Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that NBC has partnered with DirecTV to produce the next season of Friday Night Lights. No word on exactly what that means for the show and DirecTV, but it seems that the football, and everything else, will go on.
This is the best news of the day. Bill see if you can dig up information on how they are goint to work the NBC/DirctTV angle. I don't have the DirctTV so I hope it will be show on Cable NBC and not just DirctTV NBC. I hope info on that will come in the next few weeks.
Bryan, that is the big question. Why would DirecTV put up money if they were not given some advantage? Yet, what advantage could NBC provide? I will keep my ear to the ground.

Maybe this is like… that soap opera Passions, which now airs on “The 101″ which is a DirecTV only channel?

I am going to have to make new friends that have DirectTV so they can tape it for me. I am going to walk the neighborhood today and find some dishes and knock on the doors.LOL
my guess is that itll be online before its on nbc. after first being on a directv channel, of course. nbc might be using this show to experiment with alternate types of airing a show.
I can't imagine DTV not having the broadcast exclusive. I can't imagine it wouldn't be available online only not via iTunes since NBC Uni has at least for the time being bailed out of that deal. I will be surprised if it is available via FREE streaming on NBC's site. That would seem to defeat any benefit for DTV.

If this deal comes to pass, Friday Night Lights would air on both DirectTV and NBC. Presumably, DirectTV viewers would get the episode first, perhaps a week ahead of NBC. But that is pure speculation. The final deal has not been announced.

Keeping our fingers crossed in Atlanta! My husband and I are in our early 40’s but have no problem relating to issues on the show. We will be very disappointed if the show is cancelled. The show makes you want to stay home on Friday!
