| Total Viewers (million) | 8.69 | 6.37 | 5.85 | 4.91 | 4.24 |
| Rating/Share: Adults 18-49 | 2.3/6 | 2.4/6 | 1.6/4 | 2.7/7 | 1.5/4 |

The series debut (return?) of 90210 to the CW brought 4.91 million viewers back to the storied zip code and a demo adults 18-49 2.7 rating and 9 share was the top demo result of the night and earned the CW the nightly 18-49 demo win. And 90210 was #1 in the adults 18-34 demo as well earning a 3.1 rating / 9 share and humbling the competition in that demo for the night. It’s silly to compare those numbers with the previous 90210, but the embattled CW has to be very happy with the results, it rarely sees 4.91 million viewers tuning in to anything. If last night’s ratings were “mindblowing” I await the adjectives from the CW PR department today.
Moving away from the “mindblowing”, NBC’s America’s Got Talent was the top show for viewers with ~10.5 million and for demo adults 18-49 with between a 2.7-3.0 rating (sorry, we didn’t get consolidated results for AGT) and helped NBC win the viewership title for the night with 8.69 million. It helped that NBC’s Republican convention coverage from 10-11p was top for the broadcasters with 4.93 million viewers and lowered its average less than ABC and CBS. Those results were down from the Tuesday results for the Democrats. The cable news channel results will be interesting.
CBS’s Big Brother still has life left in it, grabbing 6.50 million and an 18-49 2.4/6 both up a tick from last week. ABC’s Wanna Bet finale (almost certainly series finale) limped to the boneyard with but 3.87 million viewers. It will not be missed.

The the numbers would seem to indicate that Wipeout is a repeat, and Berman did designate it so, but the Fast nationals didn’t seem to list it as a repeat. Good numbers if it was, bad news if it wasn’t! I don’t know because I was skimming 90210 and watching Magnum Force on AMC in HD (”a man has to know his limitations…”)
I look forward to the CW release as well, but in fairness, it won the 18-49 demo outright (thanks to the convention) and crushed in the 18-34 (and would’ve even without the convention coverage at 10p) so that’s definitely a real win for CW.

Wow. The CW won the key demos. Not a surprise since nothing else was on TV. Well, there was The Shield season premiere on FX. Will we ever see numbers for The Shield? Bill? Robert?
September 3rd, 2008 at 9:57 am
Both Berman and TV Guide had Wipeout as a repeat. If anyone watched it and can tell us otherwise, let us know.
Jack, we may see Shield results in a press release/story today. We will certainly get them with the weekly cable results next Tuesday, since I’m sure it will be in the top 40 list we get.

Was interested in the numbers for 90210 - especially since it was preempted in chicago area by Cubs baseball - it premiered at 10:30 last night on local WGN - all the hype had me curious but not enough to wait until 10:30 to watch it.
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:29 am
Wow, good for CW. I just wonder if 90210 will be able to retain those numbers wee to week.
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:06 am
Wipeout was a repeat of the “Crow-Bar” episode - one of my favorites.
I’ll miss Wanna Bet. Hopefully this won’t be the beginning and end of Ant & Dec’s American career.

The Cubs game went into extra innings, so here in Chicagoland, 90210 started at about midnight.
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:13 am
Yes, WIPEOUT was a repeat last night.
As usual, ABC is screwing with thier viewers, so now we have no idea when the next new epsidoe will be. There have only been 6 originals and a clips show so far.

90210 is basically just the same teenage-drama crap that you can find on The N.
This new spin-off is definitely a far departure from the original series of the 1990’s.
People were curious and checked out the premiere, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t show up for next week’s episode.
Goodbye, and good riddance The CW.
September 3rd, 2008 at 2:27 pm
I’m confused- is it Monday sept 2nd or Tuesday Sept 2nd ?
September 3rd, 2008 at 2:29 pm
CW has “FRINGE” to deal with next week - so….well…you know
September 3rd, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Wow, my bad entirely Rick, I’m surprised that typo existed for so long
September 3rd, 2008 at 2:29 pm
LoL…Well…at least your quick
September 3rd, 2008 at 3:36 pm
I predict their numbers will drop to 4.3mil next week, then hover at 4.0 for awhile, then wind up between 3.5 and 3.8 for the rest of the series. It’s one thing to lead a dumb horse to water, it’s another to make it stay there.

why do people hate the cw so much, they have a few good shows, supernatural and reaper come to mind right off the top of my head
September 3rd, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Nick: I think it’s what they do with shows like Supernatural that facilitate dislike of the network.
In any case, big win for the CW with 90210. They should have just done this last year instead of GG.
Hopefully these new viewers check out some other shows on the network, especially on Sep 18.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:02 am
I’d be able to live happily if it was 90210 being whored constantly instead of that abortion Gossip Girl. They seem to at least be trying to act well instead of playing themselves as characters.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:08 am
I dunno Roy. Here in San Francisco they had biplanes flying over advertising the premiere of 90210 — I’m sure that happened in several other cities at least. On a guess CW spent more promoting 90210’s premiere than GG’s season premiere, but it’s just a guess.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Final ratings for 90210 went down to 4.65 and the 18-49 demo dropped to 2.6/7 . . . they definitely were not near 5 million!
September 11th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
I think i some what agree with roy.

I loved 90210 in the 90’s. I still watch the Rerun’s. How ever I think the new 90210 stinks. Shannon aged alot also. You can see it totally in her face.
