I’ll focus only on a few shows here, but post all the shows once we see the fast national data with viewer numbers and age demographics.
It was a lot like last Tuesday, in general. last Tuesday NCIS had a 10.8/17 (household ratings/share) and wound up setting series records for viewing. Last night it had 10.6/16. The Mentalist was down a smidge too, from 10.2/15 to a 9.9/15, and Without a Trace dipped from a an 8.4/13 to a 8.3/12.
House had the same 7.3/11 both this week and last, and Fringe was off one tick dropping from last week’s 5.6/9 to a 5.5/8.
Remember these numbers are so preliminary that it’s easily possible that a show appearing down a tenth or two week over week actually winds up with a higher household rating than the prior week in the final analysis.
Meanwhile over at the CW, 90210 and Privileged were both down very slightly. 90210 drew a 2.1/3 last week and a 2.0/3, last night. Privileged dropped from a 1.4/2 to a 1.3/2. Apparently that did worse than a repeat of Reaper a year ago. That’s just sad. CW plans to air Privileged after Gossip Girl on Mondays the first couple of Mondays in December.
Law & Order: SVU picked up some steam, rising from last week’s 6.5/11 to a 7.2/12.
Dancing With the Stars results show gained strength. Last week’s show drew a 10.9/16, this week’s an 11.6/17. Did Eli Stone benefit from the uptick? Yes. It grew from a 5.1/9 last week to a 5.2/9 this week. Will that save the show? Something might save it, but it won’t be that one-tenth. More important is how it rated among 18-49 year olds. Last week it drew a 2.0 rating in the overnights among 18-49 year olds, but was dropped to a 1.8 rating once the minute or two of Dancing With the Stars overrun was pulled out. Did t draw a 2.0 or better among 18-49 year olds in this week’s overnights? Check back later for our full overnight report.
In the meanwhile you can check out the full early metered market report on Marc Berman’s site.
Metered Market Overnight Ratings: This is normally the first available ratings information, and is based on the electronic measurement service that Nielsen provides in 56 of the nation’s largest markets. In each market a sample of homes is selected to represent that individual market. Often, networks or syndicators provide metered market information as an early indicator of a program’s performance. In aggregate, the 56 metered markets represent 79,890,610 homes, or 70% of all U.S. TV households. Preliminary metered market data are available as early as 8:00AM (ET). Final metered market information, reflecting line-up changes, pre-emptions and runovers, are normally available by 3:30PM

Sounds like Fringe and House are going to do good this week!
NCIS gets most viewers yet again good to see the media is finally paying attention (I dont mean this site. You always have paid attention to it) Last night also was the best episode NCIS has done in their 6 seasons so far. They have been getting better with the demos it seems as well.
ABC and Disney Brass love Eli Stone, so I wouldn’t expect it to be yanked. ABC especially loves Greg Berlanti. Eli is totally different from Boston Legal, so expecting the same numbers Boston had on Tuesday night is a bit of a stretch. Eli was a mediocre hit last spring, so I really think it will be given the time to find an audience.
Last night’s episode of House was good, but it just seems to have lost some of it’s edginess. I dunno how to describe it.. something’s just missing. I hope they find it soon because this is one of my favorites.
My absolute new favorite in The Mentalist. WOW! Great show! As someone who was disappointed (but not rabid) about Moonlight, I’m going to give CBS kudos for this great show. Thumbs up!
I just hope, if ABC keeps giving Eli a chance (and I hope they do), that they continue to promote the show properly as well. If it dies because of poor ratings, at least it will have gone out with a decent fight and backing from the network – all I can ask for… I love Eli Stone.
Stacy,
.
I totally agree as to House losing its edge. Last night’s story was OK, but there were no “Did he just say THAT?!?” moments for me. House used to have me shaking my head and laughing at those moments for the whole hour. IMHO, the part of the edge that’s been lost a dulling of the razor-sharp wit and sarcasm. That, and it’s trying to delve into the personal lives of a few too many characters now
I’m not a big fan of Eli Stone, but I watched it last night. It was vastly better than recent stories I’ve sat through. It’s the first episode I’ve seen that really got the entire ensemble involved in several interesting storylines.
