Mad Men Season Two Finale Draws 1.75 Million Viewers

Posted on 27 October 2008 by Robert Seidman

Here’s some ratings data for last night’s finale and this season:

1.75 million total viewers – Up 89% over last season’s average
2.9 million total viewers for all three telecasts last night (10PM, 11PM, and 1 AM)

(they pick up another ~40% in the additional two airings)

Doubles Key demos over season one
18 – 49 – (705K vs 338K) – 109% growth
25 – 54 – (780K vs 430K) – 81 % growth

Also per my AMC contact:

Mad Men continues to deliver the strongest concentration of upscale Adults 25-54 than any other scripted original series on basic cable. Half (49%) of its Adults 25-54 viewers that tuned into season two have household incomes over $100K.

This is excellent news!!! I’m happy that the show ended with strong numbers. Can’t wait till next season. (Oh and the DVD’s too!!!)

Maybe I just don’t get why pointing out half your demo is wealthy means a whole lot. I understand Boston Legal is popular among them as well, but I don’t think advertisers are going to pay more money for ads for shows with wealthier viewers. Boston Legal only got a 13 episode final season. Maybe I just find boasting “our show has this percentage of viewers with incomes over $100K, we’re so special for attracting rich people, nah nah in your face!” Can anyone shed how much light that statistic actually sheds?

Yeah, I just made an accidental pun that looks really stupid at the end of that last post, but I still want an answer! ;)
