While the Super Tuesday election coverage was so little watched on broadcast television that it didn’t merit a mention in the weekly top broadcast shows, the story was a little different on cable where four shows (3 CNN, one FOX News Channel) made the top ten.
It wasn’t enough to best WWE RAW, which claimed the top two spots, or Disney’s Chicken Little, but coverage on CNN narrowly bested SpongeBob. It’s not that more people don’t care about the elections, so don’t be mortified that more people watched WWE RAW. More people didn’t watch WWE RAW, it’s just that the election coverage was spread out over many channels (broadcast and cable).
Would I rather live in a country where CNN or FOX could’ve bested WWE RAW with Super Tuesday coverage anyway? Given the candidates on either side - no. I’d rather watch WWE RAW! And I never watch WWE RAW.
Project Runway makes the list for Bravo at number 10 and our squarepanted friend could put but 6 airings on the list this week. Zoey 101 was back to its normal 3.5 millionish, however to be honest as I don’t watch the show, and the Nielsen data doesn’t indicate it, I can’t be sure whether it was a first-run airing or a repeat. If any Zoey fans are out there and know, please chime in.
Note to Nip Tuck fans, it ranked 14th on a cable HH ratings basis, but in viewers it ranked 27th.

wow! Psych dropped a good number of viewers without Monk as a lead in. That makes me question the wisdom of burning a new Psych without pairing it with a new Monk. Seems like USA would’ve been better off having the 2 hour Monk spread over two weeks than saving for this Friday. Of course, if Monk and Psych pick up a significant amount of viewers this week, that would be a win for the network.
Also, I’m interested in how the Phineas and Ferb show is doing for Disney. My family has had a blast with that show.

Phineas and Ferb is doing pretty well I’d say. It didn’t make the top 20 this week, but it did make the top 40 with 3.31 million viewers

question regarding Nip/Tuck. “it ranked 14th on a cable HH ratings basis, but in viewers it ranked 27th.”. Can you explain what this means. I don’t understand this, any insight is appreciated
February 13th, 2008 at 9:23 am
Nielsen measures multiple things. One thing they measure is the # of Households tuned into the show. Based on the HH rankings, Nip Tuck ranked 14th.
But Nielsen also measures total viewers. Sometimes shows with a higher household rating have fewer viewers watching per house than other shows.
We believe in viewer numbers so we rank that way usually instead of by the household data.

thanks so much for answering the question. is there on ranking that’s more important than another in regards to how the show is doing?

This is a longshot, but the folks here have always been friendly. Are there any numbers/ratings for Stargate Atlantis which aired on Friday @ 10/9C? Thanks.
February 19th, 2008 at 8:23 am
Marc, all we get is the weekly cable top 40 and due to the President’s Day holiday we won’t get them until tomorrow. There is ZERO chance Stargate Atlantis will be among the top 40 programs so unless the SciFi channel releases a press release, we won’t see the #s.
Great episode though and I LOVED the whole “You say indeed a lot” “Really? I was not aware of that.” exchange!

Thanks Robert, I figured it was a longshot. Sadly we have to wait for SCI FI and they only release the ratings and not the actual viewers. Thanks for replying though. Oh and yes, great episode Indeed!
