L&O CI’s on NBC are re-runs. The originals are run on USA, so it’s only natural it’d get lower ratings.

NBC wishes it had ANYTHING garnering 14-18 million viewers on a regular basis besides sports it overpays for.

L&O beats even the “almighty” Heroes, which is losing its audience by the bushelful with each passing episode.

Law & Order is quality this season.

While it’s one of NBC’s top shows, ratings are still quite low.

A good figure for L&0 would be 14m-18m.

I don’t think the L&0 CI lead in does it any favors though as it’s the weaker of the 3 L&0’s.

Angie, you are completely right. Are they trying to pull the “it’s such a hit we just had to renew it” PR move? It’s sad when you have to renew shows that don’t perform to try and pretend you have a hit.

Incidentally and off-topic, the studios started to do that with movies too. They’ll order a sequel script and hire a director even if they have no intention of ever filming a sequel, just so they can claim it’s a hit…

I read in an article about the Dick Wolf lawsuit that NBC was considering canceling L&O two years ago.

Can you imagine why they would even think of it? It’s their only decent, reliable drama (now that Heroes is sliding into ratings oblivion slowly but surely).

It shows the complete lack of common sense at NBC.

This was the best re-run numbers for Lost in a long time (which is really not saying much).

It shows that re-lunching a show can still bring a pop (albeit smaller and smaller).

Re-run numbers are a great indication of the quality of a show. Great shows re-run well (like I Love Lucy!) Bad or mediocre shows tend to not re-run so well in the absence of a marketing campaign.
