The debut of Greatest American Dog helped CBS take the viewership win for Thursday night with 8.22 million. For summer demo-starved CBS, that adults 18-49 2.1 rating / 8 share from Dog is a bonanza. My guess is that it also boosted the CSI rerun’s usually dismal demo performance. I’m sure all fingers are crossed at CBS to see how Dog holds up next week.
Dogs aside, Fox won the night in the adults 18-49 demo, where the money gets made, with a 2.5/8 on the strength of So You Think You Can Dance and Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?.
NBC is likely pleased with the 2.1/6 in the demo garnered by Last Comic Standing from 9-11. For them, that’s a solid summer performance.
At 10pm, Berman tosses Hopkins “accolades“, but a 1.6/5 in the demo isn’t going to have it back for a second run. No accolades for Swingtown, but at a 1.8/5 in the demo and declining, it’s likely sitting next to Hopkins on the bus to Cancelville.

How could you have not used “Greatest American Dog Neuters the Competitiion” for the title?
Even though Swingtown moved up from last week, its likely still doomed as it lost nearly half of its lead in – a rerun of CSI. Greatest American Dog? Ya gotta be kidding. Its proof that the IQ of the general viewing audience is in tailspin.
So many headline choices, yet only one spot to put it in!
Had it failed, I was all ready with “Dog Bites In Ratings”
Broadcasting & Cable went with “Dogs, Dancing and Doctors”. Being a big fan of alliteration, I tip my hat to them.
HAHAHA, the cbs new dog show was so stupid, i laughed so hard. Wow its amazing what people think is good tv.
I found the dog show to be terribly stupid. And not very focused on the dogs at all. The people were not that interesting either. I imagine that the numbers will drop off.

Burn Notice did as well as any of the broadcast network shows at 10. Impressive for Burn Notice; embarrassing for the networks.
