American Idol’s second annual Idol Gives Back telethon dominated the broadcast spectrum from 8pm-10pm with 17.60 million viewers and a 6.7/18 rating/share in the 18-49 demographic. FOX cruised to another nightly victory, but if you had any doubt that a telethon is not as popular as the regular talent show, doubt no more. The last time a 2 hour edition of AI appeared on a Wednesday this season (Feb 20, 2008), Idol drew in 28.67 million and had an 11.1/27. Still, pulling in close to 18 million viewers for a telethon and winning the night anyway is an impressive show of dominance.
Other than Big Brother at 8pm and its lackluster showing, CBS fared very nicely with new episodes of Criminal Minds and CSI: NY. Minds drew over 13 million viewers and a 3.3/8 in the 18-49 demographic which led CBS to second place finishes overall, and in the 18-49 demo.
Over on ABC, Wife Swap couldn’t draw even five million, and fared well under a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 age demo. Supernanny cracked the 5 million mark, but not 6 million, althou at least it did better than a 2.0 rating in the demo. ABCs most watched show of the night was Primetime: The Last Lecture – A Love Story For Your Life, drawing over 8.2 million and a 2.7/7 in the 18-49 category.
Other than Deal or No Deal, which drew over 9.6 million and a 2.4/7 in the 18-49 demo, NBC ran with repeats of Law & Order: CI, and Law & Order

Secret Talents of the Stars axed after one episode! Some secrets are meant NOT to be shared.
Mr. Sulu the singing cowboy will be a good trivia question. “George Takei sang country songs on what horrible reality show that was cancelled after its first episode?”

While I don’t think CBS will try another winter run of Big Brother in a while I must say at least it didn’t get axed or shortened. If CBS is trying to get some celebrity shows on air maybe they should finally go ahead with an edition of Celebrity Survivor and/or Celebrity Big Brother. Celebrity Big Brother is a huge ratings winner in the UK from what I have read. (Plus its only 25-30 days

This is SO weird, stars who sell this huge no. of records dont get enough ratings and idols who fare so well when it comes to ratings could not sell as many records

Marc Berman says “New Amsterdam” fits “House” repeats like a glove. Berman’s bar mitzvah suit fit like a glove…not like a suit. Bloated, pasty faced Marc Berman, who has a face for radio, is the only human who can make Jeff Zucker look like Antonio Banderas. Berman’s a “TV Insider” like I’m George Clooney.
