I have to agree with Cesarrr. I always thought it would be a good idea for the Spanish speaking channels to have Close Captioning in English as a minium. Without doing that, the Spanish speaking channels are relying on a limited number of viewers and growth that is dependent on mostly immigration (that is if the Mexican and other Latin population in the US integrates into the American culture by the second generation as most immigrants have in the past).

Just adding to the chorus that Fox should put SCC after Bones. And while they’re at it, they should delay the rest of the PB season and pair it with 24 as they did in (both shows’) heyday. Those two were the perfect combo. I swear, sometimes I would be shocked to discover that I hadn’t been breathing fulling for two hours!

I watched Do Not Disturb, and quite frankly it’s just not funny. Which makes me sad because the red-headed guy from last year’s comedy the Class (which I LOVED) is still incredibly funny on it. Oh well.

Two years in a row we get a sit-com starring JERRY O’CONNELL…carpoolers and do not disturb…the other stiff they use over and over in horrible pilots is MRS. COURTNEY COX also known as david arquette…i worked on a awful ill fated pilot with arquette…he is a miserable guy who showed little or no enthusiasm…why the development nitwits keep using a bum like this is beyond me…audiences do not flock to arquette movies or tv shows…same with o’connell..i guarantee o’connell and arquette will star in pilots for next year that havent even been written yet…thats how dumb execs in the biz are..they are so out of touch with the american public no different then the a-holes in the oval office or in congress or the senate…

ps- portly, bloated marc berman is a tv insider…like i’m george clooney. BERMAN’S WIFE PUT HIM ON HER LAST NIGHT’S LOSER LIST.

There’s no rule I know of preventing non-English programming on broadcast TV, subtitles or not. The English networks don’t do it because it would be ratings suicide. For Univision, obviously, the situation is different.

can somebody please explain me why does the FCC allow UNIVISION to air foreign shows (in their original language, without subtitles) on PRIMETIME?
I don’t think they’ll let CBS, or NBC air french, german, or british shows on primetime. I am from Argentina and I think that univision is an “illegal” network. It is part of this cultural influence from mexico, and latin america. UNIVISION and TELEMUNDO allow the immigrants form latin america (legal or illegal) to ignore the “anglo” culture. The NEWS SHOWS on those network focuses on latin america (especially on mexico)and I think that’s wrong.

cesarrr, my guess is that Univision will be, if it isn’t already, an attractive acquisition candidate for ABC (Disney), CBS or Fox.

NBC Universal already owns Telemundo, so I’m guessing they wouldn’t be interested, and may even face anti-trust concerns if they tried to buy Univision.

The biggest winner here is UNIVISION, because it gets descent numbers out of those cheap mexican shows. And the weird thing is that the mexican actors who work on those shows are not even rich (most of them). I bet the actors who are on GOSSIP GIRL, 90210, or even PRIVILEGED, make a lot more money than they do. EVEN THOUGH UNIVISION SHOWS HAVE A BIGGER AUDIENCE IN THE US.

That’s probably because those shows are in spanish (and the hispanic market is not as “rich” yet) But you can see really big companies advertising on UNIVISION.

I agree with the consensus, Terminator after Bones would be perfect. I really don’t think the Terminator audience cares for reality shows. I bet they’d give NBC a run for the 18-49yr demo.

@Roger: Nice to see some love for Privileged here. But Stylista is coming, making Wednesdays “reality day” for the CW, so Privileged will remain stuck with 90210, on a day with greater competition too.

And it was already mentioned, but it bears repeating, Fox should cancel the comedies and put Terminator in their slot. Hmm, but that would put TSCC and Privileged against each other, oops. Oh well, I doubt there’s another weirdo like me out there that watches both.

I will spare you my opinons of Mr. Bianchi but i must definitely note the following: I didn’t see a review from any critic who liked Do Not Disturb. So many “Don’t Watch This Show” reviews…that I didn’t watch.

When Private Practice debuts I assume it will be on Wed versus Deal. I gotta wonder if ABC is sweating this. I hate game shows, and would have figured PP for a sure winner six months ago. Also, Robert ” Never met a dumb Show I didn’t Like” Bianchi pooped all over Do Not Disturb. I wonder how influential Mr. Bianchi and USA Today are? If he hates a show, people must figure its really hideous.

Wow, great news for Bones.High ratings in both households and adults 18-49.I guess it’s time to axe FOX’s Do Not Disturb and Till Death.The ratings are plummeting for both comedies. I wonder would it be a different outcome,if FOX kept Back to You for another season?
Forget about 90210 encores,the numbers sucks bad.Should move Privileged to Wednesdays 9/8c, where ANTM serves as a good lead-in. Privileged deserves so much better than 90210.
