I’m really bummed this show is being cancelled, I relly enjoyed it had a good story line, the sets were really authentic 70’s. I hope a cable co picks it up.

They get us hooked on a great show like this and then yank it out from under us, threatening to cancel it, only to move it to a cable channel where one must shell out more money to be able to watch it. I’ll bet they had this planned ALL along!! They had every intention of keeping it on the air, they just needed to get a huge audience in order to force some of us into throwing in the towel and subscribing to something we don’t even want, except for one show. I bet most of us do not even have Showtime. What a clever way to extort money!

I am not surprised they canceled this show, they cancel EVERY show that hits the younger generation that usually watches TV online. Anyone who says it “advocates” the lifestyle has obviously never WATCHED the show. If anything it would steer people away from it because it’s so honest about how much work it takes to swing the “right way”.

Anyway, I just found season1 on netflix and watched the entire thing back to back, it’s a great (and honest) show. I think it really touches on the realities of all relationships and the amount of BS denial most couples live with. How much people pretend to be happy and hide reality. Watching each of the couples realize this in their own ways was really cool, and I love the way all 3 of the main couples go through the same problems in different ways.

I am so sad the show was canceled after only 1 season. When are the networks going to figure out that the ratings system is SO BROKEN!!!!! STOP canceling good shows just because the ratings system stopped functioning a couple years ago, and intelligent people watch TV differently!!!!!

I LOVED this show. I loved the outfits, the music and the fact that they incorporated the political climate of the 70s. It was not just about a bunch of swingers. It was actually a complex show with a great cast of actors. I didn’t miss an episode and that says a lot considering the show only aired during the busy Summer season.

I loved Swingtown and I would love to see it come back for another chance. Why can’t people understand that it is only a tv show and if they object to the content all they have to do is change the channel. It is not now or ever was my life style, and the show didn’t make me want to try “swinging”, it is only a tv show. I also watched the 3 Stooges [also only a tv show] and I never thought about making shoe soup or hitting anybody with a hammer. This is only entertainment if you don’t like something all you have to do is change the channel. A tv show has never given anybody an std.

I think that we have to remember that this was a television show reflecting real life. Even though the 70’s flaunted drugs and sex, the whole country wasn’t corrupt. I grew up in the 70’s and went through all the disco, bell-bottom jeans crazes and had a blast. I wouldn’t have traded my life for anything and quite honestly remember our country having much stronger moral values then than we do now. The problems still existed, but at least they weren’t plastered all over the news.

By the way, some of the most controversial television shows of the 70’s on were: Dallas (JR cheating on his wife, illegitimite children, and wives with guns ready to kill their husbands); Knots Landing, etc., etc. Please keep in mind, these were night-time soap operas, no different from soaps that had been around as early as the 1930’s on RADIO. They might not have been as racy, but they were still just as controversial.

What happened to TV as being something we escaped our daily lives. I love Swingtown!!! Doesn’t mean that I’m going to go “swing” it’s just a fantasy life. Something new and a different aspect on life and for everybody bashing the show… You can’t protect everyone. We know what’s out there and it’s only your own responsibility to protect yourself…So STOP PREACHING!!!!

I like the idea of moving it to Showtime where they would have more freedom creatively in how they deal with the subject matter. Sounds like a cool idea to me.

I really looked foward to that show, it was something to watch during the summer time and i think that the CBS network should be ashamed of them sleves, you cant just leave something half done, its bad form!!!!!!!!!

I think that it is a shame when we have our men and women out there in Iraq and Afghanastan fighting to give us the freedom of speech and freedom to watch what we want on TV. Personally I loved this show and watched it all of the time. I am sad to see that it has gone off of regular TV because I cant afford cable or satellite. If you have a problem with the show, you know God did give you a brain to pick up an apparatus called a remote control and change the station. I feel that when it comes to filtering what we watch on TV that we might as well be under dictatorship or communism. I guess I was wrongly told that America is the land of the free. Swingtown I will miss your show. Shame you cant put it on Fox. I mean you have the Simpsons and the Family Guy, What is so wrong with Swingtown if you watch them shows? They are equally degrading if not more than Swingtown. Just goes to show we still have Hitlers, Stalins and Gorbachev’s in our own country. Now I have to find someone with cable or satellite to record it for me so I can watch it. Thanks CBS and you all who boo’ed it off the air.

OH MY GOD!!!!! COME ON PEOPLE THIS SHOW IS GREAT FOR ALL OF US GROWING UP IN THAT ERA GET REAL. MAYBE CBS SHOULD PUT IT ON LATER YA THINK. THE CAST WAS SO REAL TO THIERE PARTS THAT I CAN RELATE TO SOME OF THEM. I THINK IT IS ABOUT TIME TO STOP PUTTING STUFF ON TV THAT WE DONT WANT TO SEE AND GET REAL WITH WHAT WE DO WANT TO SEE. ENOUGH WITH REALITY SHOWS ALREADY IM BORED. BRING THE SHOW BACK OK. YES THE 70′S WAS A BAD TIME FOR STDS AND WHATEVER BUT WE WERE SMART AND DID THE RIGHT THING. GROW UP AMERICA THIS SHOW IS FOR US GRUPS OK.

I am very sad to know that Swingtown will not be returning. I think that it brought us to a way of life that many have wondered about. I hope that one of the networks decide to continue it. I am surprised that it was cancelled due to ratings, most that I know watched it.

I too loved the show – it was funny, intriguing, and captured alot of what couples who are married still inherently go thru (whether they act on it or not is all together different)
YES, little “angel” the first commentator should take her head out of the sand, loosen up a bit and attempt this great thing called life. Her inhibitions are smothering her.
Seems CBS has a hard time keeping fans happy with shows we love. I loved Cain, and they cancelled that one too. Come on

First Journeyman, now Swingtown. We get involved in a show that shows a depth and quality not evident in so many of today’s primetime dramas, and they yank it right out from underneath us. And for what? Another reality TV series?

We anxiousley awaited the shows arrival, and then it came and went. We truly miss this show and continue to hope it comes back. Being swingers for 10 years now, we keep our lifestyle choice very quiet. No one in our family knows about us. We are discreet, and really it’s our choice to swing. That’s the beauty of it. The show is really about responsible swingers. Those guys do not just “do” everything and everybody. Much like ourselves. We have only played with a handful of people that we trusted and not everyone we met. There had to be a relationship involved. But here’s the secret. Use condoms. Your a fool if you don’t. Responsible swingers can have fun! We do!

I didn’t like the show in the beginning… but I did grow to love it. The hubby and I are great fans of it. We are VERY disappointed that CBS won’t renew it. Give it one more chance. It will have the same “cult” following as Northern Exposure or the new United States of Tara. Swingtown is funny, relativly realistic and just plain fun to watch aqnd the music is just great. Even though Hubby & I are in the Lifestyle, and yes, people in the lifestyle require safe sex, if we weren’t the show would still be great. If you don’t like it, TURN IT OFF. I think that many that don’t like it simply wish they were able to do what the characters on the show are able to do. Stop being jealous and bring back our show!!!

seriously, this was an awesome show, it showed how people lived back in the day. and sure this kind of behavior still goes on today. Its not like it was on to early that young kids would be watching it or anything. I just think people need to live in the 21st century and open their eyes because this kind of stuff goes on every day and is going to keep going on every day whether they like it or not. so stop being prudes and give us another exciting season!

I love the show. I was a little kid when this was happening, but I remember the clothes. I remember the free spirits. We used to roller skate a lot and it was a much simpler time then. I just don’t get why people are saying their so offended by this show. I’ve read this is when the Herpes epidemic started and the spread of (back then, VD) better known as STD’s now. Well, today, we are plagued by HIV and Hep C and gay marriages. Why isn’t anyone offended by these things? These weren’t heard of back then. Now adays when someone has something iffy below the belt, they now pray “oh god please let it be Herpes”! What’s wrong with people? They scream about gay rights but yet they’re offended by a show like this? Come on, get real. This stuff really happened because people were experimenting and discovering themselves. Why is that offensive? It’s no more offensive than Obama trying to pass himself off as more of a black man than he is a white man. (He’s equally both). Is that history? It’s slowly easing us into history. This show is nostalgic. Let it go. I love it!
