We are pleased to announce that long-time frequent reader and contributor Julia Honeyman is lending a hand to the TVbytheNumbers editorial team. You might recognize her as “Julia” in the comments. We’re delighted to have someone on the editorial team who actually has some editing skills. Nary a day goes by without an erroneous apostrophe or five or without the occasional frequent spelling mistakes.
Julia is in college and majoring in television management and hopes someday to rise high enough through the ranks where people like Bill and I will mock her. Until then, as time allows, she will do her best to stamp out apostrophe abuse and will likely (hopefully) occasionally contribute content.
Please extend a warm welcome.
P.S. please excuse the graphic, but the only good “welcome’ graphic I could find was a welcome mat, and really, nobody wants to be a doormat, so I instead went with “the crowd goes wild”.

i dont like her she always has an attitude
Hey Julia, “welcome” would not be so appropriate because you are already active on the blog but I must say I’m looking forward to your first post! Welcome to the blogosphere as a writer !
how rude, Sam. *she* has an attitude? that was decidedly not a warm welcome!
I like her attitude and even though she was a Pushing Daisies fan she could be objective about ABC cancelling it due to ratings.
I approve of this.
I am happy to make new friendship with you.
Well, you’re nobody on the internet until somebody hates you. Thanks, Sam!
And thanks for the welcome, guys!
I am interested to see what comes of this.
Hi Julia
Welcome, Julia! Your comments are part of what makes this site addictive
oy, sam, i would hope you’re writing that with a nice dose of irony in mind.
Welcome Julia your comments are always fun to read
The sign of a great organization is the recognition of its flaws and the enthusiasm to address them. Bravo!
I know a few other TV-internet blogs I follow that could use a dose of the same can-do spirit when it comes to improving their editing. The smartest people make mistakes, but people who have good editors get the lion’s share of the respect!
So, please give me grief me when I slip and FAIL over at our blog
I mean it!
I have to agree with Sam. I’ll welcome her to your editorial team. However, I do not care for her attitude in most of her posts.
I’m liking the selection more and more. If she irritates you so much that you feel motivated to comment about her attitude in the comments rather than keep it to yourself on a “warm welcome’ post — she’s perfect.
Good for you, Julia!
As an English major/editor, I’m always glad to see fellow apostrophe hunters rising in the world. Best wishes in the new position!
Let me add my tardy (why don’t those kids put themselves to sleep for a change?) but very warm welcome to Julia! Robert and I are both excited to have you contributing!
Congrats!
Hooray for editors! Hooray for the prevention of apostrophe abuse!
I agree with Abigail: This shows “can-do spirit.”
But in the spirit of editorial vigilance, may I ask: What’s up with the quotation marks around Julia’s name in the title here? To my eyes, it doesn’t make sense unless it’s a fake name — in which case, I don’t know why you’d want to draw attention to that. Maybe you wanted to put her name in bold instead?
Good job Julia.
Robert, for a quick glance at the photo I thought it was clipped from the Christian music TV ad…LOL
Heh, good point, Ike. Almost belongs on the “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks. Shall I edit it?
Welcome julia/”Julia”. I recognize your name (and picture) from the comments. How do you get a picture anyway?
thedemonhog, there are instructions right under the box to leave a comment.
the quotes were really just meant to highlight, especially to our frequent readers, that you were the commenter known as Julia.
I am fine with you removing them!
Wow. Thanks.
No, I pretty much got that, Robert. I don’t think it needs to be edited.
All right. Actually I thought Julia already was a part of your “team” because she comments so frequently…haha.
Oh well, everyone needs good editor because we all know that good grammar is HAWT!
I wouldn’t mind her as much if she didn’t come across as a total know-it-all. I wonder what it’s like to constantly feel the need to correct people. Besides posting a boatload, I don’t see her contributions standing out at all.
Tony,
She’s unbiased, that makes her contributions more than about 90% of the people here.
Yay! Congrats and welcome Julia!
Oooh, this is really great! It’s good to have you onboard Julia! You’ve been nice and informative, so I expect good things.
By the way, that girl with the black hair in the bottom right of the photo seems to be very estatic at this turn of events.
This photo was taken right after Terminator got picked up for the full season. Am I right?
Oh heck yeah!
Now that you mention it, that girl reminds me a lot of myself, actually.
Welcome Julia!
Julia, which college are you doing TV Management at? Im looking for a graduate degree in TV Management or a related degree but I have little knowledge of the American system as Im from Australia.
Thanks
I wonder when will Ill be joining
Julia,
Do you watch/like LOST? I don’t know if I should be reading stuff from you if you’re a basher of the show. lol
Because, LOST is the best!
With a name like Honeyman how can she fail? Huzzah.
Ack she is like the ozone layer she is everywhere!!………..accept Antarctica *flees*
I can’t type, punctuate, and/or spell worth a dang. But….. I ain’t paying no ones to type me what I thinks!
If you git peopls complaints…well screw-em.
Yoe twos guys do well on yer oon.
Welcome Julia. Always good to add a fresh perspective to a writing team. Maybe the networks might someday try it too. But I doubt it!
Congratulations!!!!
Does she look like Julia in the movie 1984?
ABCFanatic: I don’t.
Congrats. George and Jerry finally have their Elaine.
Looking forward to reading your stuff.
Where is Cosmos Kramer then, Mikey?
Congrats, Julia. (:
Thanks everyone.
Cookson, I’m not a Lost fan, but I don’t bash it (I’d have to watch it to do that), and won’t unless the numbers warrant it.
Andy, don’t worry, I won’t be using my editing powers to change what BIll or Robert have to say. Merely fixing a misplaced comma or three and the like.
Weclome Julia! ” ‘ ” – It’s nice to see…???!! someone correcting >>”"? / ..()
and placing apostrafies and spelling stuff right…
Hmmmm ” ” (let”’s seeeee how good she really ! ) is … * hehehe
? ! “” “” ….
Okay – so I’m not original…but I thought I was funny.
Congrats, Julie. This place definitely needed someone who could lower the testosterone level around here.
To answer Robert Seidman’s post “If she irritates you so much that you feel motivated to comment about her attitude in the comments rather than keep it to yourself on a “warm welcome’ post — she’s perfect.” I actually have been keeping my comments to myself about her since finding this site. I figured that she was just annoying to me as to other people and there’s little reason to point it out and start a fight. As Tony posted above, besides the multiple (and many times unnecessary) posts, Julia’s comments didn’t stand out, except for the grating nature of them.
And with this post, I expect I’ll probably be banished (and yes, my grammar was purposely wrong… noodle on that, Jove Kid).
My favorite interchange here in the comment swamp is about the unnecessary quotes around “Julia”’s name. I am an inverterate fan of the Unnecessary Quotations blog, and this post title is well within the zone.
My next-favorite thread is about whether Julia is fair to Lost, a fan or not.
Then, in 3rd place are the posts about how much she has contributed to this blog and the worth of her contributions to the organization.
Social engagement in action, luvsit.
Tell Sam to go fuck himself!
Julia ROX!
I personally like the quotations surrounding the name in the article title. It makes it sound more… epic.
Well, I can’t say that I have appreciated the “Julia” commentary as ‘on the mark’ – though all sentiment is welcome here and to each his own, bravo “Julia”. I sincerely hope TVBYTHENUMBERS gets their just deserts.
And Julia is epic. And this site. And– erm, nevermind.
Aww Moonlightfan, you broke my epic chain.
Julia, remember 2 + 2 = 5
I have to thank the silly quotations around Julia’s name for a revisit to one of my favorite blog, the unbelievabley wonderful unnecessary quotes blog — and, thanks to stream-of-consciousness living, the divine passive aggressive notes blog recently also mentioned by Andrew Sullivan over at the Atlantic.
Well, attitude is allways a Good Thing(tm). Keep on rocking?!
