haha, as for me, it’s probably the clean east bay air. Real fall, complete with deciduous trees! It’s thrown my system completely out of whack. Or I’m just PMSing over Chuck’s numbers

I completely understand Bill’s general annoyance with the spin doctors, but believe if someone sets out with the specific agenda of debunking the spin, it becomes a slippery slope in some cases (this one being an example) as far as objectivity and useful analysis go.

yes, and the fact is, the analysis is absolutely meaningless for at least FOUR out of FIVE of the networks (I didn’t do any due dilgence with NBC). You get so caught up with how the Hollywood machine spins things I think it hurts your objectivity. Objectively, the season *isn’t* off to a bad start for ABC, Fox or the CW, and if you factor in year over year differences involving CSI, not for CBS either.

If you read the media on the Live+7 numbers, you’d think it was all a boon for broadcasting.

Fact is, Live+7 viewing for the 5 English networks is down vs last season, by more than Live+SD. Are there differences between the networks, sure. That’s what the bars are demonstrating. Folks can see that for themselves.

Your commentary seems off base to me. Sadly for *CBS and NBC* the season is off to a bad start (based on that one week). But that’s not true for ABC, CW or Fox. 60% of the big five are off to a better start than last year. It’s the huge losses with CBS and NBC that drag the overall averages down. For now those averages are meaningless except to NBC and CBS…
