TVbytheNumbers.com hopes to be your home for Nielsen ratings data for Jericho. Beginning with the season 2 premiere on 2/12/2008 we will begin reporting data. We’ll have the overnight numbers up on our site (data Gods willing) on 2/13/08, and the final weekly LIVE plus SAME DAY DVR usage numbers will go up the following Tuesday (in the case of the premiere, we will post the final weekly numbers on 2/19/2008). We will include HH rating and share info, total viewers as well as number of viewers by the 18-49, 18-34, and 25-54 age demographics.

It seems to me that the long breaks killed Jericho. The show lost 2mil viewers in the 11/29-2/21 break. The nuts campain probably got the Season 2 Premiere numbers to match the season one end, but with new viewers. The new viewers after watching probably said I got to watch the first season. I see the 5/9/07-2/19/08 losing another 2 million. Nine months is a long time. A lot of people were probably looking for these new 7 episodes around Oct'07.

I LOVE Jericho. I have never gotten involved in a 'save a show' campaign before but Jericho got me hooked. Neilsen just doesn't represent the crowd that watches shows like Jericho. The original Star Trek suffered from poor ratings and was canceled. Other great shows like Firefly were also never represented. It's just sad. I soo wish I was a Nielsen family.

I thought the second half of this season of Stargate Atlantis has 'jumped the shark'. After the big allied battle, the show just lost something, and I'm not sure what it is.

How do Networks know how many people are watching a show. I think Nielsen families are an urban legend. I have never heard of one let alone known one. Do they actually exist? How many are there? Other than logging on to a Networks website how do they know anyone is watching?They claim increasing viewership will keep a show from being canceled but how will they know. andrea belous: Its statistics. Here in the Czech republic there are 3 companies doing statistical surveys. Our last parliament election showed 4 totally different results – from these 3 companies + the real result.

the nielsen ratings system is Very inacurate and flawed system , they have 35,000 people in 12,000 housholds making ratings decisions for the whole country. now that’s rediculous. we need a better way to count who watching tv programs.

Damn it, CBS isn’t doing a good job promoting the showm and at Tuesdays and 10pm…i got school and i wake up very early, i do my best to watch it, i have to record and i leave the TV on…i’m trying to get people to watch it but they want the first season and if not the time slot’s a problem…and when i watch other CBS shows like GW, Moonlight, Numbers i don’t see one Jericho promo, hell, Sci Fi’s doing a better job promoting it (saw a promo while watching Doctor Who)

Jericho is great. Unfortunately those of us with the intelligent and thinking ability to appreciate it are in the miniority. The majority of people would rather watch idiots make fools of themselves on reality shows like “Big Brother” or “Wife Swap”. I hope Jericho is renewed by CBS or at least picked up by SciFi with new shows.

May be we should all boycot CBS and let them really know what is going on. When ever there is a good show it gets axed. Then all we get is the burnt to a crisp reality shows. Surivor isnt that in its 100th season by now. That show is so done, you can only starve people so many times. CBS needs to get a clue, once Jericho’s season has ended boycot CBS.

It is a shame, but if season 1 moved as fast as season 2, this show would be the next ‘lost’. I missed about 6 episodes in season 1 and don’t even feel like I missed anything important in the show. Season 2 is moving fast and is exciting. They spent too much time on character development too early into the series, IMHO. Nuclear disaster and the focus is on the annoying Mayor and his wife.

Robert, any theories as to why Jericho has been leeching viewers steadily since its premiere? With all the media attention after the show was brought back from the dead (you can’t buy that kind of publicity!), I would’ve thought ratings would’ve been much higher. Alternative ways of watching the show could allow for a somewhat higher viewership, but it’s difficult to explain a 50 percent drop from the first season premiere.
I think your suggestion earlier about the CW picking up the show is a good one. Any chance of that becoming a reality, do you think?

Jericho is the only show I’ve watched regularly and fervently on television in the last 8 years. No other show has even made me consider turning the set on. As a law student I have little free time, but I will always make room for Jericho. It is a GREAT departure from the typical crap generally available that the mindless masses seem to gobble up with insatiable appetites. Unfortunately, those masses are what make the money for the networks and good quality programming like Jericho I guess can’t compete =/
Jericho is the only show I've watched regularly and fervently on television in the last 8 years. No other show has even made me consider turning the set on. As a law student I have little free time, but I will always make room for Jericho. It is a GREAT departure from the typical crap generally available that the mindless masses seem to gobble up with insatiable appetites. Unfortunately, those masses are what make the money for the networks and good quality programming like Jericho I guess can't compete =/

How do Networks know how many people are watching a show. I think Nielsen families are an urban legend. I have never heard of one let alone known one. Do they actually exist? How many are there? Other than logging on to a Networks website how do they know anyone is watching?They claim increasing viewership will keep a show from being canceled but how will they know. Please answer as no one ever can give me an answer to this. Thnks

I think they really did not know whether the show would be continued or not, but in my opinion, placing it in the 9:00 time slot was going to sink its ratings.
I think the plot branches are:
1. “Revolution” – Jake starts the revolution and it is continued into a new season
2. “Stop the Bomb” – Jake helps Hawkins stop the bomb and reveal the conspiracy
I thought you could tell last night by the way the episode spent so much time on the visions Jake had leading to revolution, only to then see him team with Hawkins to go to Cheyenne.
Bottom line: show’s done. But… wouldn’t it be awesome if SciFi picked it up, ran Season 2 from the start, picked the “Revolution” ending, and continued witha third season. Any hint of that – anyone?

if jericho gets dropped because of its numbers then i hope sci-fi will pick up this great show it would be a shame if jericho was cancelled for good and if the sci-fi channell picked up the show skeet would be essential no skeet no jericho

“Only” 6 mil viewers? How many watch The Biggest Loser or some of those other “loser” reality and sit-com shows? And how do “they” get the numbers of viewers? How about those folks who record it and watch it later or a second time? Who at CBS has it in for Jericho anyhow? And just how many shows have been brought back by ardent fans – 2? If not peanuts, then what? Any ideas? This show has tons of potential with terrific characters and plot elements. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL! I having been waiting this season for US of America to win. Jericho show has me crying, proud, angry (the stupid flag that is not the US flag), glad to see Mimi get engaged to have a family. Very angry the deaf girl was killed, but proud of her for defending her family and land.
Why can’t you find a place to put it where it has a chance to get a good rating? There are so many shows that are repeating, again and again, I would think you could find a time slot.
There is so much garbage and trash on TV we have only3 current shows we watch, (which are not reality tv shows) and old shows on TV Land.
We are watching less and less on TV. Why….too much junk. I don’t want to see any more people sing, dance, lose weight. reunions,
giving roses for “sex”, living in a house with people you don’t know, redo houses so people cannot afford them later, Oprah decide who is worthy.. have not watched and will not watch.

Done with CBS they do have some other shows that I watch but not anymore. There are many other shows that have been axed and brought back. CBS needs to give Jericho more of a chance and at a better time slot. Bye bye CBS.

I just sent a letter to the Sci-Fi channel, asking them to pick up Jericho-via snail mail (per request at their website).
Personally I am tired of the Nielsen Family choosing what I can and can’t watch that I don’t really watch much tv at all anymore. But until more people let the networks and cable channels know what they’re watching, again via snail mail, skewed ratings will be the death of many decent programs.
The sad thing is, Jericho was really something different. We’ve had cop shows, detective shows, reality shows, game shows and inane comedies shoved down our throats for so long the shows like this are a refreshing change of pace.

I agree, Neilson in so antiquated it should be dumped, not Jericho. It would be easier and more reliable for the cable and satellite industries to monitor the channels viewed at any given hour, with the household’s permission that is.

The Jericho rating died because people were breaking the law and watching it on the computer, this was a great show and just what american needed to help recover from 911
