Regardless, JERICHO is doing what The CW wanted it to do – Doing better than the Show it replaced,improved the time-slot over last years and cost next to nothing to do it.

Besides,they’ll do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING to keep from turning Sunday night back over to the affilates!

Funny UHD extended Jericho and CW added it to boost Sunday Ratings which it did.

I’m not *that* obsessed, sir. I enjoy watching how the repeats are doing. I am a *tiny* bit obsessed with studying trends – I love SPC charts, experimental design and analysis, all sorts of fun with numbers. I guess that means I do have a screw loose, but not the one you are implying. I noted what I believe would be needed, in terms of numbers, happen for any new Jericho development considerations. I did not note that I believe 3MM viewers will actually happen. It would be cool if it did. The million dollars falling out of the sky is a fun dream too, though scientifically impossible. Theoretically, 3MM Jericho viewers would mean “X” number of Nielsen meters/diaries tuned into the show for at least what – 15 minutes? So one of those dreams is statistically a possibility. Not saying I believe it will, just saying it’s scientifically possible!

Clutz, with all due respect, you have a screw or few loose. Jericho’s doom is behind it. I don’t read *anything* at all into this week’s ratings versus last week’s, or the week before that. Do I think the preemptions effected this week’s final numbers? Sure. But whether that’s by 50,000 or 200,000…so what? I don’t mean any disrespect, but seriously and literally, so what?

There is no chance, none of 3 million viewers and solid demo numbers for reruns on the CW Sunday nights. If it happened it would certainly be interesting to talk about. But if a million dollars fell out of the sky and rained down on you, that too would be interesting. Neither is happening, so I don’t understand thinking about it. Obsessing over it is as crazy as obsessing over a million dollars falling out of the sky.

With all due respect, Mr. Seidman, this blog has always been quick to jump on the Jericho Doomsday bandwagon. Sure, low ratings are the main reason it was canceled. Sure, what’s airing on the CW are merely repeats of the canceled show. Still, I get the feeling you are all-too-quick to support the idea that we are seeing doom in ratings this week. This week was a single run where ratings dipped below the 1MM mark for Jericho, mainly in the first half hour. I went and checked the weekly final ratings for previous Jericho episodes – they stayed pretty close to the overnight numbers. So in this case, one ratings dip does not a “downward trend” make. Pre-emptions played a factor. Darn good football on other networks played a factor (post-games, pre-games, yadda yadda yadda). I withold any judgement until I see a few more weeks and a few more numbers.

And yes, I do understand that ratings of a couple million won’t be cause for the CW to pick up new episodes. We’d need to see a solid 3 million viewers, and 18-49 demos that at least crack the 1.0 mark, IMHO, to even consider movie or spinoff options. Jericho fans are just everyday people, building great friendships while sharing a passion for a wonderful scripted drama. So what if we dream big once in a while ?

Mark – just checked back on this page. I think we’ve got a Scooby Doo episode going on here with Joe Cool – first mask pulled off and there’s Soylent! If we pull the Soylent mask, will we see Nina Tassler or Les Moonves, LOL?!? Actually we won’t se either – the CBS execs probably wouldn’t spout off about how Jericho veered “too politically Left” in Season 2. Maybe we’d see Sean Hannity? Just kidding – I like Hannity

Back on-topic. I do think some major market pre-emptions combined with a big football night on all networks cut into Jericho’s numbers on this particular week. It was a rebroadcast of a canceled (sadly) show, up against major football and holiday fare. And it still did better than Valentine! Let’s see what happens over the next few weeks.

Lets take a show off NYC and Pittsburgh and other football markets and try and spin that away. Not good reporting to omit that little fact Robert, but you are biased but controlled by the click on all things Jericho.

Funny second half hour was 1.09M and trending near last weeks episode. Better than CW last year and 3 weeks ago to I might ad!

It’s OK he’s not egregiously a troll, he’s just an irrational fan. and in his defense it’s true the #s I cited measure only television homes, and not people. But the fact is, almost none of the people (relatively speaking) in the New York metro area watch the reruns of Jericho when it’s *not* preempted, so getting worked up by the preemption seems awfully silly.

Does a pre-emption make a difference in the final numbers? Yes (more so with a popular show, but still). Would Jericho have gotten more than 900,000 viewers if it weren’t pre-empted? Possibly. Does the pre-emption explain the total 250,000 viewer drop from last week. Seriously doubtful. Does anyone besides Jericho fanatics care? No.

everyone, I suggest you ignore all future posts from Mark. I don't think he intends to be a troll, but he winds up achieving such status nonetheless. I'll be ignoring future comments except to say that the reairings at 11pm are not included in the numbers either above, or the weekly numbers. They are measured, and both the local affiliate and the CW certainly wind up seeing those numbers, but Nielsen doesn't include the out of timeslot airings in the normal timeslot tallies. That's true of any show that is preempted and airs out of it's time slot and not just Jericho. The NYC metro area is not 20 million, not according to Nielsen, the US Government or New York or New Jersey. Nielsen pegs it at 7.4 million for the current season

Mark, The numbers posted here INCLUDE viewing the pre-empted markets. The overnight numbers show everyone who was watching that network/affiliate during each half-hour. The final numbers (posted later that day or the next on pifeedback, sitcomsonline, and a few other places, and in the weekly numbers on this site) are adjusted to remove the pre-empted markets to show how many people were watching a specific program.

Since Jericho was pre-empted in a couple of markets, the numbers here are actually higher than the final numbers.

There seems to be some misunderstanding on what happened to Jericho last Sunday… So for the record Jericho was preempted in at least two markets New York and Pittsburgh and not for football but for a Billy Graham special was ran in its place.

Those are two HUGE markets that are missing from the Jericho numbers.

And Clutz I believe you are correct we have located the troll Soylent from the CBS board.

RAFF, I agree actually. What I meant was less individual people should never watch Jericho anymore, it was more that I do not really expect them to flock to a show that’s got the canned sticker in masses and suddenly make it a surprise rerun ratings hit.

How many millions of posts will it take for you to realize that dillusional is not a word? In any case, it’s nice to know you still lurk on UHD and other Jericho boards. It’s fun to see how obsessed you are with pointing out your own delusions regarding Jericho’s fandom. It’s a fandom just like any other fandom. The fandom is hard-core, cultish (as in “cult hit,” “cult classic,” etc…), and a whole lot of fun! Too bad you simply cannot understand the notion that some of us did not interpret JS2 the same negative way that you did. To do so, you must understand that yours is an OPINION, not a FACT .

Oh, not again. I like sci-fi/genre shows, so I watched a part of Jericho on Sunday . . . I’ve gotta say, I now understand why the show got canceled. It was just about the most boring show I’ve ever seen. I turned it off and went back to watching Animal Planet.

MBH – Jericho trending down is rather predictable. Its like the sun coming up in the morning. Jericho was a show with alot of promise but decisions by the producers regarding Season 2 alienated much of the Season 1 fan base for various reasons. Season 1 and 2 were really very different shows. The producers couldnt decide if it was more post apocalyptic survival story or a sub-Tom Clancy/”24″ type political thriller involving evil US government officials.
