Pushing Daisies isn’t rated high in anything but women 18-49, and in that category it isn’t high enough.

Same with my beloved “30 Rock”, which is only still around because TV people love themselves some themselves and will crawl through broken glass to give Tina Emmys. But at least I realize the reasons why I’m in a very small minority.

What Kristin is doing is WRONG. She is asking people to annoy ABC in the name of her personal tastes. The show is DEAD LAST in ratings for the network. Kristin is asking people to do something that could very well hurt the careers of people behind Pushing Daisies. Fuller doesn’t need fans pissing off executives.

Also my source on this is probably just as good if not better than Kristin’s source. They asked them to re-write the episode. They told them there was still a chance. Producers are trying to get a time/night switch. It’s just not going to work.

Unless you are totally psychic (i know a wiccan kid who is, lol), an ABC exec, or a creeper with a bunch of security cameras all over Pushing Daisies’ sets and locations, then you don’t know what happened.

Thanks for the link to Kristin’s crazy version of what DID happen today (and is the first link to something somewhat official about what I posted on here earlier). ABC flat out told them to make it a finale. No, they didn’t “cancel,” the show. They just told them to make sure the last episode “covers all bases.” Kristin thinks that means “leave things open for the possibility of more episodes.” What it really meant was make sure answer everything you can. Fuller knows the chances of his show lasting are slim and none. Slim just left the building.

The show is OVER. They were told to end it today. Yes, they were told “if things improve,” but that is the NICE way to treat someone you may have to work with again. I know what they were told today. It’s done. Finished. Do not get your hopes up.

Patrick, I dont’ see Metacritic as proof of anything. They don’t cover ever review ever written. The show has gone down hill this season and it started going down hill last season.

Using the Emmy noms as proof of being good is just silly. Art, Makeup, Hairstyle, music & costumes were five of the nominations. It wasn’t nominated for “series,” but acting, supporting actress, writing (pilot), editing (pilot) and direction (pilot). All you can really prove is that the pilot had quality.

Sorry to confuse you. I was using hyperbole to make my point that saying PD has seen a fair amount of ‘bad’ reviews, but that hardly makes the show bad by any measure. I think I’ve backed up -my- statement; Simply, that it was critically acclaimed, by providing significant evidence.

No, I do not think that PD is at all on the level of Seinfeld, Cheers or I Love Lucy… All shows that did receive some bad reviews (Especially at the beginnings of their runs) but were absolutely not ‘bad’ shows.

An average score of 86 among 30 reviews qualifies very well as critically acclaimed. Certainly some critics disapproved, but some people hated Seinfeld too. And Cheers. And I Love Lucy. I have simply not seen enough evidence that the majorty of critics find it bad in even the remotest sense.

You also forgot nominations for Best Actor and Supporting Actress.

This season is, sadly, still in its infancy, returning after a strike shortened season last year. You again use the word ‘bad’ which is an opinion and not a statement of fact. I again submit, I feel the show simply flies over the intellectual heads of most people.

13 million people gave Pushing Daisies a shot. 7 million of them said “no, thanks.” That to me is a bad show.

This is more comparable to Arrested Development. Critically acclaimed, but intellectually above the head of a ‘mass audience’.

The premise of “touch a dead person, get 60 seconds to talk the dead,” to help solve murders isn’t a bad idea. The execution of the show is just bad. The mysteries aren’t very good at all. I think I’ve mentioned the whole “can’t touch,” nonsense. The combination just makes people change the channel.

As for PD switching networks, it is far too expensive for cable. Why people think that the show would do just as well on cable and retain the same viewership is beyond me. No matter where it would end up it would do poorly. Why? It’s a bad show. The 7M people who don’t watch it who once tried it can’t be wrong.

Sad to have doubted PD’s natural ability but damn! Obama totally flattened the competition. I hope PD can last through this though!
