FOX of course still dominated the top of the charts with its two airings of American Idol (#1 and #2), but a new episode of CSI jumped into the number three position. New scripted shows worked out well for CBS, which was back to its “most-watched status” (most total viewers) and won the 25-54 demographic for the week as a result.
The new shows, coupled with NCAA basketball led CBS to twelve out of the twenty positions on this chart. With CSI (#3), two airings of CSI: Miami (#6 and #10), Without a Trace (#7), Two and a Half Men (#8) and Saturday’s NCAA semifinal (#9) all making the top ten for CBS.
FOX had five shows on the list. Joining American Idol were the season premiere of Hell’s Kitchen (#16), Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader (#18) and Moment of Truth (#19).
That left only three slots for ABC and NBC to fight over. ABC took two of them with Dancing with the Stars (#4 and #5). The best NBC could do was #20, with Deal or No Deal.
ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was a repeat, and didn’t make the top 20, but was still the #25 program by total viewers overall. Orprah’s Big Give was not a repeat, but fell to #30 with 9.42 million viewers.
ABC at least has new episodes of Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy and LOST to look forward to. Even with its new “year-round” schedule, it looks like NBC doesn’t have much at all to look forward to until the Fall.
