I’m sure the Jericho freaks knew it was on and still think the show is coming back. They are the biggest nuts in the history of TV fans, even beating Firefly and Star Trek, and that’s something.

TV Sage i actually relished watching shows that did not start off with “huge” Nielsons. The X Files on friday nights was lucky to get over 3 million people.
The Amazing Race premiered the week after 9-11 and was in danger of being cancelled til Season 7 where viewership finally picked up thanks to the Midget (Charla) and her cousin Myrna
TV Guide actually did articles called The Best Shows You’re Not Watching..Party of 5 was on that list.
Also loved Boston Public and my all time fave that never got huge numbers St. Elsewhere. ER still can’t hold a candle to it!

Hey Jen,
I can relate to not watching shows with “huge” audiences. I still watch one huge show – House, though it’s shark-jumping time with House and Cuddy “relationship” issues going on IMHO. “Fringe” is maybe a hit, but not huge numbers when compared to the acronym shows of the CBS network. I like Fringe a lot. Other than that, most TV time for me is spent watching the Pittsburgh Penguins and Discovery Channel. And when I’m looking for something thats scripted drama or comedy, I’ll most likely rent a DVD or check out a movie on cable .

I too am amazed CW manages to stay on the air. When a twice cancelled show getting 1.25 million viewers is considered an improvement, its an ominous sign.

I remember when they axed Veronica Mars because it was getting ONLY 2.5-3.0 million viewers. These days VM would be cosidered a runaway hit on CW.

I wonder just how long the CW can keep going with ratings as low as they are for most (all) their shows. Let alone for filler shows such as Jerico. Don’t companies want to make money off their ads? With so few viewers how much can the CW realistically ask for ads?

No Chris, may be hard to believe but I don’t . I used to watch CSI Las Vegas , but after the 3rd season I got tired of it , and the other CSIs are the same but in diferent cities. All those shows , Cold Case, C. Minds…after watching a few episodes you realize they are always the same…Actually I don’t enjot any show at the moment. In the past I watched “alias , Buffy , Ally McBeal , The XFiles , Will & Grace and Friends” . I am still trying to find some shows I could enjoy now, but to be honest with so many cancelations going on these days I think is better to put my time and $ in DVDs.

Robert, for an unadvertised show it did better than the advertised crap it replaced. We’re talking the CW here. I wouldn’t be shocked if their numbers get better too. So yeah a rerun for a canceled TV series from 2006 getting those numbers on the CW isn’t horrible. They are definitely good compared to what was airing there.

Are we missing the big picture? I saw stocks were down today 700 points. i don’t bother to check the dishrags called net tv. how is DIS doing? GE? Viacom. Haha ha ha ha ha ha ha. The Joker lives. Pete, but it’s the CW. They aren’t in the same number of households as CBS. I think there might be a possibility of getting 3 million people to watch JERICHO. That would require massive scaling down of the show (similar to what they already did with season 2). Still the numbers aren’t there. IMHO they are good for the CW considering it’s a 3 year old rerun.

What I find interesting about the CW is that shows like Smallville and 90210 have been pulling in what, around 3.5 to 4.5 million for a new episode. Jericho last night showed a rerun of the pilot and pulled in 1.25 which is not very impressive, but no numbers for that network seem to be. Had there have been several weeks of ads coupled together with new episodes of Jericho I can see it pulling in about the same amount of viewers as the two shows I just mentioned. Jericho was averaging about 6 million when CBS pulled it not counting DVR and I find it hard to believe that the core group of 6 million plus would not follow new episodes on the CW.

Matt, I agree with you. Footall are helping a LOT to CBS and NBC with overruns but when the football ends, ABC will be on the top in the winter. Sundays for CBS are their weakest night and NBC is a joke.

I know Desperate Housewives is always a ratings powerhouse regardless of what it is up against, but the solid performances of America’s Funniest Home Video’s and Extreme Home Makeover against two football games and a late edition of 60 minutes really shows off the strength of ABC’s Sunday night lineup. After football season concludes, their audience should see significant growth. ABC seems to be gifted with creating reality tv hits the way CBS can spot a killer procedural a mile away.

I would imagine that American Dad was hurt a lot by the repeat of Family Guy. Seeing that’s a repeat, I instinctively assumed American Dad would be a repeat too.

For the record, Joe (un)Cool, having your leg amputated below the knee might “suck less” (sic) than full amputation. With the advances we’ve made in prosthetics in the past 30 years or so, below-the-knee amputees can walk and run pretty much normally. Watch the You Tube video entitled “Dear Mr. Obama” for an example. I won’t spam this site with the link, you are intelligent enough to look it up

All that said, 1.25M people watched a 3 year old canceled TV show at 7/6 central is kind of amusing. They find another million and it would be a top CW show! I’m pretty sure the JERICHO faithful have no idea it’s on. CW did no advertising for it. If they doubled the numbers the CW would look at it seriously. It’s the whole reason it’s on.
