“60 MINUTES,” FEATURING THE FIRST INTERVIEW WITH PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA,” DELIVERS IT LARGEST AUDIENCE SINCE AT LEAST 1999

60 MINUTES, featuring the first interview with President-elect Barack Obama, delivered its largest audience since at least January 1999, leading CBS to a Sunday night win in viewers, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings for Nov. 16.

Notes: Due to an “NFL on CBS” overrun of approximately 30 minutes, prime time ratings are tentative and subject to change.

From 7:30-8:30 PM, 60 MINUTES was first in households (14.7/23), viewers (24.49m), adults 25-54 (8.2/19) and adults 18-49 (6.4/16). While the viewer total is tentative, the last time 60 MINUTES delivered more than 24 million viewers was January 17, 1999 (25.77m).

At 8:30 PM, THE AMAZING RACE (7.4/11, 12.25m) averaged a 4.4/09 in adults 25-54 and 3.4/08 in adults 18-49.

At 9:30 PM, COLD CASE (7.8/12, 12.05m) averaged a 3.9/08 in adults 25-54 and 2.9/07 in adults 18-49.

From 10:30-11:30 PM, THE UNIT (6.3/12, 9.66m) averaged a 3.2/09 in adults 25-54 and 2.5/07 in adults 18-49.

For the night, CBS was first in households (10.2/16), viewers (16.59m), second in adults 25-54 (5.6/12) and adults 18-49 (4.4/11).

    Any idea what story 60 Minutes was running on Jan 17, 1999? Monica Lewinksy/Bill Clinton?

    The lead story on that ‘99 ep was about spousal abuse among the military. The show was helped by the lead-in of an overtime thriller between the Falcons and Vikings.
