CBS took the night in both overall viewers and the 18-49 year old demographic with new episodes of Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs with the primetime version of The Price is Right making its 9pm debut. In a very minor victory for scripted programming, both dramas did over nine million viewers and marginally beat TPIR in the 18-49 demo. TPIR got 8.55 which was still more than any other show not airing on CBS.
The soon to be off the airwaves Amne$ia demonstrated why NBC cancelled it, but ABC, not NBC had the rougher night, averaging less than a half million more viewers than the CW! The CW actually came in third in the 18-49 demo, of course it did show with a show it decided to let get away – Friday Night Smackdown!. I await anxiously (ok, that’s a stretch) to see how the CW does on Friday night’s next year, or whether Nielsen even decides to report over night numbers for that Network anymore. We’ll see.
Cantebury’s Law looks poised for the dead pool. While it improved over a repeat of Bones, it’s 18-49 rating was below 1.5, and FOX landed last in the demo for the night.

Robert – Do you have any idea where some of the CBS viewers go at 9:00? I was thinking maybe Monk, but I don’t think it was on last night. Any thoughts? Just curious.

Robert – I should have included this in my first question, but will we ever know how BSG did last night?

Polly, I don’t have enough data to even reasonably speculate. I mean Numb3rs competed with the premiere of BSG and still built almost 1.5 million over TPIR.
While I don’t think it will be in the cable top 40, I do believe we will wind up seeing the BSG #s one way or the other.

Thanks – I was wondering because it seems like no matter what CBS puts on at 9 they lose viewers and it doesn’t appear that they migrate to the other major networks.

yep, but if they put a new ep of CSI: Miami there, it would be the most watched show of the night.

Yikes! The evil that shall not be named. Just what we need another CSI. (Unless we got CSI: Caprica)

One of my HD cable channels plays reruns of CSI: Miami all the time. Say what you will about the show, but my goodness does it look phenomenal in HD.

Oh, I’m not saying I don’t watch CSI. In fact I watch all of them. Not sure why on some nights. I just don’t want to see another one put on CBS. I do like a little variety in my TV viewing.
HD would be beautiful. Lucky you!

lauren, We’ll definitely know if it was in the top 40 cable shows. That list is out tomorrow.
If it isn’t, and that’s quite possible, we’ll keep scrambling to get it.

Bill, Travis Y. usually sooner or later will post Friday final numbers in the overnight results post on Bermans site for Friday. Usually if there is something interesting on cable, he posts those results. I haven’t seen anything yet though and I am now off to the McCovey cove..

As per BSG, it was a season premiere. Folks like myself waited over a year for it. So I am sure SCI FI or someone will release those numbers by this week.
