Tuesday’s American Idol has a Time-Shifted Audience of 3.6 Million

Tuesday’s American Idol had the largest time-shifted (DVR viewed) audience at 3.552 million of any primetime broadcast network show for the week of March 17-23, 2008. Idol was followed by Lost with 3.478 million time-shifted viewers. Rounding out the top 10 for was Wednesday’s American Idol, Survivor: Micronesia, Two and A Half Men, two episodes of Dancing With The Stars, Medium, New Amsterdam, and Celebrity Apprentice.
CBS had the most shows (7) out of the top 20 in absolute time-shifted audience size.
New Amsterdam while finding itself “on the bubble” with Fox, still commands a significant DVR audience.
Among other “bubble” shows, Eli Stone has yet to be renewed by ABC, but NBC announced last week that Lipstick Jungle has been renewed for Fall 2008.
And while the CW does quite well in the top time-shifted shows by % increase list it placed just Smallville in the absolute time-shifting list this week (although America’s Top Model was just off the list at #21)
Two and A Half Men returned to the CBS schedule and went right to the #5 position, an impressive return performance. Other CBS shows have returned over the past 2 weeks, and it will be interesting to see where they land on the list. Other CBS sitcoms How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory also find themselves on the list, although well down at #13 and #19.
Jericho, a favorite of our readers, backed up to #12 on the list. Stories are about that Comcast might strike a deal with CBS to save the show.

Robert,
What are your thoughts (if any) on NA’s time shifted numbers vis-a-vis those watching live?

Holly, I’ll get the Live+SD numbers in later today if possible. Robert’s the Live+SD guy and he’s out of the office.

Holly, it was impossible to fit the entire table with my current tabling system, so I created another table with the Live+SD data. Robert will be back next Monday to do it as he wishes.

Andrea, NA seems to be in the category of “I’ll record it and watch it when I can” since most of it’s time-shifted viewing isn’t the same day.
The other groups of shows I’ll call “I’ll catch it later tonight” or even “I’m time-shifting *just* to skip the commercials” are the shows with their % SD viewing well above 50%.
