Tom Shales on TV Politics

Posted on 29 August 2008 by Robert Seidman

Maybe this is the age of YouTube politics, and maybe not. The biggest moments still happen on national television. Tom Shales from his article, A Big Moment for the Small Screen.

I loved that sound bite. Despite my own aversion to politics (which I largely attribute to spending the first 30+ years of my life inside the Capital Beltway), and despite whatever may actually happen in November, there’s no denying that Barack Obama getting his party’s nomination is a big event.   Big events still play better on television than anywhere else, whether it’s Michael Phelps going for a record eighth gold medal in one Olympic Games or the first African American to be on the presidential ballot.
