to inform us of the ratings,but the title states Renew or Cancel?and it has a section that saids Post a Comment. I encourage everyone just to ignore the negative comments and let her vent out as much as she wants. The Cane fans are just voiceing their opinions respectfully of Renew or Cancel and it only seems that it is one person that is in favor of cancelling the show.I think it is great that people are talking about how great the show is because it truely is. Now as far as Cane goes, I have to say that I love it. However I got lost with a lot of shows due to writer’s strike. I was trying to keep up with my favorite shows and got so lost and confused. Cane should be given a second chance. It rates high among new shows. I think many people began watching DVD’s when the writer’s strike hit and Cane’s numbers still rank high amongst new shows. Give it another shot please. The writer’s for this show are absolutley gifted and talented. A new season and a new chance will prove that Cane may very well end up becoming a show that goes down in history. How can you go wrong with a cast like that? The story line is fantabulous (yes i made that up…lol)!

DO NOT CANCEL. The issue with the networks these last few years is they bring stuff in and cancel after as little as one showing. Cane has a great cast, depth, intriging and exciting. Likely reason people have strayed is networks keep putting on new shows and people look to see what it’s all about. The other thing is when any show runs the run is so short and it’s another break before the show resumes. This gets old. What happened to running 9 months straight before a break? Come on networks, stop the shell game and entertain us.

This is one of the first programs in a long time that has come along and has portrayed the difficulties that even close-knit families go through. The storylines always evolves around all members of the family which includes the most senior to the youngest member. It’s a program that draws all members of your family to sit down and watch it together. You know, the way it uses to be. The program is not riddled in just sex and violence but something that evolves around the American dream while still trying to hole on to decent family values. I think this program has been a breath of fresh air after suffering through all the crap that’s on network TV or cable. I only started recently watching CBS after many years and it’s all do to “CANE”. Just reading all these e-mails about CANE said it all; you don’t need Nielsen ratings to tell you what’s good on TV!
With over 3 months of postings, surely something can be done to prevent the cancellation of Cane. With all the fluff and mind-numbing junk on TV, who would have thought the masses could handle a half-way interesting hour of programming. My sister and her husband look forward to Tues. nights, my Mother and step-father tune in to Cane and Tuesday night at 10 is the only time my husband and I meet on the couch together. We all span atleast 3 age demographics and I cant believe we are the only 3 couples watching.
y husband is from England and Cane is the ONLY “American TV” that he watches. This isnt the first time CBS has done this, seems to me that they throw these shows out with no plan on continuing them, probably the writers find it too challenging to actually finish the story. All this time spent striking for what they “deserve”, I pay a ridiculously high cable bill as well as an additional charge to get the local channels – what do I deserve? I guess I’ll stick to re-runs on the Animal Planet,

Please return Cane to the people!!! I have not made a date to sit and savour like a fine glass of rum a show on CBS for about 10 years. The cast is awesome, beautiful and fabulous actors. The sets are gorgeous, the writing just plain fine. I have turned on at least 10 families to this exquiste show!! Bring it back, give it the life it deserves.
Finally a show with beautiful people, amazing actors, great guest appearances, enjoyable to watch and now I hear it is being cancelled. This show with its deeply rich Hispanic cast is refreshing to the airwaves. The world deserves more ethic groups representing their cultures. I absolutely love the show and am waiting for its return.
CANE is the best show since SOPRANOS! I was a huge Sopranos fan and was very dissatisfied with the ending. Now that there is a HISPANIC version of the Sopranos (CANE) I am hooked to CANE and looked forward to CBS Tuesday nights. Try changing the timeslot to 9:00 pm this way you get more live viewers instead of it being recorded on DVR or TVO. PLEASE BRING CANE BACK!! FINALLY A SUCCESSFULL HISPANIC SHOW AND CAST.
Ricky Ricardo in the 50’s, Chico and the Man in the 70’s, and the George Lopez Show in 2000. These are the only shows the Hispanic community could sit back and watch thier own be succussfull on TV. You cannot go wrong with Rita Moreno, Hector Elizondo and Jimmy Smits and the great cast of CANE. There is alot of new talent on that show give them a chance! Please do not cancel CANE!

I can not believe CBS is cancelling Cane. My husband and I love the show. We have watched every week. Since the writers strike, I have been checking back on the web to see when it will return. Please, Please give it another chance! It was the best show by far on CBS-Very new and different, the charactors were wonderful as was the plot.
I agree with the other writers, If CBS takes Cane off the air, I am boycotting ALL CBS shows. FOX has the best tv shows and when Cane came along to CBS it was the first time in 6 years that I watched a favorite TV show that was not on FOX.

Jericho’s ratings for 2/12 surpassed ratings for every episode of Cane except for one – this is significant because Jericho took over Cane’s slot AND we’re coming off a brutal writers strike that has affected nearly everything on TV ratings wise. If Jericho ratings hold, Cane will not be back in that time slot, if at all.
I don’t watch Jericho or I don’t have anything against it suceeding, but it’s 2/12 ratings were only 7.15 Scroll to the top of this page and you will also see out of Cane’s 12 episodes its ratings were lower than that only 2 times and not alot at that. Jericho ratings are in the overnight results for 2/12.
I LOVE Cane! Please don’t take it off the air!! This is my favorite new show and I just can’t believe the ratings are low. The competition is fierce, I understand, but give it a chance.

Please don’t cancel Cane it is a great show. I don’t have much time to watch TV since I had my two kids so it takes a really good show for me to make the time and Cane is one of the few. I love it. It is great to see a Cuban family on TV, being Cuban myself.

Not everyone wants to watch reality shows. I would like to turn on the TV and watch a quality show with geat photography, acting, directing and a good plot. Cane offers all of the above. Sadly, there are far and few between shows like this today. I hope it is given a chance to return as I feel it will grow with time.

cane started out great and had agreat cast so it seemed it would stay around for while,but somewhere along the way the show started relying to heavily on pop-star cameos instead of drama and good writing,but still iwish they would give it another chance,although i prefer to see nestor on lost (could he be ben’s man on the boat).
Please don’t cancel Cane! It has superb actors and actresses in it. It is fascinating, every week it gets deeper and deeper! The characters are true and the story line just gets better! Big mistake to cancel! Put it in an earlier time slot, ratings will sky rocket! I love this series and would hate to see it end! It is real entertainment and has everything people want to see! Somebody please pick it up and let’s be entertained again. These reality shows that have taken over tv network are just awful! I had seen this show on a plane ride to Jamaica and didn’t watch. Then on the way back it was on again and I watched a little and figured I would check it out when it came out.. TIVO’d all the shows and finaly finished watching them.. Love it.. This is a great show.. My girlfriend talks about ti with the women in her office and they all seem to enjoy it as well.. Do not cancel… This will be the third or fourth show in 3 years which I have enjoyed and made a point to watch but have been cancelled. Keep it on..

It is a great show and I do not understand why the ratings were low, thats a bunch of bull to me!!! Please don’t cancel Cane. It is one of the better shows on T.V. NBC executives should give the show some time to find its audience. T.V. executives are in too much of a hurry to cancel shows. Remember shows like Seinfeld and Friends took a while to catch on.

This is an excellent show in the wrong time slot. We need a repeat of how they handled Everybody Loves Raymond- near flatline, a simple change in the schedule made it one of the highest watched sitcoms ever. Let’s hope the networks wake up, cancel one of those absurd reality tv shows with 10 fans, and MOVE CANE TO A GOOD TIMESLOT! Great cast, great plot- hot leading man… what more could you ask for?

I muss CANE !!!!!! I was not able to watch it in it’s time slot, however, I recorded and looked forward to viewing it. I loved this show. I can’t believe CBS would cancel this show yet keep a lot of other shows that do not interest me in the least.
Cane still hasn’t been aired in Belgium but I took the liberty, a few months ago, to watch the show online.
Damn, finally a real story, with real people, feelings, drama, suspense, honour, good looking people… all necessary elements to make it a great show!

I think ratings are bogus. My grandmother was a Nielsen family until she died a few years ago. I guess I can tell now that she’s dead. It was supposed to be a big secret. They acted like it was better to sell secrets to the Russians than tell anyone she had an ugly black box hooked to her TV. Her and my Uncle, who is mentally retarded and probably singlehandedly responsible for cartoons staying on air, were responsible for helping determine what did and didn’t get cut. That meant that shows like Jeopardy had long running history’s and anything that came on after 8:00 at night didn’t get viewed. Can’t watch TV when you asleep. It blows that they are going to cut Cane, but you can bet your ass that some small town in rural America has some old lady that falls out as soon as the sun goes down telling the networks what we do and don’t watch.
Well, I just done the neilson rating and it was not a box anymore. It was a “diary” that you just write what was watched. I had one for each TV. I put all my favorites and things I didn’t want cancelled in it. They do not use the boxes anymore. They even paid me for doing it!
Felicia, Nielsen most certainly still uses the “people meter” boxes in the larger markets.
They use the diaries in the smaller markets.
They have paid the participants for quite some time.
Wow, the customer rep must not have known when she called to explain how to use the diary. I asked for a box and she said they no longer did that anymore. Either way, I am glad I go to voice my opinion!
CANE NEEDS TO COME BACK…I have to know who killed Samuels. If not CBS, then hopefully another network will pick it up. How about A&E or Bravo…I think CANE will fit great there!!

I am so disapointed that the show was canceled. I have been trying to find out what happened to the show. Thought that the strike had held it up. It was a great show.
The best and most looked forward to show in years. It must be brought back as it has great content andpotential. The reality shows are boring and pathetic wastes of time and can be cancelled and never missed.
I was hooked from the 1st episode! I thought the last show was a cliff-hanger to keep up waiting with baited-breath until next season! BRING CANE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m SICK OF REALITY SHOWS!!!

Cane has to be brought back!! That show had everything. Every week I found myself waiting in anticipation for the next episode. It’s one of “those” shows that get discussed at the “water cooler” at work!! Very few shows has that power.
Cane was one of the few decent shows to air this season. Poor ratings would be the result of deficient advertising on the part of CBS. My wife and I have not missed an episode, and received favorable comments from everyone we recommended the show to. It was finally a show with creativity – not more reality garbage. Truly an excellent program!! Hopefully CBS will have the wisdom to continue it.
Cane was my favorite show last year, I have been checking each week waiting for it to come back on. Jimmy Smits is one of my favorite actors, I am deeply disapointed that it has not returned. I looked forward to watching it every week. Please bring it back, my friends and I are waiting.
My husband and I have been anxiously awaiting the comeback of this wonderful show. We enjoyed the quality of each and every episode. The writing is excellent and the acting is just as superb. It would be a shame to eliminate the best show that has come about in years. And a big disappointment for those of us who can’t wait for it to continue.

I reali dont know what to say. This show was great, excellent productions. What is happening with ratings if when yor guide on your tv does not even says what is really on tv and you sudenly lose something you might have seen. The writers riots and allthe repetitions of old programs kept us out too… not fair.

Can’t you just try this show in another time slot on a different night before you decide to cancel it. The show has such good actors and the plot is so intriging and interesting. My husband and I love this show and have wondered why it has not returned to tv.
I am hoping that this will be given a full season to be judged. I love this program and couldn’t wait to watch it each week. I thought it has a very strong cast. I will be very disappointed with CBS if they dump this program. They will lose me as a viewer.
Im so disappointed, yet not surprised. Im not surprised that the viewers opinion really does not matter any longer because if it did Cane would be back on tv entertaining us but its not instead shows that have no appeal remain on. On this site you have many fans pleading for months for this show to be put back on the air and to no avail, its a shame that when we talk no one hears. Cane was a show that entertained and intigued its viewers, it would be nice if we could have that back.

Very disappointed to see that Cane won’t be back on. I was hoping it was just late in returning. Really like the show and the actors. It was nice to have a new show on that wasn’t “reality” t.v. and not about lawyers or the police!!
Great show, great characters and decent plots. One of the few reasons I had to even view one of the major networks. Not real sure what the so called experts consider a good show anymore. Thankfully, there’s ESPN and CNN. You missed again guys.
With C. Gipson and CBS news laging distantly behind FOX News one would think CBS would not do anything to further degrade thier lineup. Canx CANE just took me off the network. The major newspapers are falling one by one with any luck CBS won ‘t be far behind.
I cannot believe that CBS took off such a great show. We truly waited ‘2008′ to see if CBS would bring the show back . At first we thought is was the writers’ strike, but no. I was so glad when Cane came on, it brought back memories when my family would all rush home to watch show together. How you rate what stays and what goes on television is beyond me.
All the actors in Cane are great. What a beautiful show, something to look forward to on Tuesday nights (or any other night). Why is not picked up by other networks? PLEASE BRING BACK “CANE”!!

I’m so very dissappointed, such a beautiful cast. Their was no one in this show that I disliked. They were all wonderfull. I dont know who is in charged of the rattings but – Im sorry they must have paid them to minimize these rattings. All my friends loved this show man and women no exception. I dont believe rattings had anything to do with cancelling this show. Everyone I know couldnt wait to get home to see the show. Me, thank god I recorded it. At least I can see reruns.
