All eyes were again on American Idol and FOX easily won the night both in viewers and the 18-49 demographic. But make no mistake, the show has definitely hit peak ratings and it’s on the long slide downward. FOX’s job will be to make the curve down the least steep it possibly can. While last night’s edition of AI scored 30.28 million viewers and a 12.6/30 in the 18-49 demographic, it’s off quite a bit from the same (2nd) episode of last year’s season when the Wednesday January 17, 2007 installment of idol had 36.94 million viewers and a 15.5/36 in the 18-49 demographic. Down 19% in the demo and 6.66 million viewers (we don’t make the numbers up, we only report them).
Nonetheless, when it came to watching TV last night American Idol was king. While it’s true you could argue that in light of AI, Deal or No Deal is just putting a massive beatdown on CBS’ The Power of 10. But when American Idol has 2.5x as many viewers as Deal or No Deal, can I really get excited by that? No, no I can’t.
ABC continues to struggle. It had no shows with more than 6.06 million viewers and up against American Idol, whatever legs in the 18-49 demo it looked like Supernanny might have – let’s just say she lost them. CBS ran the conclusion of the Comanche Moon miniseries from 9p-11p, and I suppose all things considered it performed OK. NBC took second on the night with Deal or No Deal, and new episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Law & Order. See full night’s details:

One thing that pops to mind is that when a drama like Cashmere Mafia bombs, it is covered heavily in the press. When a reality show bombs like Power of 10, it's “on to the next”.
I was amazed yesterday to read that Ben Silverman is claiming to be paying the same fee for reality shows as for dramas.
Then again, he may have been paying his own company, Reveille, that much… Amazing that GE is letting him get away with that huge conflict of interest.
Speaking of Cashmere Mafia, I could have told them for free not to make it past the pilot. I mean anyone looking at the first promo posters coming out of Sony before the L.A. Screenings thought that show would work?
Atleast American Idol went down in a little bit
So did Cashmere Mafia
How many years until CBS and Warner decide to finally revamp the CW into a real network?

As being sponsers and writting commentary for the TV Big Shot game, it would be great if you could post the Household Ratings in your daily overnight reports. (since that is the basis for for the TV Big Shot game)

E-Man, it's a fair point. There may be some production issues (I won't bore you with the details), but we'll give it a shot and see how it goes. I've added it to today's #s.

E-man, just to note that our Top Shows By Network results which appear on Tuesday do have the final HH ratings numbers, but I completely understand the need for information sooner rather than later.
