Rick, you're correct about Fringe being scheduled to be "remote free" for the entire season, and about the plans for Dollhouse as well.

Personally, I think "FRINGS" would be an excellent name for a TV series. It combines two of the joys of life (fries and onion rings) into one word! ;-)

My understanding is this is supposed to continue all season (limited comercials)and then again with Dollhouse - if the ratings stay up - this will be nice right now Sarah Connor & 24 have way too many commercials.
FRINGS shold destroy everything tomorrow night - it doesn't look like anything good is on Tuesday nites...90210 may need a new night and zip code!

Length of commerical breaks, for me would have to be under a minute in length to convince me not to change the channel, get a snack etc. If they break 6 times in an hour episode that creates commercials 1:30 in length about 30 seconds to long to keep me from my fridge.

Hey speaking of Terminator and 8 million viewers... Season Two starts tomorrow!

Any chance of a pre-season two post, Robert, for all us Terminator fans? I'd be curious to know what kind of ratings Season Two needs to start off with and hold in order for FOX to step up and buy the back 9 episodes. Especially in light of Terminator's huge time-shifted viewing numbers.

I think the DVR numbers are going to go up, maybe even at the expense of some of the live viewership. In fact of all the people I know who are coming into the show as new fans, all of them will be time-shifted viewers. It's the only way they'll be able to watch. Hopefully FOX has started to accept that as a reality of this show.

Just mentioning it here, because it might be interesting: Episode 5 of season 2 of Terminator is sponsored by Dodge and will run 52 minutes. This means just 8 minutes of commercials. Will be interesting to see whether this will have an impact on viewership.

Its about time they wise up to this. We have been steadily loosing content to commercials since the television went mainstream. But I hope they realize that if they want to keep more of their 'remote free' viewers, that is going to have to become more standard. Oh, please please please let this snowball to other networks and shows!

Yes, I know it was announced months ago. But I've also watched enough "deleted scenes' from DVDs to know there is a reason why most of that crap gets deleted!

Regarding "coming up with 7-9 minutes of extra content per episode", this was all announced MONTHS ago - the episodes have been filmed accordingly. Not to mention usually an episode has a good 10-15 minutes worth of extra footage that is usually cut, if not more, so that wouldn't have been an issue anyhow.
