Catch “Dexter” this Sunday on CBS

Cast of Dexter

While I will be the first to say Moonves has ridiculous hubris for sticking his much younger, much hotter wife’s show (Big Brother) up against American Idol instead of putting it in a timeslot that makes sense, I will applaud CBS for giving a shot at taking its “hit” (if a show that has never had 2 million weekly viewers can be considered a hit) Dexter from the Showtime network and airing it on the broadcast mothership.

Dexter, plain and simple is a guilt-free romp. All fun, no strings attached. From the opening theme sequence (perfect) to the ending credits it is usually a pure joyride.  Crazy subject matter, yes, but they pull it off.  Great writing,  great filming, great ensemble cast.  While I liked season one more than season two, I enjoyed them both, and since it’s season one which will be debuting tomorrow, I say: don’t miss it.  And if you’re able, be sure to watch it in High Def.  It’s stunning.

The show has the double-Seidman seal of approval.  I recommended a bunch of stuff to my brother Steve to watch.  Then I told him I loved Dexter, but wasn’t sure he’d like it.  He bought the season one DVDs and loved it.  You’ll love it too.  Check it out Sunday night at 10pm (actually my DVR’s program guide lists the start time at 9:57pm – weird) and enjoy finding out how forensic specialist Dexter Morgan hides his double life as a serial killer from his friends and family in the Miami Police Department.

I love this show and have fat crush on Dexter's sister, who has a great butt! But I doubt they will showcase her assets on CBS so one of the best “parts” of Dexter will be missing for me.

What would be a good rating for Dexter?

Even original episodes of other shows are low figures.

I am very interested in seeing how will CBS “water” the show down, seeing that the show is too gruesome for network TV. This is why Dex is on prime cable. It is one of my top 5 shows of the moment after all. The Wire, Lost, Friday Night Lights, BSG and Dexter. Top 5 in that order.

  8. JimBo, given CBS Sunday night performance with shows like Shark and Cold Case, “good” would be in the neighborhood of 12 million or better. “Bad” would be ~9 million or fewer.
