Posted on 12 July 2008 by Bill Gorman

Scoreboard CBS NBC ABC CW FOX
Total Viewers (million) 6.78 5.72 4.01 3.90 ?
Rating/Share: Adults 18-49 1.5/6 1.4/5 1.0/4 1.3/5 1.1/4

The debut of CBS’s Canadian import Flashpoint lifted it to victory in both viewers [6.78 million] and the adults 18-49 demo [1.5 rating / 6 share] for Friday night. Flashpoint itself looks to have done over 8 million viewers and a 1.9/6 in the demo from 10-11. Not too shabby for 10-11 on a CBS summer Friday night, eh?

  1. Marc says:

Friday night was the Stargate Atlantis premiere. I thought it was one of the best premieres since the pilot. A lot of action, good drama, and a surprise cameo which I was shocked. The prodcuers seems to keep topping themselves. Hopefully you were able to catch the show if you are a fan. It would seem there was not too much competition so hopefully SGA pulled in some strong numbers.

  2. George says:

Flashpoint is on point, and I know its going to be the best show this summer. The direction, acting, action, and editing, all top notch, along with amazing details about what goes on in these situations. By far the best new show this year.

  3. wholetruthy says:

Flashpoint stunk…flash in the summer pan

  4. Robert says:

So what are those Moonlight fans saying now. CBS does better during summer with an imported show and at 10pm

  5. Sandy says:

Funny how none of them have commented yet, Robert.

  6. Bill Gorman says:

Robert, Sandy and other Moonlight doubters, this is obviously an evil conspiracy put forward by North of the Border interests and their criminal Nielsen lackeys to discredit Moonlight. As the boys from South Park put it….

    ….Blame Canada!

  7. Septbday says:

    I miss Moonlight………………………………..

  8. Event Horizon says:

If Flashpoint holds around 8 million and doesnt crash and burn like Swingtown did, it will stick around for another Season. Of course, sometimes shows start out great then tank. Only time will tell on this one. FP is nothing all that new. Its ok, but I wont be staying home to watch it.

  9. Emily says:

Flashpoint is on CBS, the station that gets the viewers interested and then cancels the show. Go ahead viewers, start watching, really get to like it. Then bam… out goes your show. Remember Jericho. Remember Moonlight.

  10. Holly says:

“Flashpoint is on CBS, the station that gets the viewers interested and then cancels the show. “

Actually, from 1999 to 2007, CBS was the LEAST likely of the broadcast nets to cancel a show without a second season. 41% made it to a second season compared to 33% on NBC and 28% on both ABC and FOX (per The Futon Critic).

  11. morrison814 says:

Moonlight had 8.54 million when it first came out and at the end it was holding 7.5 million toward the end. It won its demo and hour every night. It won the Peoples Choice Award and CBS still took it off the air. So if Flashpoint is doing about the same… chances are that it is going to be pulled also.

  12. LSW says:

    Bill,

It's like really getting into a novel and then discovering the last half of the book is missing.

  13. Sherry says:

As far as Flashpoint, I watched the first 30 minutes and turned the channel. Bring back Moonlight! I've had enough of CBS's CSI's, game shows and crappy new shows, i.e. Flashpoint, Swingtown and Price is Right. Please CBS, BRING BACK “MOONLIGHT”.
