Women’s Murder Club: Renew or Cancel?

5/13 UPDATE: Women’s Murder Club Has Been Cancelled

womens-murder-club.gif

April 30, 2008 Update: with lackluster performance in a new time slot following Dancing With the Stars, WMC seems to be trending towards “cancel”. The original “renew by the slightest of margins” verdict reached last December now looks even slimmer. This may be one show that actually has a shot at performing better on Friday night. Here’s the original post:

ABC’s Women’s Murder Club, Friday 9PM Eastern, has got both Angie Harmon and a San Francisco location [personal bias!] But it’s been consigned to Friday nights, often thought of as a primetime Death Zone.

Even with that handicap it has pulled some respectable average viewer numbers, and so we ask: Renew or Cancel?

Within a very strong ABC new show line up, Women’s Murder Club ratings have been between second and fourth for both ABC new shows and all new shows in general.

Women’s Murder Club ratings rankings are even more impressive considering its position on Friday, a relatively light viewer night overall.

How is it doing against its competition on Friday?

More than any other new show we’ve looked at, Women’s Murder Club ratings show a radical skewing towards older, and I mean much older viewers.

It has won its timeslot in terms of average viewers each and every week, but except for its debut week and to an extent on 12/7, it has trailed badly in the youth age demographics. Case in point, on November 23, Women’s Murder Club ratings for adults 18-34 in its timeslot were sixth.

After the post-debut dip, Women’s Murder Club ratings have been reasonably stable and relatively high for average viewers for a Friday night, but nobody born since 1975 is watching the show.

(*10/26 data is Live, all other data is Live+SD, useful for rankings but not viewership trends).

Conclusions

Positives

  1. Women’s Murder Club ratings have been near the top for all new shows since its debut and near the top for ABC, even more so after Samantha Who?’s post-Dancing swoon.
  2. Women’s Murder Club ratings have won its timeslot for average viewers every single week it has aired.

Negatives

  1. Women’s Murder Club ratings for adults 18-34 have been woeful, and 18-49 ratings have not been much better.

Verdict: Renew by the slimmest of margins.

Women’s Murder Club ratings are a test of exactly how much ABC values young viewers. If it’s renewed, not so much. If it’s cancelled, plenty.

Strike Status: I have somewhat conflicting information, but I believe that as of today there are 1-2 fresh episodes left. I have no information on when they (it) will air.

“Women’s Murder Club ratings are a test of exactly how much ABC values young viewers. If it’s renewed, not so much. If it’s cancelled, plenty.”

I disagree. I think whether or not ABC renews “Women’s Murder Club” will demonstrate how much the network values *diversity* among all viewers.

Not everyone who watches TV and is a worthy consumer is also between the ages of 18 and 34/49. It’s nothing short of ridiculous how much importance advertisers and their minions attach to those last two demos. But, yeah, that’s the way it is…

  2. Rena Moretti says:

To put it another way, if ABC cancels WMC it shows that ageism is King in Hollywood.

I don’t think that’s going to happen. WMC is one of the only 2-3 new shows that are actually good.

It has thrived in spite of very scant promotion and a really, really bad title that made a lot of people not give it a first look.

If ABC bothered to promote it the way it promoted the awful (in my view) Pushing Daisies, this show would have been flying from the start.

If ABC doesn’t renew it, then what is it going to renew? Samantha Who? that few watch if it’s not stuck after that dancing show?

  3. Rena Moretti says:

About the idea that Friday is the Prime time Death Zone:

That’s what the networks were saying about Saturdays and now they don’t even bother to program that night. Is Friday next? When does it stop?

I’m amazed the networks don’t seem to realize that to have big hits you have to have a number of shows out there.

CSI started on Fridays just to give an example.

Saturday used to be a high viewership night. The only reason it’s not is that network programmers are way too in tune with their slanted views of who should watch TV to make them look “hip”.

  4. Rena Moretti says:

    Two more thoughts:

WMC is the highest rated show on ABC that night. I don’t see how its renewal could even be in question.

It improves on its lead-in and is the tentpole of the night.

As far as the low young viewers ratings, I think ABC has a lot to account for on that one. Any show or movie with strong female leads gets a big female following. I don’t think ABC even bothered to do anything to reach that audience.

They probably think that “on Friday Nights, young people are out” and that’s the end of their “thinking” on this matter.

  5. jay turney says:

WMC’s renewal in this time of PC and slim pickings is obviously not in question. And that is the problem. I watched the show with a friend last night, as I’ve never seen it all the way through. Halfway through I realized this is not just a soap opera - it glorifies vigilantes, freelance women cops ( of course ) who single out men like a kind of star chamber. All they need is a lab technician and a Mike Nifong to make it a facsist paradise. Law and Order is bad enough. This is not just soap opera fluff - its dangerous. It indicates how ignorant the average American is of their constitutional rights. A real-life group like this would get a lot of cops rightfully fired - yes, even if they are as cute as Angie Harmon.

  6. Rena Moretti says:

Is this really a place for mis-directed political diatribes?

  7. Rena Moretti says:

Also, if anything, this show is quite socially liberal in tone and content.

  8. Merry says:

Love Angie Harmon, but the writing is too PC for me.

  9. Merry says:

Actually, I turned the show on a couple of times because I was interested in seeing Angie Harmon, and the subject matter of female sleuths attracted me.

But I am sick to death of shows that have political axes to grind. What ever happened to good, agenda-free storytelling? If this is the best that the writers can do, they may as well stay on strike, and let the actors improvise.

I would rather watch CBS on Friday nights, because Ghost Whisperer and Moonlight just tell the story and leave out the agendas.

  10. Heather says:

I love this show and would hate to see it cancelled. I don’t they have a good system in place to see who is exactly watching these shows. My whole family loves this show (ages range from 13 to 62). I think the studios cancel shows to early without giving them a proper chance to catch on.

  11. jay turney says:

Wow, somebody actually dared to say a TV show has political implications, and a few obviously benighted individuals were empowered to say, hmm, maybe? After years of seeing ” misdirected diatribes (!) from feminists saying this show or that show ( Ally McBeal, to name just one ) was somehow degrading to women, all I had to do was point out the obvious, and lo and behold the censors didn’t burn or throttle me! I not only stand by my diatribe, I plan on amplifying it in other forums. Law and order is a Nifong wetdream, and any competent defense lawyer can tell you why. As for misdirected, I did admit that the show will be renewed, and sheerly by profit motive ” should ” be. I thought the lack of taste and political feminazism of the show, and the entire female vigilante genre it represents, is a separate issue from its modest ratings success.

  12. Rena Moretti says:

Once again, I don’t think political diatribes are acceptable in this forum. This is not a site about politics.

If you want to complain about Hollywood Liberals being too Conservative (which is essentially what you’re doing) I am sure there are dozens of blogs out there for that.

Somehow I think you have an axe to grind with Angie Harmon because she’s not a member of your preferred political party. Guess what? She does not write or produce the show.

Speaking of the show: WMC is gathering a wide audience with nary a peep of advertising because it’s well-made, well-acted and tells interesting and fun stories. And they do get Police procedure pretty well… as well as you’d want for a show that doesn’t quote Law textbooks.

  13. Erin says:

I too LOVE this show! To be honest, CBS has played out CSI’s welcome. I enjoy the campiness of the show; yes some of the dialog is canned, but it is just a fictional TV show! It is meant to entertain! Why does everything have to become an argument with she short sighted and egomaniacs? I think that as someone who works with the darker side of humanity as were, that this is a refreshing take on the otherwise creepy and depressing side of those situations!!!!I agree with Rena and Heather

  14. Rena Moretti says:

    Thanks Erin :)

As for CBS wearing CSI’s welcome, it’s the usual pattern. CSI was the biggest recent hit because it was different and extremely well-made.

Instead of using that formula to make more well-made shows with an interesting twist, the networks try to clone the one show that worked until the whole genre becomes bland and boring.

Then they declare that the public’s taste has once again mysteriously changed, when in fact the public still hungers for quality.

  15. Laura says:

I would like to say I was born in 1987 after 1975 AND I LOVE THIS SHOW SO there goes your theory

  16. Kelley says:

Well, I’m well within the 18-49 range, at 23, and I happen to love the show…Then again, I am a married mother, maybe that means I don’t count…I really enjoy the show, though I was reluctant to watch it…The name sounded incredibly stupid to me, and I was planning on avoiding it completely. But, my husband was got called into surgery two fridays in a row, and I flipped to it, and now I’m hooked.

Please renew this show, it’s great! Don’t let it go the way of crossing jordan (I liked that one too).

  17. Melanie says:

I love this show! I am 29 and in my opinion, this is the best show on TV!

  18. Felecia says:

I’m 24 and I love it! My mother (54) and I either watch it together or DVR it and catch up later (Friday nights are tough nights to predict whether you’ll be home). I’d be disappointed if it were taken off the air.

  19. kemmi says:

i love this show! and im 22! its one of the good shows on tv now.:)

  20. Brittany says:

I love this show to death! It is my friday night highlight!!! And I am only 16 years old. So BRING BACK WOMEN’S MURDER CLUB!!! I can’t live without it, it is the best show on nowadays.

  21. lam0210 says:

I love WMC and have been waiting anxiously for its return. Please do NOT cancel. A thought….the folks who watch are probably the ones that have read James Patterson’s books. I have them all and just couldn’t wait for this series.

  22. Regina says:

I love this show. I almost didn’t watch it first time because of the title, think that might keep some people from tuning in to give it a chance, but if you watch it once, you get hooked. I look forward to it every week and DVR it if not going to be home. Please don’t cancel.

  23. Rena Moretti says:

The title is the main problem with this show. It may have worked as a book series title, but I think it forces ABC to promote it in spite of it. And ABC is not really putting its weight behind it (not unlike most other networks who seem to have an uncanny ability to put their weight behind DOA ratings losers like Bionic Woman).

  24. Morgan Ward says:

I’m absolutely in love with this show! I even booked friday nights off work so I could watch it!

  25. jazz says:

Ilove the womens murder club .I want the next eoisode. I cant wait hurry up

  26. Elaine Kirby says:

I think the strength of this show is the 4 intelligent, strong women that don’t complete with each other but support each other. There are lots of crime dramas but this one is unusual and I hope they don’t cancel it.

  27. Gwen says:

I have to say that this is one of the best shows on T.V. any night. Every Friday night my 15 & 16 yr old neices come over so that they can watch it with me. I also record it so that my 9 yr old daughter can watch it later. Yes, all of their b-days are after 1975! We all hope that they don’t cancel this show.

  28. COOKIE says:

I think this is great show… my three daughters born in 1988,1992 and 1994 watch it every week and we also tivo it so we can re-watch it.

    bring it back!please

  29. Shirley says:

I have read the books since the second book was out and was very happy when the decided to make the books into a show. I didn’t know how they would stay true to the books, but after watching the first show I didn’t even care. While things are different, they did manage to keep what was important about the characters.

As for the whole age thing, I am 22. I can say that without a doubt, I love this show and always look forward to the next episode. I think that the age thing has to do with a lot of things. For starters, it is on Friday. Most of us are out doing things on Friday or working(I have to dvr the show). Second, we respond to advertising a lot. I don’t think that ABC has done that enough with this show. I’ve seen a little but not enough.

I can’t wait for the writers strike to be over because I am missing my tv shows. There are only so many reruns you can watch till you are bored. I think that this might be the one I look forward to the most. Well, this or Bones. I really hope they don’t take it off the air.

  30. nymegan says:

womens murder club is GREAT! it has clever, smart alecky women banter. the characters are well drawn, well defined and extremely sympathetic. WMC stands out from the formulaic pack.

    SAVE IT!!!!

  31. Carmen says:

why mess with something that works? why do “they” think that the only “consumers” are the “younger” group? do the ratings really represent who is actually watching?

it would be a sad day if they cancel WMC. this show has heart, humar, tact, etc. it’s rare to find so many qualities in one show.

as for friday night being a “death” spot is crazy. those of us with DVR, VCR, TVO, etc. can record this for later watching. even if someone is going to be gone on vacation or something they can still set this to record. are the networks counting those viewers as well?

my vote is to RENEW WMC.

  32. Karla says:

I love this show…. I’ve also read all the books. And if I’m not at home on a Friday night, it’s automatically DVR’d. I’d hate to see this show cancelled. It’s a great womens show, it really protrays the relationships we have personally and professionally in out lives. I also love the humor of this show, it is a great mix of comedy and mystery!! Please don’t cancel!!

  33. Rena Moretti says:

Friday is only a “death spot” (and Saturday not even worth programming) because network executives say so. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Network executives want to feel “hip” and think that it’s “un-hip” to have people watch TV over the week-end.

So they dump the shows they don’t want to support on Friday (since now they don’t even program Saturdays - ever wonder why network ratings are down - that’s one of the reasons).

  34. Chelsea says:

I personally love this show it is one of my favorites and I look forward to seeing it every week. I am 17 and plenty of my friends watch the show. The polls don’t even account for people in my age group so they count be missing a lot of people.

  35. Joyce Tavares says:

Love this show…hope it’s not cancelled as I am looking forward to watching it weekly.

  36. Rena Moretti says:

I think WMC will grow its younger audience over time.

It doesn’t look to me like ABC marketed it at all with younger audiences (”it’s a Friday show and it’s a well-known established facts young people are out on Friday” is what ABC execs probably told themselves).

Actually ABC did very little marketing on it so it has good potential for long term growth.

  37. donna says:

Boy who upset you!!! Have you watched Suvior, swapping wives, pushing up Dasies or the orher “crap” on TV. I am well educated and I like Women’s Murder Club!!! It is cute, well written and yes I could do without the “man crazy female”, but the others have a lot of character. I’ve known many people very similar to Boter and others. It’s one of the few things I will watch on TV. SO LEAVE IT ALONE! I hope your night gets better because you sure have it in for someone, but, I truely don’t thing this show deserves it. DH

  38. Melissa says:

I am 34 and love WMC. My husband even watches it with me. It’s a refreshing change from the same old Friday night drab. I really hope they do not cancel this and can’t wait to see the next episode.

  39. Sandra says:

I would like to say that I’m 18 years old and I watch this show every friday. If ABC cancels this show I would be so disappoint because it is a really good show…it reflects women in a positive light in four different professional fields.

  40. Rod says:

I would hate to see the show go. Besides, if its cancelled, we will never find out who the KISS-ME-NOT-KILLER is.

  41. Jon V says:

Desperate Housewives meets Law and Order… how can that miss. I think you’ve got to give Angie Harmon another shot (and tell her to please eat something during the Hiatus. If the camera puts on 10 pounds she must weigh 87 lbs soaking wet - ummmm… soaking wet).

  42. Kate G says:

I would like to say that I’m 21 years old and I love this show. I really hope it doesn’t get cancelled.

  43. Lilian C says:

Please continue the show. I wonder if it’s because of the writer strike. I used to like CSI, but now I love WMC, don’t even feel like watching CSI anymore. I first watched the show with Chinese subtitle, the Chinese title is “Pretty Women Homicide Team” It caught my eye and I’ve being faithfully waiting for it every week. And I’m born after 1975.

  44. Kellie Middleton says:

WMC is one of the best shows in a long time. I
stay home on Fridays just to watch it. I like the CSI’s and the LNO’s but has a different twist and people with personalities and lives. The networks are always doing this put on a show that good people like and then taking it off shortly after. I have just about had it with ABC, NBC and CBS.

  45. S.B. says:

Are you sure the elderly watching are even alive? When they put a new episode after Grey’s Anatomy the ratings were abysmal. This makes me wonder if the show was programmed in the TV system elderlies that have arthritis and can’t operate a remote at the beginning of the season, and family hasn’t visited them since to change the setup. If I were Nielsen I would send their listing of the over 65 watching WMC to social services, or the police.

Maybe I’m being over dramatic, the show is so boring they fall asleep in the first 5 minutes. Considering that with age, falling a sleep without medication gets harder, that would explain the show’s popularity with the elderly. Since not even they are watching the commercials, it should be canceled.

  46. Dotti says:

I too love WMC as does my husband. We are in the over the hill age group but advertisers are what drives the renewal of these shows based on age of viewership. They seem to be hung up on the fact the the younger audiences are more likely to buy their products but it’s us older folks that generally have more money to spend on their “stuff”. It shouldn’t matter what the age group of your viewers are if you’ve created a great hit show that appeals to all age groups. And it sounds like there’s a lot of you younger folk out there who love the show as much as we do. Keep this show on the air!!

  47. Patti says:

To S.B…..with most shows being reruns, it is very easy to miss a new episode since most shows have already used up their new episodes. I know I blew it last Wednesday because in my TV Guide, it showed that Criminal Minds & CSI: NY were both reruns. So I missed them (I did watch them on cbs.com the next day, though). I hope that when you get older, no one has that attitude with you, that you are now showing against older people. After all, older people have more spendable money than younger people do. And you were just plain nasty!

To Dotti….I agree with you on everything you posted on 1-27-08. The TV PTB should be grateful that anyone, regardless of their age, is watching their shows. They assume they know what we like, but whenever there’s a survey, if you tell the truth about your age, they say: “I’m sorry. We already have enough people your age group for this survey.” Which is basically their way of saying “we don’t care what you watch or think”, without having an age discrimination lawsuit filed against them. I don’t know of anyone socially or at work who actually tells phone or internet surveys their true age (if they aren’t in the “correct” demographics), because they are passionate about what shows they do like to watch and they want their opinions counted, just like anyone else’s. KEEP WMC, but maybe change it to a different (NOT Wednesday!) night.

  48. Rena Moretti says:

    To Bill:

The blatant, aggressive ageism of S.B.’s response is the most upsetting and disgusting thing I have ever read on your site.

I think you should do something about not giving prejudice a free rein on your site.

  49. Rena Moretti says:

As for showing a show in a different timeslot without proper promotion, I don’t think it shows anything except the incompetence of the people who tried WMC after Gray’s Anatomy.

If I didn’t have a DVR, I’d have missed the episode and I’m a big fan of the show.

Also, the ratings weren’t awful, they were Blah for that timeslot. The ratings of WMC in its regular timeslot are excellent (it’s winning its timeslot after all)

  50. jane says:

I really like this show and hope that you give it a chance to catch on. If I don’t watch it I record it and watch it all the time

  51. Marilyn says:

I love the Women’s Murder Club. I keep looking for it on Friday nights along with Men in Trees (which I watched in spite of the title). I also would like to see someone put some decent shows on Saturday night. Not everyone can go out every week.

  52. Marilyn says:

It’s TV. Intelligent people can tell that its not based on truth. Its for entertainment value. Every show does not have to teach you something.

  53. Jon V says:

Marilyn… I agree with you - and I am not the normal demographic for this show. Angie Harmon has ‘the knack’ (whatever that is) for keeping one’s interest and the writing is good enough to hold my interest. It is not over the top (see all CSI’s) or over-reaching (see recent Law & Orders). Hope it gets renewed and hope they keep it real.

  54. Barb says:

I certainly hope it’s not canceled. I’ve read all of the books and really looked forward to this show.

  55. Irene Weinberg says:

I was very upset that you canceled thw Woman’s Murder Club T V Show. You show a blatant disrespect for older viewers. If all your shows are geared toward younger viewers than I for one will no longer watch television. There were only a handful of good shows, and this was one of them. I have seen some of the garbage that you portray as a show. I do hope you will reconsider your error and put on some decent shows and not repeats that are listed as new.

  56. Jon V says:

Irene… I am truly sorry. I will reschedule WMC as soon as possible. If I had only known…

  57. Jon V says:

    I’m a baaad, baaaad boy.

  58. Ike says:

Ha ha ha! As if anybody on this site has any control over TV programming.

Unfortunately, the advertisers demand younger audiences. They fervently believe that older audiences rarely change brands or try new things. And when they DO want an older audience, they can get it by advertising cheaply during daytime TV or evening news or on certain cable channels. Older viewers watch a LOT of TV. Younger viewers are harder to capture, and thus, are more valuable.

WMC’s horrible ratings among adults 18-49 — and especially adults 18-34 — doomed the show.

Remember when “Murder She Wrote” was cancelled after its umpteenth season, despite still drawing 15 or 20 million viewers? Same thing here.

  59. Jenn says:

I love WMC. It is one of my favorite of the new shows this season. I agree that a little advertising for the show could drastically improve the ratings. I hope they don’t cut it. I want to find out who the kiss-me-not killer is.

  60. Dan says:

If they cancel this show without giving it a chance then a mistake was made. I like the show but I agree with renee the time slot is poor. As far as law and Order, those three shows are the best and most realistic on TV. Hands down better then the three CSI’s which are really only campy remakes of lets see what the crime scene technicians really don’t do this week. Please try and keep teh political babrs out of any responce. I am full aware of whatever rights I have or do not have. As for WMC. I like the interaction between the main characters, but they shouldn’t make LT Hogan such a wimp. He is the whip cracker in teh precinct and should take the lead more often, and get rid of the FBI guy. Or better yet, make him the Kiss Me Not killer.

  61. Dan says:

oh yes…agree advertising it more would help…sorry should have added that.

  62. Jenny says:

I am 23, and definitly in the 18-49 age bracket and I love watching WMC!!! I don’t understand why ABC wants to cancel it! If they are making room for new series then start cancelling the reality shows — been there, there done that!!! Its getting old.

Start giving new series a break. Let the viewers decide on what WE want to watch, OBVIOUSLY we would like you to RENEW WMC!!!

  63. Tonya says:

This is for Dan,Maybe they should make you the Kiss ME Not Killer.Oh I forgot your not an actor just a wimp. That FBI Agent is doing a good job.

  64. Sue and Scott says:

We love the show. Please don’t cancel. Fri nite is definately not a death spot to us. We order in pizza and stay home just to watch Ghost Whisperer and WMC.

  65. Kim says:

It never fails. They always end up cancelling the good shows. Women’s Murder Club is really a good series. Why don’t you people give it a chance before axing it. It’s right up there with Law and Order.

  66. Jodi says:

I love this show, just as I loved the books. I really think that it shoud NOT be cancelled. I make it a point to be at home to watch it.

  67. Barbara Wyman says:

By Barbara Wyman on March 18,2008
Why are we in an age war? The younger set, I am sure, on Friday nights are on their Ipods (not on any TV show). So, keep this populare show on Friday nights for the “other” age groups who actually watches it. I am waiting for the next series.

  68. Nancy says:

I heard that GERALD MCRANEY is joining the cast.
I WILL watch it now. I LOVE that man!

  69. Diana says:

KEEP WMC, it is refreshing, cute, well acted, well written and all around VERY GOOD SHOW. One of the Very BEST on all of TV. Friday night is just another night, Just because some people have every weekend off, not all people do. Imagine: some people’s weekend might be Monday & Tuesday or Wednesday & Thursday. Go Figure, guess the Friday night thing is out. Age is out too, because I don’t think it’s teenagers who buy the TV sets and pay for the programing to watch TV. If The networks continue to take off all shows, that are enjoyed by, shall we call them the older generation, that generation will have no reason to continue to pay for programing, hence all ratings will drop. AGE GROUPS in our house are 21 to 57, there’s 6 of us, everyone watches WMC.
    KEEP Women’s Murder Club!

  70. Julia Jones says:

Most 18-30 year olds who are not married tend to be out of the house on Friday evenings - thus, it is not a surprise that it is not popular amongst this age group - they are not present to watch it.I enjoy this show, but feel that it should be aired on a better night, and I agree that it needs to have better advertising - I doubt many have even heard of it!

  71. mara162 says:

isn’t it funny how most people who complain about this show are males? is it just because it has a strong female cast? I’m 23 and i LOVE this show. My friend who’s also 23 loves this show. I really hope they give this show the chance it deserves. Maybe they should try this thing that some companies do called promotion!

  72. nicole eVr 1 says:

maaan! im 13 years old!!! i live in the philippines and they show WMC here,(oh,and dont worry..my mind is like a 30 yr.old’s)and i totally love the show cause angie harmon makes it so interesting to watch! g0d! please please DO NOT cancel the SHOW!!!!!!!!!!! i’ll need a straight jacket if you do!please! dont cancel!!!!!! cause i really really love this show!!!???

  73. Bob,Judy,Lisa,Gary,Kara&Kristy says:

Our Family ranges from 12 to 66, which is a factor that should be cosidered by the polsters. We even recorded each episode for each other.

This is one of our very favorite shows because it is among the few which are entertaining, unique & intelligently written.

I’d like to inform the ABC Advertisers that two of us, are among the 76 million Boomers who watch the intelligent shows.

    Ever hear of,”Murder She Wrote”?

  74. Nancy says:

I watched WMC for the first time last night because GERALD MCRANEY was guest-star and I really enjoyed it.
I hope it gets picked up and that GERALD MCRANEY remains in the cast as Lindsay’s dad.

  75. Mitch says:

Dump WMC and Keep BOSTON LEGAL!!!!!!
ABC get a clue you have a hit with BL and should keep it

  76. Jeny says:

i am here in the Philippines, please do not cancel this showwwwww!!! i love the story, i love angie harmon, i love women’s murder club!!!i want more seasons to come.

  77. Brian says:

If this is not picked up, then ABC is now the stupidest network on the air. Get rid of other shows (Pushing Daisies, Private Practice) and keep this quality show.

  78. Sam says:

I have watched it twice. I am not getting into it. Maybe because it’s a crime drama with mostly woman. It feels unnatural. Not bagging on it. Just thinking it is harder for men to get hooked on it.

  79. luebbe4 says:

PLEASE, PLEASE , PLEASE renew this show!!!! It was not given a fair chance with the writers strike and then finally coming back for only a few more show before the season finale. This is my favorite show on tv and I really want to continue watching it. I have never written in before to save a show but I truly believe in this show, it just needs a fair chance!

  80. Kris says:

I am pissed this show is off the air. it was witty and intellegent…oh maybe that is why it is cancelled

  81. Marge says:

This is terrible. Is ABC nuts? Stop sitting on your Brains, ABC!

  82. wake up ABC says:

typical ABC having strong women on TV and then cancelling the show.

  83. Scott ATL says:

This is just sad. A great show bites the dust yet again. At least we had a great finale.

  84. wmcmom says:

I loved this show! So disappointed it was canceled. I was impressed by the quality writing and great cast. This show really has great potential!! It got very good ratings when on Friday night. The knock was it did poorly with 18-35 age group. Can I ask how many people that age are watching tv on a Friday night?? Then the writers strike caos…next its moved to Tuesday night with no advertising and put up against a like show(Law& Order) ABC please reconsider your decision!!

  85. Jo says:

    Please renew!!! Love the show.

  86. Lytishya Borglum says:

Please renew this show. I am 28 and I adore the show. Most of the people I know love the show and most are between 18 & 49! Come on, gioe it a shot.

  87. John says:

Needs to be renewed!!! It gives any L&O a run for their money bring it back!!!

  88. Skip says:

ABC is crazy - this show was breathing life into Friday nights before the strike!! NBC cancelled Homicide: huge mistake - now ABC is quitting on WMC??? another blundo profundo.

  89. Ang says:

This is so sad to hear. All you can do is sit and shake your head at the execs. With all of the crap on TV they finally put a good show on and what do they do. Absolutely unbelievable. This was a wonderful show and it will be so sad next season not being able to watch it. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME, but I am sure they will replace it with some stupid show that noone even wants to watch.

  90. Michelle B. says:

I love this show and hate to see it cancelled. There are other viewers who are over 20 something.

  91. jerri fife says:

What are you thinking? Canceling a very entertaining show with great characters.
Please give us some wholesome TV watching - please. jerri

  92. meshellb says:

I am a HUGE fan of WMC I have read all the books and I loved seeing the characters brought to life on the screen!!!!! IF more of my books could have this happen I would watch moe TV!!!!!!!!!! GET rid of some of the reality shows and KEEP WMC!!!!

  93. LaurieW says:

RENEW THE SHOW! The numbers are better than several other shows that have been kept on…and the strike (as well as their timeslot) hindered the ability to develop more of a viewership. Give this show a chance.

  94. Carol says:

A show that is smart entertaining and intriging and they cancel it?? What is wrong with the Powers That Be at ABC. Womens Murder Club and October Road were both cancelled by theses idiots.

  95. Carol says:

ABC obviously would rather invest time and money on boring reality shows than a intriging show that appeals to all age groups like Womens Murder Club.

  96. Ali says:

I was born in 1978 and I watch religiously!

  97. Fan says:

Women's murder needs to be renew

  98. Lady Dy says:

Women's Murder Club was a very good show! It wasn't every given a chance. It debuted shortly before the writer's strike, and was difficult to locate after the strike. Whey keep so many stupid shows, and cancel the good ones?

  99. Sandra says:

I enjoyed this show so much that I am sad to watch it leave I even wrote to NBC because I watch it more often to put the show over there because the show shouldn't be cancelled and I had friends who watched and loved the show. I wrote to NBC since Angie used to be in Law & Order and I think the network is better than ABC please help me do the same by e-mailing NBC maybe we can get another networks attention.

  100. C. Morgan says:

I am a 13 year old male and i watch Women's Murder Club. I think it is good to see that women are working in the field and not cooped up in offices like other films of the sort. In tv land crime solving is a male doinated “sport.” Let the women take over for a change and cbc… you should feel ashamed of yourselves i know alot of people where i live that plan to boycot abc because of recent happenings. Why did you shoot Horatio for the season finale? You could have at least let us know who shot him and give us more about the text “its done” ABC If you dont fix some of these problems i am going to have to say ….. YOU SUCK!!!!!

  101. Annette says:

Bring back Woman's Murder Club, ABC!!!!!

  102. RUKiddingME says:

I can't believe this show has been cancelled. I've been looking foward to it coming back on for another season only to find this out. It really wasn't given a chance to shine like I know it can. It keeps you intrigued and on your toes for what's going to happen next. Very dissappointed and I have to agree with some who say “what are you thinking?” keeping the horrible shows on air and booting the great ones off. going for a younger crowd. I'm in between. I'm 30.

  103. Blondie says:

Please bring back Women’s Murder Club. I have been searching all of the nights to find out when it was going to return. I was mortified to find out it was axed. BRING IT BACK…I’m 34…to heck with the demographics….who did they have counting them?
