Speaking of Jeff Zucker, isn't typical of the way he thinks that instead of making less-expensive pilots and making two-hour so they can be sold as movies, he thinks the only way to cut down costs is just not making pilots?

Then again, given how poorly he's been picking shows from pilots, maybe he's right he can't do any worse by winging it... ;)

Thanks Bill! :)

Am I correct in assuming that the good comps were caused by NBC's collapse last year in January?

Jeff Zucker would like us to forget that last year was, if I recall correctly, NBC's lowest rated season ever.

By the way Bill, it may really not be worth the effort, but I'm curious of the "improvement" (in the rate of audience loss!) has any reality other than that last year was already pretty awful for them.

But in any case, I appreciate your input as always!

I'm not sure they're doing "better". The numbers show they're not doing as poorly as at the start of the year, not that they're doing better than last year.

NBC is of course trying to portray "not as awful" as some sort of victory, but are they really fooling anyone?

I'm not sure they're doing "better". The numbers show they're not doing as poorly as at the start of the year, not that they're doing better than last year.

NBC is of course trying to portray "not as awful" as some sort of victory, but are they really fooling anyone?

I'm the first to admit that there can be many logically consistent explanations of the trends that chart shows.

It's a fact that NBC is doing better [in terms of avg. viewers] at this point in the 2007-8 season vs. last year than they were in Nov, Dec and early Jan.

Exactly why NBC is doing better is a good question that I might be able to narrow down with a lot more effort, but then again, I might not, so I'm not sure I'm up for the attempt.

Because those are comparisons to last year, isn't is the case that NBC was already plunging last year at this time, leading to easier "comps"?
