I’m not getting into the early metered market detail today. It was one of those days where looking at Berman’s report was just kind of irksome. It was sooo close to last week’s results, most people wouldn’t probably notice the difference, though if the early numbers hold up when the fast affiliate data arrives, Heroes looks to be down still a little more. On a household ratings basis, Chuck and Heroes look like they will converge at some point. I’ll post the viewer numbers and 18-49 and 18-34 demographic ratings data for all Monday’s shows hopefully by 9:30am PST, so check back.
I’m not saying Berman is lazy to use the comparisons to last year simply because they come with the report he uses to write his report so he doesn’t have to look anything up (I could see doing the exact same thing) but the comparisons to last year on a show by show basis are fairly worthless for almost every network, for almost every show if you’re not Univision (or MyNetworkTV). In the chart below, you can see how far down the networks are versus last year through the week of 11/16:
At this point NBC isn’t sweating how far down Heroes is vs. last week, but it’s probably sweating bullets about how far down it is versus a month ago. It’s the current intra-season trend that caused people to get fired (and by the way, Tim Kring is sorry for calling you saps and dip—ts).
CBS is holding up the best versus last year — things are much worse at ABC and NBC and things are worse still for Fox so far this season. And mostly due to the absence of Friday Night Smackdown, CW is down year over year worse than anyone. Though in the 18-34 demographic, CW is only down 1.2% versus last year, and that’s better than all the networks but UNI and MNT (and MNT’s growth is exaggerated because the numbers are so small to begin with).

I just choked on my caffeine laughing at the drivel coming out of Kring’s mouth as he backtracks like a crab trying to take back his blatent dissing of the very audience that pays his freaking bills.
That brain-mouth switch was kinda screwed up there, eh Kring?
HA! That is some funny sh*t!
Part of the problem with Heroes is certainly bad writing for sure. They have contradicted their own history too many times to count, that I am sure that is why some people bailed. But the comparisons to last season are just dumb. I think the writers strike did permanent damage to TV viewing habits. If you give people time to find something else to do, then the routine of TV watching is broken. That is why I believe almost evey show is down year to year.
If the actors strike, I think TV will take another huge hit.
How does NBC plan to help rectify its problems…
with another reality show starring Mr. Teeth himself, Tony Robbins.

I know you’re all salivating for it!
NukeTheFridge (BTW, love the name) like Robert said, you have to compare Heroes to a month ago. It’s way down within this season.
I buy into the theory that Chuck and Heroes will converge and switch places at some point. Feel bad for Heroes though, I hate watching sci-fi shows do poorly. But Chuck was all kinds of cool last night. “Unleash the Casey!” hahaha!
And TSCC…the audience from last season really needs to find this show again, last night’s episode was awesome. They are setting up the coolest intricacies about the future resistance and Skynet’s creation.
Andrea, scary huh? I confess to liking the CBS idea around a pilot for “Things Men Should Never Do after 30″ (or something like that).
BTW, overnight report is up…
I can’t wait overnight’s already…
