Metered Market Overnight Ratings:  This is normally the first available ratings information, and is based on the electronic measurement service that Nielsen provides in 56 of the nation’s largest markets.  In each market a sample of homes is selected to represent that individual market.  Often, networks or syndicators provide metered market information as an early indicator of a program’s performance.  In aggregate, the 56 metered markets represent 79,890,610 homes, or 70% of all U.S. TV households.  Preliminary metered market data are available as early as 8:00AM (ET).  Final metered market information, reflecting line-up changes, pre-emptions and runovers, are normally available by 3:30PM (ET).

Good to see Smallville still doing well.

  2. Julia says:

That’s a pretty good premiere number for Life on Mars if it holds. We’ll see what next week brings, of course.

Since it’s ABC, I have to ask, did Grey’s run into the 10 o’clock hour by two mins?

  3. Julia26 says:

Glad to see Life on Mars did well. Loved it!!

  4. Cameron says:

How many is that in millions for Life On Mars and Eleventh Hour roughly?

  5. Julia26 says:

I think it may have run in by a minute, but I am not positive! Seems like a lot of Grey’s viewers stuck around though.

  6. Gabriela says:

    Yay! for Smallville!!

  7. R.G. says:

Yes! CSI won – On my please take them off the air list–(along with) CIRCUS/DANCING WITH THE STARS (but most of them aren’t dancing)…I also want GREYS off in 3 years…LAST NIGHT’S CSI WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST OF EPISODES – It was powerful!!!

I enjoy Smallville – but its stories are either wearing on me or their just not as good – so I hope this year or next year is its last…

  8. Cameron says:

CSI looks like it spanked Grey’s Anatomy big time! ABC is not having a good season are they? But at least they aren’t in NBC’s position.

  9. Andrea says:

That was a gigantic number for CSI…I can’t see it keeping that number throughout its season. Mark Berman labeled 11th Hour a loser…but I don’t know what show could compete with that lead-in. It reached about the same share and demo as Life On Mars which he picked as a winner–I guess because it’s on ABC.

BTW, I was torn between watching 11th Hour and LOM. I watched 11th Hr. and will catch LOM on stream, even it means dealing with ABC.com’s crappy viewer.

  10. Julia says:

Andrea, while I don’t really think Berman’s winners and losers lists are a scientific thing at all, and usually have a ton of bias that has nothing to do with numbers mixed into them, I would think the reason Eleventh Hour would be a loser and Life on Mars a winner, even if they had exactly the same numbers, would be due to retention. It looks like Eleventh Hour only retained about 50% of its lead-in, which Life on Mars was around 80%. Plus, the half hours may be very telling when comparing them.

  11. Angie says:

I am rooting all the way for Life on Mars!

  12. ioanna says:

Come on supernatural deserves so much better than that.. just because cw is weak people should start waching the show-much better than greys lately.. people just give it a chance

  13. Julia26 says:

Hey Andrea – I saw LIfe on Mars available to watch on Inside the Tube. Its a widget of the premiere if you still want to watch. I have to watch 11th Hour still, but I am sticking with Life on Mars b/c I loved it.
