   It’s astonishing that people do not seem to understand why FOX News gets fairly high ratings compared to other news channels. There is only one blatantly bias network and that is FOX News. Thoughtful viewers will tend to tune into all the major networks from time to time but the vast majority of those on the right would rather burry thier heads in the sand and have thier news filtered through the the RNC talking points machine before being presented.

   All the channels have bias hosts but that is called commentary and it may or may not be bias… that is to be expected. The difference is that FOX News holds sweeping bias accross all of its reporting. Just switch back and forth from FOX and the other networks after a big political event, you may be astonished to see the striking difference. CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS all strive to deliver fair and balanced reporting along with commentary. FOX News is the only one that seems to feel the need to call themselves fair and balanced. It’s like saying “Trust Me”. If you have to say it, it’s probably not so. So, FOX gets a virtual manopoly on right wing viewers and the rest end up splitting time accross all the others. It’s not surprising that they get more raw viewers as often as they do.

   Here is all the evidence you need to show that the FOX News audiance is skewed far to the right. They conducted a poll after the Vice-Presidential debate that showed Palin winning 88% to 12%. All the polls conducted from polling institutes and other networks showed a double digit win for Biden and were fairly consistent. As usual, FOX was the only one with results so skewed that they hold no value. FOX isn’t interested in delivery Fair and Balanced reporting, they are only interested in making some effort to make it seem that way.

   If you view it as comedy (like Rush Limbaugh) then you may enjoy it, it can be rather amusing to see obvious truths contorted in such creative ways. If you want more intelligent and objective reporting look elsewhere.

   I don’t agree. At least Fox News and O’Reilly host people and interviews of opposing view.

   MSNBC and Olbermann is an echo chamber. The only people they host are strongly left, saying ‘you’re correct Keith’.

   Huge difference when it comes to objectivity.

   after the debate I watched both fox and msnbc. the great olberman was listing what he called palin’s lies and never said a word about biden’s major lies. some lies can be argued but some of biden’s were just lies. olberman only talks about bush and o’reilly, he has to much hate..

   Wait just a minute here Gene. You are wrong. Biden only introduced information that he thought was to be correct. That Palin gave information she knew nothing about. She ungodly uses lies and deceit just like the rest of the McCain Campaign.

   Keith Olbermann’s report is bias but so what. Fox has been reporting Bias information and lies and deceit for many years now. It’s about time one of the other cable news networks decided to put Fox to the challenge. They are liars and deceivers over there and they get what they deserve. Olbermann’s reports are FACTUAL BASED not Fiction like Fox.

   Nearly everything Olbermann reports is confirmed by other networks and that makes them TRUE. NOT Oriely’s, his are proven to be lies and deceit.

   You people need to change the channel, who watch FOX, and get a REAL WORLD REPORT. You are living in a fantasy world and just what FOX wants you to do. As long as they keep you away from The Truth you will never know The Truth.

   The FOX SIN NETWORK NEEDS TO LEAVE THIS COUNTRY and NOW. It has been a part of destroying our Great Land.

   Even Olbermann’s own network YANKED him off true election coverage along with his leg tingling pal Matthews!! The reason that Fox News has the best ratings across the country and always will is that regular Americans can tell the difference between real news and liberal bias.

   Points to be made to show Fox’s true Fair and Balanced nature… When Obama went on Brit Hume’s show unannounced right after all of the politicians had just met with President Bush on getting the Rescue Bill passed. This was a perfect opportunity for Hume and Fox news to hit him with gotcha questions, that would make him look bad like Couric and Gibson did to Palin but did he, no.    Only a fool and a liberal thinks that any other channel than Fox news presents balanced commentary. Fox news is the only station that has conservatives on it’s network. That’s why people tune in because you get both points of view. The other stations are all liberal all the time. So when you tune into Fox you get a diversity of opinion. There is no diversity on the other news channels.

   That of course is why 60% of the people believe that the media are cheerleading for obama.

    MSNBC is a sad excuse for a news operation. I cant watch them anymore they are obviously all on the Obama payroll except for Buchanan and Scarborough. People are pissed at Fox and call them heavily biased to the right. They could be perceived that way, but they are the only channel that lets you know anything negative on Obama. The best show on cable news Special report with Brit Hume. They call it both ways. Olbermann that guy is full of hate.

    Right wingers – whine all you want about MSNBC … just look at the scoreboard (polls) … Americans are tired of all the GOP BS .. when was the last time McBlame won a National Poll? … they have lost another 3 polls today and that makes about 17 straight national polls they have lost(realclearpolitics.com) … they are probably gonna have to resort to mud slinging now because the hype and the misquoting and the lack of actual content just ain’t working so well … we will now see what lowlifes they really are …

    I think that one of my friends said it best a while back. He commented that a long time ago he used to like Olberman somewhat. But whenever someone, like himself, who just wants the news Fair and Balanced and not the Jim Jones type of kool-aide drinker stuff that Olberman gets from Daily Kos and spews out as news it is just not possible to endure him anymore.

    After the debate the other night, I flipped it from Fox over to MSNBC and Olberman was all but cross examining a distraught looking Maddow. He kept asking her forceful slanted hate filled —totaly over the top questions—will someone please tranquilize that man— and he was practically foaming at the mouth to get Maddow to say that Biden won…she just kept saying “I don’t know…”

    It was one of those rare moments when I think even Maddow wanted to say….”Why don’t you let me have an independent thought you gas bag!”

    She squinted at him as if he were an embarrassment.

    Olberman is a vindictive man who makes himself try to look smarter and better than other people by mocking them and ridiculing them. He is an insecure bully who has obtained power. He is the character Andy Griffith played in the movie, “A Face In The Crowd.”

    But the difference with Olberman is that he is not funny. He is like the guy in high school who calls girls pizza face and can’t contain himself at the thought of how brilliant that was…He does not care that if they are struggling with acne…in Olbermann’s world crushing other people is fine as long as it gets him attention.

    He is an insulting buffon who thinks he is witty and hilarious. One of those loud weirdly bespectacled whackos at conventions who tells jokes that are not funny but laughs harder and louder at them than anyone else. I remember John Chancellor and men like that. They were newsmen back when NBC commanded respect. Keith Olbermann has all but peed on John Chancellor and David Brinkley’s graves.

    GE’s stock is a dissaster and that company is in free fall.
    People like Olberman are freakshows who whore in a lot of interest, but over time the damge to NBC will last far beyond the days of Keith Olbermann.

    MSNBC is a loser network. Even Lou Dobbs bet Chris “tingle up my leg” Matthews last week.

    Olberman can’t come anywhere close to beating O’Reiley…but hey what all you rabid FOX haters could do is just change your strategy. Instead of getting all worked up and frying your nervous systems over how horribly O’Reilly pulverizes Olbermann…instead why don’t you thump your chest over how badly Olbermann stomps Nancy Grace…that way at least you can feel like he is a real winner and not have to curse about Fox and do all that hyperventalating…

    Tom, you are the idiot! Olbermann is just one of many Obama Cheerleaders. He did enough to get booted from MSNBC’s main anchor coverage, along with Matthews. They still have their own shows, so NBC didn’t quite eliminate them. And the only poll that matters is on November 4th. If McCain loses that poll, then that’s it. As for losing all of these polls, keep in mind that most of those polls have liberals all over them.

    Well, Manofsteel, even if the GOP were to take over Congress in 2010, if Obama is pres, he has veto power, rather than if McCain were in power and able to rubber stamp anything a GOP Congress would push through.

    But as for Obama outlawing FNC, that is something that needs to come from the people, not the government. And at this rate, the people are never going to stop watching FNC. And if the government tried to ban it, that would be the biggest possible offense of the first amendment. The FCC is horrible enough as it is, we don’t need to give them even more power.

    You can count on Olbermann to “crow” as you put it.

    It is in his nature to do that. He is the type of person that rubs it in other people faces when he wins.

    He would not have the dignity to just let people notice. But if McCain does lose on Nov. 4th, O’Reilly will not whine.

    You obvioulsy do not ever watch O’Reilly, or you would realize that he does not whine. He may kick the door down and machine gun down who he thinks is a villan, but I have in 6 years of watching him never seen him whine.

    Olbermann whines, and Matthews really whines. Matthews has a period once a month, he makes Olbermann look like Randolp Scott.

    Both of them whine with enough self-righteous pomposity to make it irritating
    —even to thier employers. Why don’t you go back and read the news stories from when Olbermann got canned. It was numerous higher ups from many places on high that had had their gut full of Olbermanns whining that culminated on the RNC night over his “seperating” himself from his own network over the terrorist video that hurt him little feelings.

    What will happen is that Olbermann (if McCain loses) will have a group of haters and gloaters such as yourself slowly get bored with him shoveling out endless kudoos to Barack. With no one to hate or mock you will get bored and his numbers will go down even worse.

    On the other hand, look for O’Reilly’s numbers to go up as he will be like a voice in the wilderness.

    If you do not believe this then go back and look at Rush Limbough’s numbers during the Clinton years that many said would cause Rush to evaporate. Just the opposite happened.

    You can get Olbermanns political viewpoint on ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN. Olbermann is just one of many.
      
    To hear something other than a liberal viewpoint you are forced to watch Fox.
      
    The only problem with a liberal, or conservative viewpoint is when it’s not called such. Hannity or Rush have no problems admitting where they sit on the political landscape. For some reason liberals don’t like to admit they are liberals.

    I see a lot of strong opinions being expressed but I see just as much lack of understanding.

    Does anyone really think that Countdown with Keith Olbermann is a news cast? If you compare Countdown to Special report with Brit Hume you are comparing apples to oranges. There is an important distinction to draw here. FOX News does not have a separate true news operation like NBC does. If you want to make true comparisons you need to compare FOX News programs with the likes of Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams. Does anyone honestly think that “Meet the Press” is bias?

    We lost a journalism giant recently and he worked for NBC. His name was Tim Russert. Does anyone recall how much praise was heaped on this man from both the left and the right? Tim was the example of fairness and he was equally tough on all his guests. He attracted the likes of Andrea Mitchell and David Gregory to the NBC news organization and to call them bias is to have an agenda against NBC itself.

    Show like Countdown and Hannity are obviously commentary and both are presented from their perspective view points. I happen to watch both and I know what I am getting. But I will say this, it is like night and day to compare those two and the comparison is fair since neither program is a news cast but rather a commentary. Olbermann is down right entertaining. Does anyone recall him as a sportscaster? The man has wit and he has his facts straight. It’s very true that his program presents a left leaning agenda but he does it thoughtfully by examining the evidence and presenting only truth… you certainly get his spin but it is the truth. Hannity on the other hand is woefully predictable. I roll my eyes every time he opens his mouth because I know what is about to come out “Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright on and on” Take a listen to Olbermann and you will not see the same sleep inducing repetition. He and his staff do their homework and present an entertaining program while laying down their spin on recent events. Hannity is a mindless automaton with no regard for the facts if they do not suit his agenda.

    In addition, I hear this whine all the time that the media is bias. There is certainly bias in media and that bias is sometimes right and sometimes left. I do happen to think that more then 50% of the news media holds a more liberal bias although it is rather difficult to say how much more or just how liberal. I would say that most true journalists do a reasonable job being fair regardless of their personal bias. However, if it is true I don’t hear the obvious question being asked… why? Is it some vast uncoordinated conspiracy against the right? Of course not! The fact is that when thoughtful people draw conclusions they more often end up landing to the left of the political spectrum. It is no coincidence that “Liberals” are far more educated on average. The “Liberal” agenda is largely based on the common good whereas the conservative agenda is based in self interest. More often then not the best objective conclusions tend to be liberal and therefore may result it what appears to be a liberal bias. In fact it is a bias toward sound reasoning.

    All I hear about the media whining. Stop and ask yourself why, there is a reason, a good one.

Obviously, whether you agree or not, the majority of people prefer Fox – the NEWEST network by the way — because it is the very first time in Media that both sides are shown. Watchdogs of the media have looked at their programming – you can look it up anywhere. There are fair in time for every political view – including Independents, Dems and Reps —

    The difference that sets them apart : they are not afraid to ‘buck’ their own peers and report actual news, rather than filter thru personal preference.
    You show me where Olberman has both sides on his program — just show me.
    He was fired because he was an ‘anchor’ reporting the news?? Well at least they called that one right. And Chris Mathews?
    You don’t see anyone on Fox reporting the news like these two — Those with opinions say who they are and it’s not news anchor.
    And maybe you haven’t noticed that their opinion shows are balanced also. If you don’t think Alan Combs is very liberal, then think again –

    I don’t know why people keep whining about Fox News. It is what it is, and it’s winning the rating war. People like myself appreciate the fact that unlike the other stations, they have guests from opposite ideas and parties of EQUAL RANK, not some college debater vs the RNC chairman!

    As far as bias? Oberman and his new sidekick, Rachel Maddow – easy on the eyes, but twists logic to the point where all truth is gone. What a bunch of low lifes. I swear they are competing with Colbert!

    I am not a political junkie. I want news programs that do their job – call our leaders to account – not campaign for them. Fox was won their audience from the competitors, so why blame Fox? Blame the competition for sticking to the old liberal newspaper model and getting beat buy a more modern format!

    All of us can get frustrated with opposing view points that we see as misguided but the worst frustration occurs when some talking head is dispensing little more then a baseless series of non sense knowing that it is going to work on the citizen who derives their news primarily from that source or is mindlessly seeking a single view, the facts be damned. Let’s face it, there is plenty of overly bias, talking points based flem that comes spewing out of the mouths of pundits left and right.

    I obtain information and commentary from a variety of sources including the television news operations, print, radio and the internet. It becomes very clear after you expose yourself to all views (assuming an open mind) which are useless dribble and what actually makes sense or can at least be considered in a reasonable decision making process.

    Consider this: When you tune into the news are you rooting for something or do you want to get some facts you can use to make a sound decision? I fear that too few would answer the ladder.

    Fox is the only network with conservatives? Come on People! How about Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough. In addition, MSNBC is NOT a news operation… it’s the commentary arm of NBC news which is absolutely fair and balanced. This is the mistake that all blindly biased conservatives make. FOX presents itself as NEWS… that is a joke. It is the ONLY news operation with an obvious… no wait… it’s not just obvious, it’s obnoxious… bias. No other major news operation is bias from a corporate philosophy… some individuals may be bias but the corporate philosophy is not to favor one side or another… ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE… and try to listen this time… MSNBC is NOT a news operation… it’s 100% political commentary and they do get plenty of conservatives on there. However, if you want to compare, the comparison is to NBC News (notice the word news) to FOX News… NOT MSNBC to FOX News.
