More on Eli Stone’s Lost Promotion

Posted on 05 February 2008 by Robert Seidman

It would seem both Stan the Man from the OC, and Karla Escolas at Chitika were both correct,  but perhaps not as correct as I (or they) would’ve hoped.

Matt Tatham at Hitwise was good enough to forward me the web data for flyoceanicair.com, and there’s definitely merit to Karla’s thinking there was  TV to Internet convergence, but for the week, FlyOceanicAir.com had less traffic than www.find815.com

When a fan site that doesn’t get promoted on broadcast network television has more traffic than a site that did get promoted on broadcast network television — I am not ready to proclaim “brilliant” TV to Internet convergence, but clearly there was convergence out of the Lost promo aired during Eli Stone and FlyOceanicAir.com benefited from it.

For the week ending Feb 3, Deal or No Deal was the #1 web TV show site, and Lost was #2.

Hitwise measures share, not visits so it’s a little hard to translate but as background, Google had 5.38% of all U.S. visits last week, according to Hitwise.   Thanks to Hitwise & Matt for putting together the chart.

But flyoceanic.com did increase traffice dramatically based on its trend. In addition, if you did visit that site it told you to go to find815.com

  7. Alfie — I agree with you. I guess my only question becomes if the site that was referred to FROM FlyOceanicAir.com had more traffic than FlyOceanicAir, I wasn't sure what to make of the level of convergence. But no matter, Lost fans LOVE Lost, and here is some more info from Hitwise to back that up.
