I'm not sure you'll be able to infer much, the New York teams are a bigger draw nationally than the Philadelphia teams (though it's a safe bet the Sixers will outdraw the Knicks the rest of the season!). But how will you know that people didn't tune in for the Mets? Plus even if you're not a Sixers fan, playoff basketball in April is probably more of a draw than an MLB game so it was against more competition than it will have down the road.

Until the data comes out you can probably safely infer now that the regardless of the # of viewers, the game had less than a 2.1 rating and most likely (though not necessarily) less than 2.9 million viewers.

as a phils fans, im interested to see how well they can draw a national fan base. obviously the last game happened to be on at the same time as the sixers upset of the pistons, so many of us didnt turn it on until around 900.

kayarn, we have actually gotten weekly sports data from Nielsen for the last two weeks. I hesitate to call it a trend, but look this Friday or next Monday for a list for April 14-20.
