10.9 million Watch Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune topped all other syndicated shows with a viewership of 10.9 million for the week of April 14-20, 2008.
Note: Many daytime syndicated shows were pre-empted during parts of this week to broadcast elements of the Pope’s visit to the US, lowering their ratings.

Is the 10.9 Million the combined audience for the week or is that number what the show averages nightly? Inquring minds want to know!

It’s the nightly average for the week, Phil.
Bill, please add boilerplate to these posts explaining that it’s the average of all weekly airings.

That’s really astonishing.
So, Wheel and Jeopardy do better than many, many prime-time shows?
Why isn’t a bigger deal made of these shows?
Is it because they’ve always pulled in the solid numbers? I mean, for the same program every night and every week, that’s a lot of viewers!

Phil, my guess is that the reason you don’t see a lot written about them is that the TV writers don’t find them that interesting. They’re old shows and they’re all about raking in the money, not creativity, etc.
That said, they are spectacular moneymakers. The holy grail for half hour sitcom producers is getting enough episodes in the can for syndication.
Also, look at Oprah, she produces her show and the Dr. Phil Show and she’s one of the wealthiest women in the US.

I agree with Bill down the line — and when the analysts were grilling CBS chief Les Moonves yesterday, what did he throw in their faces? CSI: Miami, 2.5 Men, King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond syndication!
the list rarely changes much. Even though SpongeBob dominates the weekly cable charts, at least there are a few new things to write about every week. Wheel of Fortune has been the number one show every week ALL year.

Wow… I had no idea these shows were picking up those kinds of numbers. 2.5 is a do not miss/DVR in reruns here, with Simpsons, FamGuy and Seinfeld (how many times have I seen these now) not far behind.
BTW… where/what is WKND, didn’t see it mentioned – a Superstation, I imagine.
