Convention Shows Increase Daily Show Ratings

THR.com is reporting that the special convention shows for The Daily Show With Jon Stewart posted big increases:

For the past two weeks’ worth of Tuesday-Friday telecasts, “The Daily Show” averaged 1.7 million viewers, Nielsen Media Research said Thursday.

That’s up 37% compared with the “Indecision 2004″ convention coverage from Boston and New York in 2004. And its 1.1 million viewers 18-49 was up 42% compared with four years ago. Its audience of 186,000 men 18-24 was up 46% compared to 2004.

For the DNC coverage, “The Daily Show” was up 23% to 1.5 million viewers. It had double-digit increases in all the major demos. For the RNC, “The Daily Show” averaged 1.8 million viewers, up 32% from four years ago.
