Out of sheer weariness, I suggest that reruns of the Arthur Murray Party could shell DWTS from a safe distance.

Curious little thing that my browser appears to do. It blocks online video ads. No clue why, but I watch hulu.com and abc.com full length episodes all the time, and I have only once ever seen an ad. I believe it's because I have an add-on to Safari. It's either Saft or Safari Ad-block. Not sure, but that's the only explanation I can come up with. Definitely not complaining though!

Angus, that makes sense, especially with relatively few Friday viewers. Then again, the AdAge survey has CSI (on Thursdays at 9pm) at 248,000 per 30 second spot -- less than DH, on Sunday with more viewers. Even if the Grey's # is greatly exaggerated relative to everything else on the survey, it still seems the youth demos drive those rates and that females 18-34 play a role.

If the Gossip Girl $76,000 # in the survey is used to calculate CPM against actual viiewers, Gossip Girl has the highest primetime CPM of any show ~$27 for 30 second spot (on a Wednesday). Looking at it that way, GG carries the highest premium and has a higher CPM than even Grey's.

I think the Greys premium is exaggerated, but it is mostly reflective of the demand for GRPs on thursday night vs sunday. Retail, Theatrical, Autos all willing to pay premiums to reach audiences heading into the weekend.

I'm not as sure as you Angie. If less than 1.5 million 18-34 year olds is a big deal in pricing Grey's vs DH then GG had episodes where it was in that neighborhood. 11/14 it did 2.95m overall live+SD, with 1.39 million 18-34 year olds.

Yeah, that does finally explain the CW's neuroticsm over Gossip Girl. Too bad I've seen the 18-34 numbers, and they are barely higher than any of their other shows. Not even their target demographc wants to watch that station. Perhaps if Dawn Ostroff got her head out of Les Moonves' ass, she would get fired and the network could move forward.
