Battlestar Galactica Nielsen Ratings: Down Again, But Not Much

Posted on 21 April 2008 by Robert Seidman

Mary McDonnell as Laura Roslin on Battlestar GalacticaBattlestar Galatica’s ratings were down again versus the previous week’s Friday @10pm airing, but only by 60,000 viewers. Based on fan reaction to this past Friday’s episode I doubt we’ll see any significant bleeding next week. The fans seemed to have loved the episode.

I’ll be hanging on for sure at least one more week now that Comcast in San Francisco has added SciFi HD to the high definition lineup (channel 736), and hopefully I won’t experience any problems with the HD telecast. Mild spoilers below the data table.

Date Episode HH Rating/Share Viewers (millions) 18-49 Rating/Share
04/04/2008 He That Believeth in Me 1.3/2 2.138 1.1/3
04/11/2008 Six of One 1.1/2 1.801 0.9/3
04/18/2008 The Ties That Bind 1.1/2 1.741 0.8/3

I think I’m just worn out by last year and want them to just get to Earth already. Sure, the Cylons are now immersed in a great civil war, sure they’re now as human as we as the humans (killing, really killing their own). But as sure as I’m sitting here this ends with humans and Cylons coexisting peacefully on planet Earth.

I’m pretty sure I’m not a Cylon, but there’s a song playing in my head anyway: “Cylon and Human” to the tune of Ebony and Ivory.

In the meanwhile, it’s very cool to see them blow stuff up — I’m sure it will look even cooler in high def. Still a tragic waste of some perfectly good number 6 models.

Note to Polly, not enough text to go crazy with the pictures this week. Next week, beefcake. ;)

Robert - Roslin looks pretty good don’t you think? I’ll hold you to the next week beefcake promise. (I don’t even watch BSG anymore. I just like the equal opportunity thing!)

Better than pretty good. Hollywood actress good! :)

Looks like Dr. Who could not get more viewers for BSG. They had their season premiere right before BSG.

yep. Dr Who had about 1.4 million from 8:30p to 10:00p. I was surprised that it was relatively so close to BSG

I did not watch season three except first two episodes for I was burned out on the dark theme and everyone on the edge of death every darn episode. I am glad I did not for I really did not miss much did I. Get to earth then leave us hanging for another six months into 2009,,,booooooooooooo

A 1.9 HH Rating for BSG’s premiere and nearly 2.7 million viewers after Live + 7!

Those are the season premiere numbers, after SciFi Channel used their new math. Fact is, that Galactica In Name Only (GINO) has lost viewers since the season premiere and has lost 69% of its audience since it’s been on the air. That’s pretty bad.
