Again, Lost is Most Time-Shifted Show in US By Viewers And Percentage

For the second week in a row, Lost had both the largest time-shifted audience and the highest % viewership gain from time-shifting of any primetime broadcast network show. With 3.98 million time-shifted (DVR) viewers, Lost had the largest absolute time-shifted audience for the week of February 25 - March 2, followed by Tuesday’s American Idol with 3.84 million time-shifted viewers. Rounding out the top 10 for was Wednesday’s American Idol, Thursday’s American Idol, Survivor: Micronesia, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Medium, Celebrity Apprentice, Wednesday’s Big Brother and Law & Order.
I’m going to chalk up Lost’s high time-shifted viewership to the fact that the Thursday 9pm timeslot is highly viewed and very competitive among adults 18-49, with 4 of the shows getting 18-49 ratings above a 3.0. That’s a lot of likely more DVR owning adults who don’t want to miss one or more of those shows.
NBC and Fox tied for the most shows (5) out of the top 20 in absolute time-shifted audience size.

LOST stands alone, not just at the top, but in terms of being the lone scripted drama in the list with almost 50% of its DVR viewing happening the same day. There definitely appears to be a trend with the reality shows of front-loaded viewing. Aside from LOST,that does not seem to be the case at all for scripted programming.

Wow…”the Summer effect” seems to be working it’s magic again. Week after week after week, 1.8 million DVR viewers for Sarah Connor. That has to be the most consistent DVR viewership in history. I hope somebody at FOX is paying attention.
By the way, Bill, Robert, any chance of a graph of that? I’d be curious to see how steady that line is once the numbers for the finale come out.

I can’t wait to see next weeks numbers. TSCC had it’s weakest ratings on the 25th of February but it rebounded solid in the season finale. I think the time-shifted numbers will go up next week. I believe this show is in the clear and we will see a much deserved second season this fall. Hopefully we will see the originally intended season ender incorporated in season 2.

Those are some pretty stable numbers alright. That’s almost a straight line. Very curious to see the next installment, if the finale stayed consistent.
