Quarterly Net New TiVo Subscribers 2001- April 2008

TiVo Loses 145k Subscribers vs. 121k in Previous Quarter

As of April 30, 2008 TiVo had 1.728 million subscribers (down 17,000) using its own DVRs and 2.073 million subscribers with DirecTV TiVo DVRs (down 128,000).

    so in the past year there are less tivo users? are these people presumingly switching to a more affordable dvr service, seeing as 1 in 4 household have some kind of recording device now?

  3. The cheaper cable services are making up most of the DVRs, but TiVo's net subscriber losses are almost completely due to ending its agreement with DirecTV.

    To expand on Robert's point, net subscribers using TiVo hardware have been effectively flat for more than 2 years.

    There were about as many TiVo DVR hardware using subscribers in Jan 2006 as there were in April 2008.
