Nielsen Ratings Tue, Feb 5: All FOX

Posted on 06 February 2008 by Robert Seidman

Scoreboard for Tue. Feb. 5, 2008 FOX NBC CBS ABC CW
Total Viewers (million) 25.52 7.16 6.12 5.26 2.36
Rating/Share: Adults 18-49 10.1/24 2.8/7 1.5/4 1.4/3 1.0/2

While American Idol’s bloom is off the rose and ratings for the season, at least on a viewer basis are down ~16% versus last year, it’s still quite the franchise. Between Idol and the last new episode of House, FOX dominated in total viewers and the 18-49 demographic, especially up against all the Super Tuesday Election coverage.

CBS ran a repeat of NCIS, then 2 hours of election coverage. ABC ran with all three hours focusing on election results and NBC ran a 2 hour installment of The Biggest Loser, followed by an hour of election coverage.

Over on the CW was a rerun of Reaper and a new episode of One Tree Hill, which given everything performed pretty well.

Interestingly, I am both a long time fan of L&O; and a new, but rabid, fan of House. Go figure.

BTW, Mrs. O'Leary, was it really your cow?

I am an avid Law & Order fan – I have the original L & O and SVU stories memorized I've watched them so many times. Now I'm learning to love L&O Criminal Intent. I liked House starting late last season and I was hooked on it until they put my favorite character Dr. Wilson in a relationship messing things up on Super Bowl Sunday. I can't stand to watch it anymore. Sometime tell me he ever gets out of the relationship and I'll watch again. House and Wilson as singles fussing over love etc. are like the Odd Couple.

And speaking of Law & Order – SVU – the writers rushed too much through the scripts this year and the characters did things they would never do if you paid attention to the series all along.
