In an unusual night, Fox took the viewer win [7.36 million] with repeats of Bones and House, but didn’t win the adults 18-49 demo. That’s a reasonably unusual result in that Fox’s demo typically outperforms its average viewership. Instead, CBS and ABC tied with a 2.2 rating /7 share for adults 18-49. ABC fielding two new Bachelorettes and The Mole, and CBS with its summer Monday line up of comedy and CSI:Miami reruns.
We only have half hourly data from last night as opposed to our typical show by show data, so it’s hard to pick out the show winners and losers (unfortunately averaging things together often doesn’t jibe with the official results), but it’s clear that The Bachelorette would have carried the night for ABC if it were not put in such a hole by The Mole.
Details:Here was last night’s schedule:
| Time | Net | Show |
| 8:00 | ABC | The Bachelorette |
| FOX | Bones (repeat) | |
| CBS | The Big Bang Theory (repeat) | |
| NBC | American Gladiators | |

The Mole would bomb in any time slot. Anybody who thinks otherwise is smoking pot.
(A little wordy, but hey, it still rhymes.)

The problem with The Mole isn't the concept… it's the editing. Whoever directs and edits the show has no concept of excitement. With The Amazing Race or Survivor, we head into every commercial break with some kind of cliffhanger. Something where we the audience aren't sure how it's going to play out. On The Mole, they'll go to commercial on absolutely nothing. There's no tension.
