It’s no surprise MSNBC picked up viewers. The pro-Obama crowd would have tuned them in.

I think many conservatives simply tuned out altogether.

I don’t think many Fox viewers were surprised. I’d guess most Fox conservatives did’t really like McCain anyway.

CNN is much more balanced than MSNBC, to their credit. But if you look at the Pew study, the numbers bear out Fox as the most balanced. Equal negative/positive/neutral toward Obama and McCain. You can’t define Fair and Balanced by averaging the mainstream media, which is already left of center. In truth, Fox is down the middle, and there really is no “far right” channel to the equivalent of the partisanship of MSNBC.

Liberals will point to Fox harping about Ayers and Wright, but these are legitimate stories, and for the mainstream media not to press them is shameful. And Obama knew he could get away with it because the media was on his side.

I don’t remember McCain being out there threatening to take Olbermann off the air if he won.

Democrats love to spout the virtues of freedom of civil liberties, but time and again they prove they clearly do not understand the concepts. hardcore liberals accept only their reality as truth, and are close-minded to any dissent. Judging by his comments during the campaign, Obama falls into this category, and that scares me, as it should scare us all.

Removing Fox News would be one step closer to a state-run news agency, and we would all be the worse for it. And that’s the truth, whether you want to admit that to yourself or not.

How is MSNBC not tops in propoganda when its “star,” Keith Olbermann, does a post-election show that consists of little more than gloating and features a moment where he openly admits his bias, gleefully saying he is guilty of commentary during the election. Then when he names his “Worst Person in the World,” he gives no reason, saying they don’t matter, and basically they are the worst because he says so? His choices: The three people he hates the most. Republican commentators Bill Kristol and Rush Limbaugh, and his main competition, Bill O’Reilly. Why are they the worst? Simply because KO doesn’t like them. The SNL parody of KO’s ego was dead on.

You want fair and balanced? Look at the Pew study. Fox devoted equal numbers of negative, positive and neutral coverage to both campaigns. MSNBC was so skewed for Obama it isn’t even funny. Even 60% of Liberals criticize the media for being in the tank for Obama.

The problem for Olbermann is that his ratings spike has been based on campaigning for Obama and openly attacking his competition. From any network. He even attacks those who would counterprogram the NBC Sunday Night Football game. It’s embarrassing.

With Democrats firmly in control of government, what is Obamamann supposed to do to stand out? Kick the Republicans while they are down? Good luck with that.

Will he simply be an agent for attacking O’Reilly. How can that work. What reason does anyone have to watch him? Even if he attacks O’Reilly, he’ll just send viewers to O’Reilly to see what all the fuss is about. And any open-minded person can see that Obamamann is way off base.

So what i gather from your long feeble rebuttal is that we both agree that MSNBC is “biased and cowardly”, since you chose not to rebut my comment on that, but tried to on all other points. Common ground is a good start. We will continue to debate the other issues over time.

I’ll admit to not being a viewer of MSNBC or FOX News, so this is strictly asking as an outside observer. Yet, while we’re on the subject of their potential aftermaths, does anyone see that beyond scrutinizing every move the Obama administration makes, all that these two channels will do is essentially attack each other in order to gain ratings [a la the two NYC dailies in the Post and Daily News (for those who do live in the area can attest to)]?

MSNBC is not going anywhere. They will remain on air. They will continue to place a distant 3rd in Prime time news. They will not improve unless they get rid of their hard left air heads.
