I don’t even know why FOX keeps Cops and AMW around with the low ratings it gets. The Goverment must be paying FOX to keep AMW on with over 1078 people they brought in over 22 years.

Michael, in CBS’ case it’s a deliberate strategy. It’s their “Crime Time Saturday” block where they rotate reruns of their crime procedurals (CSI gets aired sometimes, too).

My best guess as to why they rotate them rather than stick with only a couple of shows they always rerun is that it has to do with rights for the number of times they can rerun episodes (before incurring some sort of ridiculous fees) since they also wind up needing to air reruns of those shows in their normal timeslots. But, it’s just a guess…

How do stations decide what shows to show reruns of? For instance, I love The Unit, but I imagine CBS would have gotten higher ratings with CSI or NCIS, why not rerun those?
