Republican’s Wednesday Ratings Crush 2004, Beats Democrat’s Wednesday Ratings

For the top 3 Cable News networks, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, the ratings for the third night of the 2008 Republican Convention were substantially higher than the third night in 2004, with prime-time viewership up as much as 277% and adults 25-54 viewership up as much as 445%.

Fox News won the 10-11pm battle over broadcasters and cablers alike with 9.043 million viewers, and among adults 25-54 over the cablers (we don’t have comparable broadcast data) with 3.538 million demo adults.

Fox News saw a 235% increase on Wednesday over its 10-11pm numbers for the same night of the Democratic National Convention, CNN saw a 14% increase and MSNBC saw a 44% increase.

Here’s some viewership data for the 75 minute period you may not already have seen:

10-11:15pm – total viewers:

FOX NEWS – 9.2 million

NBC – 7.7 million

CNN – 6.2 million

ABC – 5.9 million

CBS – 4.6 million

MSNBC – 3.4 million

For some reason, I’m not able to get the image with the numbers display properly in the post, but you can view it full-sized here.
